Teddy's swag was on steroids
Have mercy you ain't never lied.
Another super classic record, You’ll be listening to this for the rest of your life now that you’ve heard it
He can't help it!!!
So TRRUE....
Especially after another love tko hahaha 😆 😂
Male R&B singers just don't have masculine vocals like this nowadays. Classic
Not at all...
Not the on the Pop or R&B charts nowadays. I'd say the last really popular ones were Johnny Gill and Jaheim. Thats 10 and 20 years ago!
What does a tko mean?
@@gloriavis technical knock-out... a boxing term for when a boxer isn't knocked out cold but can no longer stand and fight.
@@obvioustruths oh, thank you
One of my favorites! Teddy is a beast.
Smoother than silk!!
Teddy was the Man!!!
Teddy!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I just LOVE your reaction. You are absolutely correct in that you will listen to this for the rest of your life. It will never get old and I can attest to that as I'm 71. It's just one of those classics that will live on forever.
That's the Teddy Bear for you. Now that is a voice.
That beautifu voice and he was wonderfu with Harold Melvin and the Bluenotes
Sir ! THIS is what WE called " SOUL " IN MY DAY. -----------TP WAS THE MAN !! And, this song is so true -------so damn true -------------OMG !! RIP, Teddy P. --------------------MJL, 76 y/o
This wasn't written for Teddy originally. But it was written just about the time the first "Rocky" movie was released. All Philly all Day.
Reminds me of my dad. When I was a kid he had a few tapes in the car that we’d always listen to and Teddy Pendergrass was one of them. Probably where I got my love of soul and RnB from
That´s the way it should be: you introducing me, a 56 year old musiclover, into (samples used in) music of the younger generations (Ahmad) and at the same time obviously appreciating this 40 year old beatiful song yourself. Loved your reaction.
This song never gets old...a certified love making chill out classic from Teddy Pendergrass.
Just Jammin's ear for samples is definitely getting sharp!
I actually had the chance to meet Teddy in his last days when he was parillized. I saw him do a whole show while sitting in a wheel chair. He sounded better than 90% of the artist on the radio at the time!! LEGENDARY!!
Love seeing your reaction to a legend. So smooth is right!
He seduces you with his pain. Masterful.
This was back in the day, I had just moved into my new apartment, and I had to go out to my car.
And there was this song playing from an apartment on ground floor.
And I just stood there taking it all in...great moment
Every time I hear this song, it always takes me back to when he had that car accident. Our local radio station played this after they broke the news that he was in a bad car accident. If that hadn't happened, he would have been HELLA BIG! He had what it took. R.I.P. indeed KING.
The instruments especially the bass and the other gituar is boss ❤️!!
Xscape sampled this for the “ Who can I run to” remix too
Teddy P. made some classics. He was extremely popular in the mid 70's and even though he wasn't as at the height of his popularity when this song came out, he still made it a classic.
His song Come And Go With Me... the smoothest Mack song ever !!
Yes!
Dont be sorry to pause it. When your in the moment your in the moment 🎶 🎶
This song is just a fuckin vibe from top to bottom and that's it. I first heard this on a road trip with me parents were driving across the deep south on Christmas even. I will never forget that moment.
Back in the day when I was young I'm not a kid anymore...is the hip hop sample I recognize right off the bat. Took you a bit but you got it. Well done youngblood. Love TKO is EPIC. That's all I got to say.
“TP” was a beast of an album. Every song on this album was a winner.
Don't apologize for bothering us...you're not! This is a reaction video...love your reactions. Love how you love music. Love watching you experience great songs for the first time. ❤
that bassline
Don't Worry About the Samples... Just enjoy the Music... Because u will never hear this kind of music again... Thank God I was a Kid in this Era .... My dad loved Teddy... His favorite singer(RIP to both)
Teddy was So smooth!
I still have this song on a 45" vinyl record from back in the day. Everyone I knew was flipped out over this song and Teddy's voice. Teddy also made great music with Harold Melvin & The Blue Notes~ some of my faves are: The Love I Lost, If You Don't Know Me by Now, Wake Up Everybody. 👍👍✌
He was a gifted singer and God bless him!! Saw him sing live from a wheelchair! Check out "I Don't Love You Any More"!!
This man...oh Lord....love him...Thank you!!!
What a talent! It all started w/ Harold Melvin and the Blue Notes. “Wake Up” is a classic.
Gamble & Huff
Teddy P, Stylistics, O’Jays, Intruders, Spinners, Blue Magic.... yeah.... Vicious Animals
Teddy Pendergrass was one of the most famous electrifying entertainer during his time; he came from the group (Harold Melvin & The Blue Notes). Women would throw their panties at him on stage while he was performing. lol his concerts were MAD CRAZY!
Everything went downhill when he had that horrible car accident which tragically paralyzed him from the neck down. I'll never forget that day when it happened... it was so SAD! He was bound to a wheelchair until he died in 2010.
You have excellent taste young man
Summer Madness came out a few years before Love TKO.
Teddy is the man👍🏽
This is one of 1st albums I heard when I was a child. Of course my Mama bought it home so we could listen 🎶
And yes, you are on point with your covers and "Summer Madness" statement.
Story of my life........been married twice, so this hits hard for me....Had to let it go. That love shit knocked me to my knees
I just 💜💜💜💜💜your reactions to songs that really move you. It's why I 💜 your channel & you ALWAYS do the best songs. Taking me down memory lane. From my youth to end of my wild care free years. Thanks💜
Oh yeah! He was that good. This is bringing back so many good memories. Thanks dear JJ.
Loved your reaction to this classic and your appreciation for the Old School songs I grew up with back in the day. This is one of those songs you want to dance with that special someone, and never get tired of it.
By the way, have you listened to any of the blues greats, e.g. BB King, ZZ Hill, Denise LaSalle, Little Milton, Koko Taylor, John Lee Hooker, or Muddy Waters?
Spinners- could it be I'm falling love
I love that song!
This will always be one of my favourite Teddy Pendergrass songs check out I can't win for loosing by Teddy Pendergrass
My alltime favorite male soul voice
“Looks like another love TKO.”
First one to perform for women's only concerts.
My boiii, got dat Sample Knowledge 💀 ✨😎
The wonderful M.F.S.B and the late great Teddy P The sound of Phille... Smoother then Italian Ice cream... Keep the land of the Good Groove going young bro...
Harold Melvin and The Blue Notes had Teddy. But, when he went solo he took It to another level. Swag Lord.
Dude you were so spot on with the Ahmad back in the day sample and the summer madness vibes. I’ve always felt the same way and related to you so hard in this video. One of my favorite songs ever
Man, these artists sample everything! 😂 But this was one of his most popular songs, so I'm not surprised.
Respect the sample knowledge, y'all! I was about to help you out in these comments, but you got it on your own! I love your music appreciation, bruh!
HAROLD MELVIN AND THE BLUE NOTES...Look into them
The best Teddy P. For ever❤
Young man we excuse you for trying to recall the samples. We simply want to hear Teddy. Thank you for your evaluation.
TP was the lead singer of Harold Melvin and the Blue Notes. I believe that you reviewed "If You Don't Know Me By Now" by HM&TBN, which was covered by Patti LaBelle and Simply Redd.
Yes Simply Red! Patti simply outstanding 👍💯!!
Compton’s Most Wanted sampled this first on Can I Kill It? from Straight Check’n Em. 🔥🔥
So gooooood.
What a voice, R.I.P Teddy.
A great song. But you did it in the wrong order. "Close The Door", then "Turn Out The Lights", then "Love TKO". Listen to the other two.
"Come And Go With Me", "Close The Door", then "Turn Off The Lights"!
@@rodders5625 Smart and so right.
Don't forget that Comptons most wanted also sampled this one with - Can I Kill it?
Mr Smooth himself. Goodness me, that voice.
Seriously, bass, electric guitar, acoustic guitar players are the bomb 💣💥! Sounds like George Benson and Earl Klough!!
Another unknown song : The Temprees - Dedicated to the one i Love
Back in the days when I was young I'm not a kid anymore but some days I sit and wish I was a kid again
Your not the only one Rah... peace D.J. Loky the soul survivor...
It sparks emotions of those few good moments between the hard times. Nostalgic...
You right on the sample tracks
Try his live in Hammersmith, England Concert. It was about 2 -3 months before his tragic accident.
Roy Ayers Everybody Loves the Sunshine is EVEN SMOOTHER.....!!!
Not smoother, but nice though.
@@jamesgraham3116 They're both nice, just different vibes...... Peace
He sang lead with Harold Melvin and the Bluenotes.
If you love this close the door is a classic
U are adorable!! This is my song!
They don't rush it..they just sail on the breeze,,Teddy,everybody..smoooooth!
Ice Cube used this as well
Harold Melvin and the Blue Notes....I should say.
Think about nothing professor when he said Teddy p Teddy p
It's an RnB Masterpiece
….the GOAT TP💯✔️👑….
Teddy could sing ballets and dance tracks equally. He was a Baaad Man. RIP Teddy P
Hey man, I understand. At 5:00-5:09, you were at a loss for words. This song is still a classic.
I really enjoy watching u get into the song J, Teddy's music is so smooth with a voice tht demands ur attention, his swag was on 1000 J, U have to check out a doc about him. Sample game 👌
This is one of my favorite songs, first time I heard it was back in 2005 when it was in the game Indigo Prophecy(PS2) . That game had an amazing selection of tracks, but this one was fire. Teddy is my mans, man.
You should also check out Teddy's "Wake Up Everybody" track, it's fire too.
Every time I hear this song, I think about a particularly dramatic scene in the movie “Sugar Hill” starring Wesley Snipes. Won’t spoil if you haven’t seen it yet (would be a great review if so)...If you saw it but don’t recall this song in the flick, go back and rewatch. The record is not in the movie but the SONG is. Watch it and you’ll get it.
Ahmad Ali Lewis.. he's one of my friends.. Back in the Day..
In that Era base lines and horns were heavy on call. Try doing Gil Scott Heron- The Bottle. Trust me on this I'd never steer you wrong hun.
More Teddy ... " Turn Out the Lighs ", and "Close the Door "
This is such a classic slow jam man.
Of Harold and the Blue Notes fame.......cool dudes.
Another Teddy classic The whole towns laughing.
All time greats JJ
The one and only.
You should react to TP on stage/live Close the door..then you would see the emotions he put into singing his songs. He takes it to another level.!! TP had more sex appeal then the rest of the men on the plant put together and he enjoyed it too.
I like Teddy’s early stuff too, when he was with Harold Melvin and the Blue Notes. If You Don’t Know Me By Now and The Love I Lost.
That was wild to watch ya recall. Ty won't
Send it!
Summer Madness was by Kool & The Gang.
Teddy’s baritone was special. Teddy a Philly treasure. The Sound Of Philadelphia. Johnny Gill used to imitate him and Marvin Gaye. of Philadelphia
Teddy and whitney collab before she blew up
Ok, you heard Teddy P, one of THE GREATS, ok I got one for ya, Roy Ayers; Everybody Loves the Sunshine.......

Ahmad "Back in the Day" one Famous sample.
STILL 🔥🔥🔥 from 1980.
Great hook.
You should hear Beth Milder sing Love T.K.O.
I love the movie "The Wood"!! I need to re-watch it - havent seen it in a minute!!!
