fuck me . 14 years later and this shit is still ahead of its time . I remember i ran to the record store on my break from working at a morgage firm and bought this and called out sick the rest of the day as i couldn't turn this off. Just insane .
I fully agree there is no other band that I can listen to almost every album from back to front. Especially the old stuff is just as relevant today as the first day Or heard it as an angst filled mohawk sporting 14 year old. I still listen with same amazement and adoration 25 years later as a 35year old adult. Timeless music from the quintessential punk rock band way ahead of there time
I feel like they were so criminally underrated... They didnt get their due, not even in the punk scene, so many punks don't even understand the importance of strung out, and it's ironic in the 90s as a teenage skatepunk I was really into strung outs contemparies nofx, lagwagon, the vandals, afi.. But i never got around to listening to strung out and I regret it
Most punk rock is like vodka; clean, straightforward, you know what you're getting when you crack the bottle. This album though, like an aged fine scotch. Complex, layered, dense, you know you're not getting everything it has to offer on the first go. I used it as a sort of social litmus test as a teenager, if you couldn't understand what made this album brilliant we probably couldn't hang out for any length of time.
I saw these guys play in a tiny little bar in Cincinatti [called topcats i think] back in the mid 2000s and it was one of the best shows i ever saw. They played a lot of this live and as one can imagine it was mind blowing. This is the peak
I love this record but its not "by far" the best since EVERY Strung Out record is amazing! I actually like their newer stuff better than their older and my favorite one is definitely From Exile (though its pretty damn old nowadays). My list: 1 - EiO, 2 - AotU, 3 - BoLA, 4 - TAD, 5 - AAP, 6 - C&I, 7 - TBD, 8 - STW, and 9 - ADiP
I am not sure how anyone can say any Strung Out album is overrated. IMO, this is an amazing band that never received the commercial success they deserved.
Twisted by Design, Element of Sonic Defiance and American Paradox, I felt was the bands prime. There music beforehand and afterwards wasnt bad but I felt this stretch was when they were the most ambitious and consistent as musicians. The first two albums mentioned were the ones that sold me on Strung Out, I realize not everyones taste is conducive to mine, but I felt they played with a lot of heart and technical prowess on those albums, their guitar solos on this album are fucking....SOLID!!!
I was picking up some weed in Simi and I started talking to one of the other guys in the living room and it turned out that he was good friends with my little brother Sam. As we continued he was mentioning his upcoming tour. And I finally figured out he was the guitarist for Strung Out. I'm also good friends with Darb Gnarl, their first drummer. It was cool because I'm a big fan. NOFX. Is also choice. 🤘
It's interesting, the intro of Everyday is so true these days, as a society we really are all robots walking around looking at our phones instead of eachother, having no empathy for one another. Song hits close to home
Best album for sure new album and exile from oblivion are masterpieces in own right what band can u listen to every song from waste land to Alpha and enjoy every song except for black hawk down over losangleless I don't know why but it just slow and sloppy strung out best punk band ever ya that's saying alot but 38 heard lot of punk bands none are as talented as strugout
+OldSchoolAddict I just found out watching an interview that the bassists wrote most of that album right after he cleaned up usually the singer writes lyrics I'm glad I found someone else who is not blind to the fact the album was no good it was almost a different band soft sell
+OldSchoolAddict Jim's dead rip so it was Chris uve heard zero downs album right the band Jim left to form its punk in it purest form favorite album lyric wise and that's a huge statement

Apparently Jake confirmed this was apparently an album to the band but the label and press took it as an E/P and it never got the promotion their other albums got
Savant, Razorblade and Mephisto are in my top 5 Strung out favorite songs, fantastic drumming. Strung out is not the same without Jordan Burns, he's the best drummer in Punk rock imo.
The fact that this album is not as recognized as it should is an absolute shame..

Absolutely agreed.

@@The-Punnkk BECAUSE OF IT'S ATMOSPHERE/AMAZING VOCALS!
@@The-Punnkk because you don’t know. Let’s keep it that way.
Funny I was thinking the same thing ❤
Still holds true
Still remember the first time I heard this ... these guys are on another level of SoCal than most bands.
They're on another level than any band period... :)
Never got these guys until I heard this, an excellent EP by any standards!
Strung Out's best work imo. Also the production on this ep RULES.
Yup, the drums especially (both the playing and the mixing/mastering) are on another level.
@@KidCorporate way before its time
jim cherry R.I.P.
Moshing and crying at the same time!
Also, possibly the best drumming ever recorded. R-E-S-P-E-C-T !

Everytime they've been to Cincy I've gone to see them
Still by far the best thing they've ever done. Only Exile comes close

❤They were way ahead of their tine.
That drummer!
Jordan is insane on this
Poor Jordan :(
You see Jordan playing guetto heater ? Is totally crazy how they play !!!
Jordan is a monster. And he was not young when they recorded this.
25 mins of perfection
This is just ridiculously good...
one of the best records ever
Asolutely a must to own! One of my audiophile reference (Razorblade intro for tweeter and space benchmark)
Amazing as usual, great EP with songs that become a classic.
My favorite album from these guys!
This is my favorite Strung Out album next to Suburban Teenage Wasteland Blues.
❤This was the 1st album I heard. I was blown away. I didn't even know what genre it was.
I am not sure how anyone can say any Strung Out album is overrated. IMO, this is an amazing band that never received the commercial success they deserved.

Crazy the intro is from an episode of “I love Lucy”
This was their Magnum Opus.
I'm convinced these guys are prophets.
This band is like TOOL, if I liked TOOL lol.
I’ll see you again
Was jim on this?
Discaso !!!!!
Blew-Mephisto you just can’t skip a track
their best creative work before getting sucked back into their own brand of mediocrity and cliche Cali sound. was excited for them for a sec.
