I think the reason why they didn't see you on the stairs or Sonny in the room is because their darkness settings were set lower than yours. I played with it at the lowest and as a Family member, you literally cannot see into dark spots or areas. That may be why you were shocked when the Cook ran by you on the stairs and everyone else walked passed Sonny at Slaughterhouse.
