personally I cared more for Ash than Liko and Roy, nostalgia just make a character “fell older” and gone through more since we “grow up with them”. Wish Liko and Roy had some gym leaders or game character to draw from, a new cast of nobodies is kinda hard to care for.
I haven’t watched the new anime just because I lost the luster of watching it on that level. I been thinking of binging it. But from little I seen it beautiful and everything I heard it, it’s the best thing ever. I think that Ash could come back someday but not today, maybe for the 30 year anniversary. A TV movie sound good.
The 30th anniversary period would be a perfect time for Ash and Pikachu to make their first guest appearance. By then, if they keep to the typical schedule, it would mid to late in the run of the next gen series, Liko and Roy would also be strongly established. They could start gradually linking the universes now, though, and maybe tease us with guest shots from other characters first before Ash returns. I'd love to see it work out that way!
Ash&Pikachu can appear after Ep.100 of HZ for a 2 or 4 parter arc. I don't expect before because he can overshadow Liko and Roy if he appears. I think before Ash's return we will see other characters from old anime like gym leaders, rivals or companions. If rumors are true some old characters will appear in SV DLCs and a BW game is coming. So, related characters can appear in the future.

Tbh I don’t see Liko and Roy continuing to gen 10 mainly because their main Pokémon are the Paldea starters and they won’t be relevant after gen 9. It also makes sense as we’ve seen the outrage that was caused when it was announced that Ash is retiring but it was the only natural reaction you could expect so the only way to prevent it from ever happening again is to reset the cast every more frequently.
Pokémon probably wouldn’t do that. It’s like Ash going to a new region but not taking Pikachu with him. Also there’s no reason for them to not take there starters to whatever comes after HZ.

This is probably a break for him and the VA. However there is another possibility that for each Generation they might be changing Protoganists just like the way Beyblade was doing (Which is a terrible idea in my opinion)
yeah changing protags every season would be terrible. Everyone thats done that seems to have failed eventually while pokemon kept with trusty ash and its still a success. Ash is too big, he and his pikachu are literally the definition of pokemon for so many. They should bring him back at all costs. Ideally they should have had a series where ash mentors liko or something. I think they tried that with the other guy from journeys but liko is polar opposite of ash from what people are saying so I think ash and liko could work well. Pokemon fans would be far more accepting of a new proatgonist if they felt like she is ash's protoge. (or his daughter, but pokemon will never do that cause it will mean aging up ash and forever losing the chance to bring him back as main protag)
My guess is this is one of those “people hear what they want to hear scenarios”. A shame but little can be done. What is a shame though is the ratings of the show itself being down not just for lacking streaming services, but just in general because I’m my opinion, Horizons has a really strong start with interesting characters, great music, and great storytelling. There’s so much potential for something great and I wish for more people to at least check out the first 3 episode as they are all cohesive. idk why people think ash is good. tbh its really boring to watch him lose every time and go to the next one to lose again. Riko is really good tbh this new season is good way better than all of ash jorney of pokemon. The last time it was good was origin. they show proper development and growth and show the world of pokemon not just gyms.
If Ash and Pikachu are to appear...it should be down in Area Zero as AI Robots in place of The Professors whom are there too as AI and help Liko, Roy, Penny, Nemona and Arven out of Area Zero after stopping AI Ash and AI Pikachu as well the Time Machine as requested. Maybe Liko goes back to the distant past or even far into the future in order to rescue Ash and Pikachu who are not actually dead(Possible DLC spoilers on The Professors' Fate) If they decide to kill him off in this timeline this way...what an emotional ride it'd be for all of us to see our Boy Ash in the form of a Robot because him and Pikachu were apart of The Research Team and were killed protecting Koraidon/Miraidon from their counterpart?!

I don't want to get my hopes up but there are absolutely no words I can use to describe how much I hope this will come to pass. I really think waiting long enough and till an impactful milestone will bring meaning to Ash's absence and return. That is, if this does happen. I really hope it does because I know a lot of fans want Ash to come back and I do, too honestly. I don't really see myself watching Pokémon Horizons once I can because it reminds me that Ash and Pikachu left the anime but maybe someday when it hurts less because I really don't want to ignore an entire show just because Ash and Pikachu aren't there anymore.

Look, Horizons may not be cracking 2 percent in the television ratings in Japan, but it wasn't like Ash's last few seasons were doing that much better. XY&Z was around low 3 percent, Sun and Moon was constantly in the twos, the Masters 8 arc was in the low 2s, and the last eleven episodes was between 1%-2%. Has Rica Matsumoto ever said anything about finishing us Satoshi's run? Whether it was her choice, or the choice of the studio? And has she said anything about wanting to come back? She's done the voice for 25 years. I think she's 54 now. If she's ready to be done with it, then I believe that we need to be accepting of her decision.

My theory the reason why they kept ash 10 is that if these new characters fail all they have to do is being him back so I'm hoping is that whether it be liko and Roy or new characters for generation 10 that ash will get a proper ending retire and get a happily ever after (married and kids)
As a fan since the beginning & someone who has seen every episode & movie chronologically (I tried at least), I wondered why Ash never aged. Great point. I also wonder what Generation Pokemon will end as well. At least Gen 12, & we could get a proper ending flash forward in the future.
Pokemon horizon has not created much impact outside Japan . Even though Pokemon horizon has a good storyline but without Ash Ketchum the story would be incomplete as he is the one and only hero who comes to help every single region from the beginning till galar region . So we can hope that he will surely come back to Pokemon series .

Tbh i think ash would be in a Boruto like situation. Not thats Ash would be Liko’s father (could be tbh). But that Ash would come back in some episodes to cheer them on sometime and here and there show his self for a couple of episodes.

However and whenever our fav duo makes a comeback of some, I'm having a good time with the Volteccers right now so no rush. If ash comes back, it’d be cool but I’d also like it if he wasn’t the main character. Maybe they could treat him more as they did with Cynthia in the gen 4-5 animes where she was a major player in the story but not the main focus. It would be awesome if they would also bring back some of Ash’s companions. I don’t want all of them, just maybe one or two. If I had to say which ones would come back (gonna limit myself to two), I’d probably choose Serena (obviously) and either Clemont (I love Clemont) or Brock.
Don't underestimate the pokemon company if they crame a new form of Charizard in every generation if the numbers don't look right Ash will be making an appearance even if its just as a mentor to Roy.
Small pokemon theory on Liko's dad: Goh has the same eyelash pattern as Liko. Also, would it be possible extra time could have passed, and there could also be grandparents? Or the possibility of a character having a step dad seperate from their birth dad?
I wish people could just let this character go, 25+ years was more than enough and it was clear they were grossly stifled by having to have the show revolve around him. So, so many other cool short animated pokemon projects have come out in recent years that show it could be so much more than following Ash and Team Rocket around for decades.

I’m not above that, but I feel like it would be best if they tried that in an alternate timeline. With parallel worlds being all the rage right now (and even being canon in Pokémon), there’s plenty of marketability for that and other possible crossovers. I’m mean, what could be better than having Ash come back? Having the mainline eternally 10 Ash along side either his early-Heisei past self or his alternate future doppelgänger (if not both).
I love Ash and all and I grew up with the kid, BW & XY. Stopped midway through Sun and Moon and Most of Journeys was skipped but Horizons is just something I have been dreaming about since I was a big pokemon fan of xy. Just a new journey with new characters and that's what the a pokemon journey is. Honestly, since this is my dream come true for the anime and I feel like a kid again than just a confert show, and If ash does come back i might just stop. Or if horizons gets cancelled and they bring back ash pikachu and team rocket I'll just stop and focus on my other animes shows instead and pokemon merch and games. :(

Just a thought but the significance of the Pokémon aim to be a Pokémon master could be shifted from ash leaving the anime itself to ash leaving the role as the protagonist.

only way I see them bringing Ash back is 2 different posibilities. 1. The new anime flops, Ash comes in and becomes a regular (or a saving character atleast) or 2. Ash gets a new anime that will run in parallell to the new anime, which will "tie in" with it.. ala how Arrow and The Flash in Arrowverse interacted with eachother.
Either one works we just need to see ash back again. Honestly if pokemon really wants they can make this a big world with multiple tv shows. Imagine if some of the older beloved protagonists like may/dawn/misty etc got their own show. I would be down to watch

A 30th anniversary return seems like a no-brainer, and Horizons will thankfully be over by then. However, I think that Ash deserves at least his own mini series or a movie. We don't need to see him shoehorned into anyone else's story. By the way, I don't exactly share the Goh criticism. Scorbunny's progression was believable, and Sobble wasn't going to eclipse that anyway. I'm more bothered by the limited screentime of his most impressive captures (Scizor, Flygon, Aerodactyl and Absol). What's more to me is how Project Mew was handled, and while it wasn't perfect by any means, does anyone expect Liko or Roy's vague goals to fare better? Really? They'll just help save Terapagos and maybe Rayquaza alongside 7+ other characters.
If they were to bring back Ash and let him become the main protagonist of the series again what would they do with him? He hasn't got much of a story to run off I guess. He has won the league, completed his dream. What more could he do? While I guess Pokemon could focus on Ash finding his father as he is confirmed to be in the Pokemon world but that's all I can think of to be honest.

New show is ok, but it is lacking I'm not sure if it's a modern storytelling issue or teething issues, but it's trying to coat tail on ash it's not working aswell as it should have, it's an ok anime with ok story but it's not Pokémon and nothing special
Honestly there are many thing Pokemon can do after ash became the champion.You can make it that he is not the strongest trainer cause he is only strongest in the 8 region.Also you can continue the journey with new things and new challange.Instead of Pokemon league.And with that they can bring old character and visit old places and have old pokemons.There’s lot of options.Like you can have a sec where all the evil team join forces also did team rocket orginasation fell cause I don’t think they did so Pokemon could do that.Somewhere Pokemon have to end so I would prefer ash growing up.Then you can make a hole entire new generation where it’s not gonna be the same thing or have any connection (I mean that’s what they are doing but still ash should have continued his journey.

I think the creators just don’t like their fans being happy for multiple reasons not just ash leaving Spoiler alert 1. They made ash lose to Cameron the guy who didn’t even know the maximum number of Pokémon to use in a battle 2. They made goh catch all the galar starters without ash catching at least one 3. They made him bring the worst team to the fight with Tobias Heracross: decent but still lost quite a lot of times Torcoal: lost pretty much every battle in Hoenn Gible: I understand why he brought it but he should have replaced it with charizard or something Sceptile: Best choice but 2 good choices aren’t good enough Swellow: did good in hoenn but lost when it was at a disadvantage Pikachu: may have tied with latios but it’s defense sucks

Tbh I don’t see Liko and Roy continuing to gen 10 mainly because their main Pokémon are the Paldea starters and they won’t be relevant after gen 9. It also makes sense as we’ve seen the outrage that was caused when it was announced that Ash is retiring but it was the only natural reaction you could expect so the only way to prevent it from ever happening again is to reset the cast every more frequently.

This is probably a break for him and the VA.
However there is another possibility that for each Generation they might be changing Protoganists just like the way Beyblade was doing (Which is a terrible idea in my opinion)

Ash is too big, he and his pikachu are literally the definition of pokemon for so many. They should bring him back at all costs. Ideally they should have had a series where ash mentors liko or something. I think they tried that with the other guy from journeys but liko is polar opposite of ash from what people are saying so I think ash and liko could work well. Pokemon fans would be far more accepting of a new proatgonist if they felt like she is ash's protoge. (or his daughter, but pokemon will never do that cause it will mean aging up ash and forever losing the chance to bring him back as main protag)

My guess is this is one of those “people hear what they want to hear scenarios”. A shame but little can be done.
What is a shame though is the ratings of the show itself being down not just for lacking streaming services, but just in general because I’m my opinion, Horizons has a really strong start with interesting characters, great music, and great storytelling. There’s so much potential for something great and I wish for more people to at least check out the first 3 episode as they are all cohesive.

idk why people think ash is good. tbh its really boring to watch him lose every time and go to the next one to lose again. Riko is really good tbh this new season is good way better than all of ash jorney of pokemon. The last time it was good was origin. they show proper development and growth and show the world of pokemon not just gyms.
If Ash and Pikachu are to appear...it should be down in Area Zero as AI Robots in place of The Professors whom are there too as AI and help Liko, Roy, Penny, Nemona and Arven out of Area Zero after stopping AI Ash and AI Pikachu as well the Time Machine as requested. Maybe Liko goes back to the distant past or even far into the future in order to rescue Ash and Pikachu who are not actually dead(Possible DLC spoilers on The Professors' Fate)
If they decide to kill him off in this timeline this way...what an emotional ride it'd be for all of us to see our Boy Ash in the form of a Robot because him and Pikachu were apart of The Research Team and were killed protecting Koraidon/Miraidon from their counterpart?!

I don't want to get my hopes up but there are absolutely no words I can use to describe how much I hope this will come to pass. I really think waiting long enough and till an impactful milestone will bring meaning to Ash's absence and return. That is, if this does happen. I really hope it does because I know a lot of fans want Ash to come back and I do, too honestly. I don't really see myself watching Pokémon Horizons once I can because it reminds me that Ash and Pikachu left the anime but maybe someday when it hurts less because I really don't want to ignore an entire show just because Ash and Pikachu aren't there anymore.

Look, Horizons may not be cracking 2 percent in the television ratings in Japan, but it wasn't like Ash's last few seasons were doing that much better. XY&Z was around low 3 percent, Sun and Moon was constantly in the twos, the Masters 8 arc was in the low 2s, and the last eleven episodes was between 1%-2%.

She's done the voice for 25 years. I think she's 54 now. If she's ready to be done with it, then I believe that we need to be accepting of her decision.

Pokemon horizon has not created much impact outside Japan . Even though Pokemon horizon has a good storyline but without Ash Ketchum the story would be incomplete as he is the one and only hero who comes to help every single region from the beginning till galar region . So we can hope that he will surely come back to Pokemon series .

If ash comes back, it’d be cool but I’d also like it if he wasn’t the main character. Maybe they could treat him more as they did with Cynthia in the gen 4-5 animes where she was a major player in the story but not the main focus. It would be awesome if they would also bring back some of Ash’s companions. I don’t want all of them, just maybe one or two. If I had to say which ones would come back (gonna limit myself to two), I’d probably choose Serena (obviously) and either Clemont (I love Clemont) or Brock.

Don't underestimate the pokemon company if they crame a new form of Charizard in every generation if the numbers don't look right Ash will be making an appearance even if its just as a mentor to Roy.

I wish people could just let this character go, 25+ years was more than enough and it was clear they were grossly stifled by having to have the show revolve around him. I’m not above that, but I feel like it would be best if they tried that in an alternate timeline. With parallel worlds being all the rage right now (and even being canon in Pokémon), there’s plenty of marketability for that and other possible crossovers. I’m mean, what could be better than having Ash come back? Having the mainline eternally 10 Ash along side either his early-Heisei past self or his alternate future doppelgänger (if not both).

Stopped midway through Sun and Moon and Most of Journeys was skipped but Horizons is just something I have been dreaming about since I was a big pokemon fan of xy. Just a new journey with new characters and that's what the a pokemon journey is. Honestly, since this is my dream come true for the anime and I feel like a kid again than just a confert show, and If ash does come back i might just stop. Or if horizons gets cancelled and they bring back ash pikachu and team rocket I'll just stop and focus on my other animes shows instead and pokemon merch and games. :(

I like, Pokémon Horizons, it's not as episodic, it has interesting new characters and a refreshing change up to the formula. And "the Captain" scenes instantly make me smile.

1. The new anime flops, Ash comes in and becomes a regular (or a saving character atleast)
or
2. Ash gets a new anime that will run in parallell to the new anime, which will "tie in" with it.. ala how Arrow and The Flash in Arrowverse interacted with eachother.

A 30th anniversary return seems like a no-brainer, and Horizons will thankfully be over by then. However, I think that Ash deserves at least his own mini series or a movie. We don't need to see him shoehorned into anyone else's story.
By the way, I don't exactly share the Goh criticism. Scorbunny's progression was believable, and Sobble wasn't going to eclipse that anyway. I'm more bothered by the limited screentime of his most impressive captures (Scizor, Flygon, Aerodactyl and Absol).
What's more to me is how Project Mew was handled, and while it wasn't perfect by any means, does anyone expect Liko or Roy's vague goals to fare better? Really? They'll just help save Terapagos and maybe Rayquaza alongside 7+ other characters.

New show is ok, but it is lacking I'm not sure if it's a modern storytelling issue or teething issues, but it's trying to coat tail on ash it's not working aswell as it should have, it's an ok anime with ok story but it's not Pokémon and nothing special
Honestly there are many thing Pokemon can do after ash became the champion.You can make it that he is not the strongest trainer cause he is only strongest in the 8 region.Also you can continue the journey with new things and new challange.Instead of Pokemon league.And with that they can bring old character and visit old places and have old pokemons.There’s lot of options.Like you can have a sec where all the evil team join forces also did team rocket orginasation fell cause I don’t think they did so Pokemon could do that.Somewhere Pokemon have to end so I would prefer ash growing up.Then you can make a hole entire new generation where it’s not gonna be the same thing or have any connection (I mean that’s what they are doing but still ash should have continued his journey.
Ok, come on now. They cant just get rid of Ash like that. Lets not forget the OG narrator too. But if he's truly gone, here's some things we need to see:
1. Reuniting with Primape
2. Reuiniting with Gliscor
3. Ash getting Misty a new bike
4. Ash's 11th birthday
P.S. If the Pokemon Company decides to do a community vote on if they should bring Ash Ketchum back, its not even a question at that point.

I mean wouldnt be the first time the Pokemon anime had two anime shows and just have them run side by side maybe crossing overe every now and then that way thy get both side. You satisfied the old heads and the young and new Series people win win more money for Pokemon
Anime in general of all styles is not as bad as they want to make it seem, not if compared to Marvel and Disney for example... if it happens it's at a medium to medium level comparison of years ago AND ACCORDING TO SPECIAL MEDIA like those who say the anime is bad, THERE ARE ALSO THOSE WHO SAY THEIR CONSUMPTION INCREASED so... it still seems like that... it still moves what moves people,NOT EXCUSE for HORIZON

I think the creators just don’t like their fans being happy for multiple reasons not just ash leaving

1. They made ash lose to Cameron the guy who didn’t even know the maximum number of Pokémon to use in a battle
2. They made goh catch all the galar starters without ash catching at least one
3. They made him bring the worst team to the fight with Tobias
Heracross: decent but still lost quite a lot of times
Torcoal: lost pretty much every battle in Hoenn
Gible: I understand why he brought it but he should have replaced it with charizard or something
Sceptile: Best choice but 2 good choices aren’t good enough
Swellow: did good in hoenn but lost when it was at a disadvantage
Pikachu: may have tied with latios but it’s defense sucks
They could at least make more movies with Ash as the MC. It's a shame they stopped making them after the 23rd one.
Their are some anime like one piece where luffy is still their and I know if the animation has changed its main character it will be on fire

Honestly I feel they should wait a solid year or two before having an Ash cameo if at all. That way Horizons can develop properly first and have Liko and Roy share the spotlight with Ash, rather than him being the primary focus. After all, he is no longer the main character of the story, despite the amount of copium that people seem to be emanating.
I hope, if Ash will return in HZ, and writers will return his personality from XYZ. To somehow smooth edges over after the last 6 seasons.
sorry but you're have to watch for the announcement on October 15th. I told Pokefan. I told him to do an Ash and Misty in the Paldea Region as boyfriend and girlfriend just the 2 of them traveling on an date. So he like my idea. So he thumbed up my idea and gave me hearts with his picture profile. Just have to wait and see on the October 15th announcement. It's going to be so romantic and cute. They'll be holding hands, making out, make each other blush, cuddle, Ash doing cute and romantic things for Misty and they hug. Ash and Misty will wear new outfits to the Paldea Region. It'll be an cute and romantic series with Ash and Misty. I can't wait for this moment. See that really happening anyway with Ash and Misty. 😘❤💘
