You should add a blob of oil to the left side of your air lock between your two farm rooms and vacuum the two tile space in-between, to stop any heat/cold transfer between the rooms. Also you made your Automation wires in your steam room out of lead, may want to change them. Loving your series so far.
Pip planting has to be right to left top to bottom unless you're doing hanging plants like pinch pepper that's right to left bottom to top with 5 tiles between floors instead of 4 for the others. The first 3 can be planted then 1 by 1 right to left using ladders also can use blueprints of ladders unbuilt using priority 1on the ladders
Mmm Berry Sludge, the key to a successful space mission! My second asteroid was the inverted magma asteroid which also had ice biomes with Sleet Wheat and Wheezeworts. I set up a basic living area for my one Dupe to live in while he build wild farms for Sleet Wheat and Bristle Blossoms, with some temperature control using a Entropy Nullifier. Also set up some shipping rails and auto sweepers to transport the Sleet Wheat and Bristle Berries back to my main base and into a Wheezewort powered, double liquid lock freezer room with a Micro Musher built inside it so my Dupe doesn't have to run around too much while making the Berry Sludge
Maybe idea for you, Nathan - since you are planning to use just two dupes, maybe this series is nice opportunity to test out mutation of plants. While trying to get larger number of mutated plants is kind of pain (not true for sleet wheat, because when plant decides to give mutated seeds, all 18 produced sleet wheat will be of same mutation), for your small colony it could be worth it and also nice showcase for viewers. Here comes my idea of mutation in play, as there are two interesting mutations for your case: 1) Juicyfruit, where plant drops its fruit immediately but requires 25% more fertilizer (which doesn't bother you since you are planning wild ones) 2) Exuberant, where plant life cycle is just 25% of normal one, so in case of wild plants they produce same number as normal domesticated. These are kind of more difficult, since you also need Darkness, you will get 4kg of Rot pile each harvest and there will be fruit poisoning on dropped plants (which I think will be destroyed when cooking). I am mentioning this because earlier you start mutating your plants, sooner you'll get requested results. And since mutation requires radiation, you could achieve that easily by planting few Wheezeworts in your farms. Also be aware that mutated plants need minimum radiation to grow, so Wheezeworts will need to stay there and maybe in future, some kind of heating will be needed. Sorry for long post, tried to explain my idea best I could.
Really? Have tried some different automated cooking, but haven't been able to bypass a grill yet. Not sure what temps I've tried, but have been up to 200°C at some attempts, before believing it was useless. Will have to try this, thanks ❤
Did a simple test with Sandbox; 155°C refined carbon tile in vacuum, and spawned in a raw egg on top of it. When the raw egg hit an internal temp of 72°C, it turned to an omelette. Now to implement this into a fully automated loop. Not sure if storing critter eggs in a storage bin still gives raw eggs or if it's been patched and turns into something non-edible, but ideas are swarming 😅 thanks again, man ❤
Note that you didn't cooled the kitchen him self, as well as the steam turbine And i have to say this is a really fun and interesting series. very different :) Keep up!
For the infinite food storage i suggest using the hydrogen loop for the sleet wheat. The sleet wheat can survive the -18 needed to get the Deep Freeze effect.
Just a tip I really hope you can find. So, not really to do with this episode, but for future projects. Instead of using a large power transformer, which gives maximum 4kW... that can still potentially overload your conductive wires. Use two small power transformers side by side. This will give you exactly 2kw of power that you can use... and you also have that bit of certainty that your power systems won't overload if you have a bit more than 2kW connected to it. I love your series by the way🙂
@@Nathans-Sandbox It prioritises some of the machinery, keeping them on. If the machine is done running, the power will be reverted to other systems. It's especially useful when you have machines that only need to run periodically and not full time. Some of my systems have 3+ kw connected to them but everything still manages to run smoothly.
- Put 3 doors in a row with tiles around sides - Deconstruct the middle door and fill space above the natural block with a tile - Deconstruct other doors - 3 natural tiles Clean up area
It's a feature that when enough debris falls it can form a full tile. It's similar to what happens with falling sand. The door is just a side effect that is probably not wanted by the devs.
is that plant calculation based on Nathan harvesting or based on the laborless harvest where the plant auto drops its harvest after X amount of cycles of being left fully grown?
@@Nathans-Sandbox Just wondering, are you sure about your calculations? I tried to calculate it for curiosity and i while 14 bristle blossom seems perfectly fine (grow + self harvest = 28 cycles, so 14 plants produce enough to craft berry sludge each 2 cycles) at sleet wheat i have feeling you are missing one plant (grow + self harvest = 76 cycles, so 10 plants produce 180 wheats per 76 cycles or 2,368 wheat per cycle, not enough to craft berry sludge each 2 cycles)... Ofc, I could be wrong!
3:26 will my idea for natural gas with farting duplicant be in this series? Edit:why dont you use diamond windows for ilumination of berries? Diamond blocks radiation pretty good.
Since those rooms will be closed off and the plants drop without harvest, I don't think this will be good. However, I intend to build a mutation lab once we have some more important stuff out off the way.
When you filter gasses, why aren't you using the gas filter machine? You already have it, and it does everything your automatic filtering does in the space of a gas bridge.
You're placing the ladders on the farms in the wrong order. You need to let pips plant from right to left or top to bottom (hanging plants from bottom to top). It also means you need to start with sleet wheat first. Check the "Pip Planting: Everything You Need to Know" guide on the Klei forum.
@@Nathans-Sandbox such mistakes are nice opportunity to learn something by viewers :) it's nice to see your progress though. That's a unique series you decided to make!

I added a good barrier in the next episode. Lead can actually heat up hotter than a normal steam room.

Just as a cool Easter egg you can make omelette from raw egg without dupe cooking it by heating it up to about 150 C° just an idea:)

How is that an easter egg?
It's becoming lovely tradition to turn on youtube every evening and watch what did our little Nathan today ❤️
😁

Will cool the turbine when it turns on later, didn't wanna use the cooling yet since it would attempt to cool the outside too.
So many series and still pipe routing is not the greatest) reverse to and bottom pipes and you will not need bridges) thank you for your series! :)
What bridge are you talking about? There are currently none apart from the aquatuners and the temporary oxygen pipe. Or do I misunderstand?
Hey, Nathan! You don't need to cook bristle berries in order to get berry sludge. Just a tip. Love the idea of this series. Keep up the good work!
I figured that out at some point, alas now we also have a grill there;)
For the infinite food storage i suggest using the hydrogen loop for the sleet wheat. The sleet wheat can survive the -18 needed to get the Deep Freeze effect.

Not sure if this is correct but consider adding a light in the cooking room to speed it up
I think he forgot that😆
Yes I should do that.
Pips plant right to left most efficiently, also your berry farm is open for the pips to plant there.
I messed the direction up yes🫣
Yay new episode! Sorry I was a bit late on this one lol
No problems;)
I just had a question. Why breaking manual doors made natural tile?? Is this a feature?
It's a feature that when enough debris falls it can form a full tile. It's similar to what happens with falling sand. The door is just a side effect that is probably not wanted by the devs.
I usually can't be arsed to do Pip planting, but off the top of my head I think you have that direction backwards.
Yes I had;)
But if u need light u have full exposure to space light. just use window tiles and let it flood from above.
Ah interesting didn't think of that.
I’m curious why you build things with the least amount of space possible? Not complaining, I just see all the space on the planetoid.
I guess it looks better to me when the space is used;)
I like the choice of berry sludge. Though, as someone has commented, berry sludge can be done without gristle berry
I figured that out eventually, might use it for additional cooking later down the line.
I'm new to this, but I've just observed a pip planting into a farm tile.
Yeah they can plant wherever plants can grow.
I noticed a lot of plans will fall perfectly into place when you use 12 wide rooms
👍
20:42 Call me a cheater but I use the natural tiles mod. Having the ability to drop a tile of dirt should be the most basic ability a dupe has.
I kind of agree with that!
Can you use glass tiles for the bristle berry, since you are on top of the asteroid? This way you can save some power and space from the lamps, maybe?
Then they will not grow on night
I guess you could have a cycle sensor so lights come on for a short time during the night. It’d look really cool.
I noticed the lamps only take 8 watts, it's probably not worth doing this.
is that plant calculation based on Nathan harvesting or based on the laborless harvest where the plant auto drops its harvest after X amount of cycles of being left fully grown?

Yes it's 14 and 11, but that is for 2 dupes. Once I have a prisoner dupe they will get other food.
love it thank you

I was just too late in reading that comment, so will struggle with that in the next episode, sorry!

put co2 in the farm for steril atmosphere 👍🏻
I'll put some chlorine in it.
Try astroneer please 🙂
Played it, good game.
It all seams so easy… but not egen I try it my self…

HELLO
Hi
So this channel became just a Oxygen Not Included channel now? Wow. You know I had great expectations from this channel. All these years waiting...
You can blame RUclips for this. Everytime I would switch the game I would also switch my entire audience. Not fun.
