This takes me back 😂 we used to fo this dessert in cookery class in school. Our home economics teacher used to have us put in fruit cocktail between the sponge amd the ice cream 😂

So easy , yet elegant looking! If I was making them, I wouldn’t be able to resist adding a good, big dollop of that raspberry sauce between the cake and the ice cream. It would make for a nice surprise when cutting into it.

Sounds great, but from a food science perspective not sure how that would work out, the sugar content of the syrup might heat up too quickly & melt the ice cream whilst baking?🤔🤓 Would be an interesting experiment though! 📝 🌡️ If you do try it out please let us know how it worked out Erin, because it sounds delicious! 😋

@@davidmurphy816 my thought was it would also be frozen along with the cake and ice cream, providing enough “insulation” to keep it from melting. (Even more so if they were blow torched!)

Icing sugar has corn flour in it,at least it does in the US it’s to stop it from clumping together.

You did a wonderful job! On GB Baking Show, Mary Barry always commented when cooks used a blow torch. Apparently, you don't get as nice a result as baking. Looks fine but the meringue is not cooked right.
