Salute to you Sudha Murthy Ma"am for raising such an appropriate issue in the Rajya Sabha... no doubt that we have many historical places and beautiful tourist spots but they are completely negelected not only by the government but us, the people, as well. Tourism in India is so stressful, not only for the foreigners, but we Indians also who are used to see trash and littering at every nook and corner since our childhood. The pathetic conditions of our bumpy roads with potholes makes us tired even before reaching the destination. Even uncovered manholes which we can find everywhere while walking are a serious threat to our lives. There is no access to safe drinking water and clean toilets so most of the times we, especially the women, have to dehydrate ourselves. Ma'am, since you have brought this topic in the lime light we can see a ray of hope that the Government will do something and we all will also contribute to the preservation of our monuments and tourist places.
