HEY FELLAS!!!
thank you all again SO MUCH for 200!!! i never thought i could get this far so quickly, and i couldn’t do it without each and every one of you.
now onto the song:
this song is titled “the idol”. it is about that all-too-familiar yearning to be as good as your inspirations and idols. for me personally, this song is about noah kahan. he has been SUCH a huge inspiration for me and i just can’t comprehend how much he influences me.
so what the plot of this song is about is actually the concert of his i attended in june. it was such an emotional experience. i was crying, laughing, jumping, and of course, screaming my lungs out. much of the song is inspired by that.
the second half of this song is inspired by a dream i had a couple days before the concert. i dreamed that i was there, and noah saw me in the crowd and brought me up onto the stage. i sang along with him for the rest of the show. when i woke up, i realized it wasn’t real, but there was still some kind of hope that he would notice me, up to when he came onstage. ultimately, he did not notice me, and when he came around my side of the seats, holding his hand out for a high five, i FUCKING MISSED. i was inches away and i missed.
there are lyrics in the song that allude to my feeling of wanting to be like him, wanting to be noticed by him, including the mention of “tagging him in every video i make”.
