Only now, do i think of how a coloring book might be a great way to learn to draw. I always went for the comic book dynamic poses. Coloring books might help with proportions. My Mom's McCall's sewing pattern envelope covers too. I do remember making fun of some of the people on them but they have good proportions and solid planted "everyday" people
A lot of them do have some really solid line art. I've been slowly relearning to draw after about a decade of not doing much more than doodling; and I do think working with these old pages (the good, the bad, & the ugly) has helped a lot with working on my own poses & figures as well as remembering that scenes should be dynamic.
