    States of Uttrakhand and himachal recieves abundant rainfall and latitudinally they exist in 30° - 35° zone. Why So ? and adding to that the thar dessert is between 26° - 30° ? Or is it that mansoon cancels out this effect ?? please clarify.

    I didn't get it.. Suppose hypothetically I am sitting at 30° South latitude facing towards the pole and lets apply some simple vector algebra
    1)Earth moves West to east right so I will observe air moving East to west right but because earth speed is higher at 30° than 60° south the vector at 30° will be longer than 60° one so
    (vector at 30° directed towards west - vector at 60° directed towards west ) = Positive vector directed towards west
    2)Now winds other movement is towards pole vertically from at 90° agle from 30° to 60° latitude
    we got two vectors one towards west and one towards 90° south perpendicular to this and the resultant will be towards South-West...And figure shows that direction is towards South-East
    Can anyone explain me?

    Why Polar easterlies are more regular in the southern hemisphere in comparison to the northern hemisphere?
    The flow of these winds(Polar easterlies) is altered by the Earth"s rotation and deflected towards the east.why?

    Winds from Sub tropical areas flow towards the equator. There they due heat the rise up and form clouds. These clouds condense and lose all its moisture through torrential rain. If it loses all the moisture then how can it again flow towards the Sub tropical region through divergence?

    • @shubhampayasi
      @shubhampayasi 5 лет назад +2

      Yes due to divergence... Since the air rising from eauator becomes cold at upper atmosphere and it can not rise further and the accumulation of this dry air started at upper atmosphere.... Due to more and more accumulation of this dry air due to the continuous incoming air from downward pushes it north and southward i.e. divergence of air started. This cold air after traveling some distance descends down at tropics and creats high pressure belt at tropics.

    Why westalies are having exact opposite direction of eastalies? How Does the coriolis effect has influenced, as The direction of rotation of earth is same at both the places?

    can anyone guide to answer this qn?
    What do you understand by heat balance or heat budget in meteorology? and also explain its significance in deciphering climate change?
    I have prepared an answer but still not satisfied with it.

    i have a doubt regarding direction of trade winds. Are the trade winds direction depends on coriolis effect?

    • @PoorMansFriend
      @PoorMansFriend  8 лет назад +1

      Yes, of course. Anything that travels over a large distance up above the earth's surface is subjected to Coriolis effect.

    • @cacmahimanshuagrawal9516
      @cacmahimanshuagrawal9516 8 лет назад +2

      BUT why the noth westerlies goes in right direction but acording to globe exercise they should move in left......PLZ clarify this que is going too hard for me...thank u

    • @PoorMansFriend
      @PoorMansFriend  8 лет назад

      Anything moving over a large distance in northern hemisphere deflects towards its right due to Coriolis effect.

    • @SanjeevKumar-ci8eg
      @SanjeevKumar-ci8eg 8 лет назад

      sir what u told is just Ferrel's law and i understand the mechanism of trade wind but in case of north westerlies, if the coriolis force acts then their movement should be in left dirn. so i am not able to understand the mechanism behind the dirn of westerlies....kindly clarify in detail.... thank u

    • @PoorMansFriend
      @PoorMansFriend  8 лет назад

      Westerlies are winds that flow from Subtropical High to Subpolar Low..
      They flow in South-West to North East Direction = Westerlies.

  • @shaktidharni2431
    @shaktidharni2431 7 лет назад

    sir I want to ask is it so that westerlies are more pronounced in winter .
    if yes than why.

    • @jpjai3510
      @jpjai3510 8 месяцев назад

      Because in winter low pressure in present on poles from sthp belt winds flow more fast towards poles..
