    Being born and raised in London here is some other advice for you:
    1. Please sit on the upper deck rather than bunching up on the bottom deck (a lot of the time I miss the bus due to that reason)
    2. At all costs avoid the 25 as it is always packed no matter what time of the day it is (due to it going from City Thameslink to Ilford up in East London) use it if you have to use it. If you need to travel between Aldgate and Bow you can use the 205. If you need to travel between Mile End and Ilford alternatively take the 425. If you are at Stratford and you need to go upto Ilford take the 86
    3. The hopper fare allows you to take unlimited bus journeys in 1 hour for absolutely free once you tapped in once for £1.50
    4. If you are 11-15, 16-18 you get free travel on the buses but you need to apply for the Zip Oyster Cards (which can be done online) if you are a Apprentice and a University student you get discounted travel on the buses but it is not free unfortunately
    5. When you eat or drink don't leave a mess on the floor. Please be responsible and chuck in in the bin when you get off the bus
    6. For tourists the buses I personally recommend are: 9,11, 15 and 24 bus routes
    That's about it! Please hit the like button!

    Tip: A seriously underrated but very useful bus route for sightseeing is the RV1. It takes you from The Tower of London to Covent Garden, crosses the Thames via two scenic bridges (Tower Bridge and Waterloo Bridge), and passes closer than almost any other public transport to Tate Modern, the London Eye and the South Bank. And yet, it's nearly always half empty when I use it. It's also one of the few bus routes that uses hydrogen fuel cell vehicles. Possibly the only downside is that there are no top-deck shenanigans to be had, as it's a single deck bus.

    i'm so glad i watched your vids. that city mapper app you mentioned in one of these videos absolutely made our trip to london a breeze and anyone reading this that is going there, heed her words about making your way to the exit before the bus stops. those bus drivers waste no time and they will take off. also definitely go up top and try to get the very front window seat. best way to see the city IMO.

    One other relatively new thing: the hopper fare. You can now transfer from one bus (or tram) to another within 1 hour (technically 1:09) without being charged a second fare. You still tap your card when boarding the 2nd bus but the system knows it's already charged you on the first bus, and doesn't charge you again. I don't think it was that way in 2016, when I first visited, but I was using a 7-day travelcard so it didn't affect me either way. Incidentally, all London buses are free to ride with any valid travelcard, no matter what zone(s) it covers. I take advantage of that quite a bit... with a zone 1-3 travelcard, take a train as far as a zone 3 station, then take a bus further out.

    Cool video! Another thing worth mentioning is the importance of looking at both the route number AND destination before boarding. When buses are running extremely late the driver’s are sometimes told to terminate early to get them back on time going the other way, much to the annoyance of passengers who want to go right to the end!

      Route 15 is Best, they run s mix of new buses and old, its worth waiting for the old Routemaster. This runs from Tower Bridge/Tower of London to Trafalgar Square via St Pauls and the city of London. London is too big to cover all those places on 1 bus .

    are the hop on hop off tours worth it? We were just there last month and went on one all around London for a day, and saw pretty much everything. However I felt afterwards that I could have seen them myself if I went on the Tube, especially since I had a paper travelcard...

    • @loveandlondon
      @loveandlondon  8 лет назад +2

      Hi Ubayd! I've been on one before and I'd say they are a different experience, and worth it depending on what you want to get out of your visit and where you plan to go. It was great for me because I was with my parents who aren't terribly keen on public transport and we also couldn't walk everything. I also like that instead of being underground while traveling between spots, you are above and get to see lots of things around the city on your way! I also felt that it was pretty convenient for most of the touristy-spots around the city, whether you want to get off and see them or just drive past them.

    • @WalkingAccountant
      @WalkingAccountant 8 лет назад

      Hi Diego nope you just tap it once. For multiple adults you need to each have your own oyster.

    What will happen if you can't tap your card in the bus? Just curious.

    • @loveandlondon
      @loveandlondon  4 года назад +1

      That would only happen if it wasn't working and the bus driver would just let everyone on.

    I have a question of London bus that i can't figure it out since two years ago. When i took a bus in London, the bus suddenly stopped at Regent Street and request all passenger to get off. The driver didn't say much about this and i don't understand why.... i am sure that location wasn't the destination of the bus (coz i took it too in the previous day). it seemed all passenger in that bus knew what was happening but me...
    Can you tell me the reason please ? Thanks a lot.

    • @loveandlondon
      @loveandlondon  7 лет назад

      +Pepper No it could a few reasons but sometimes the same bus line will stop the service at different stops :)

    • @Epyon1105
      @Epyon1105 7 лет назад

      Really ? i totally didn't notice that. if so, what sign can i get knowing that the bus would stop at which stop ?

    • @loveandlondon
      @loveandlondon  7 лет назад

      It should say on the front of the bus, or you can ask the driver, or they will announce it.

      There may have been an On screen alert (orange information thing) that said the bus was diverting

    Is it true that the bus doesn't have an a/c just like the tube ??

    Good video for tourists but not for Londoners. Everything you mentioned about London buses is common knowledge for almost every Londoner. Nonetheless good video, I was hoping to find out one or two new things I didn't know about London Buses, when I clicked on this video.

      The majority of Americans (and even non-Americans) live in places where they've never taken public transportation before.

      That's true but in California where I am from, everyone drives. Luckily in places like San Diego we have a trolley/light rail system as does San Fran. so it's not completely foreign :)

      It's funny how they refer to the underground lines as colours. For example, the central line is known as "the red line" to them 😂😂
