Verse 1:
I'll never let you get under my skin, unless you already did
I know some monsters come from within, one of which i'll never be rid
Crash landed, and Houston we have a problem
Cracked open a planet, and a pandemic caught us
Swallowed whole, the moment it marked us
Scarred us, turned us inside out and mocked us
Walked around in our skin, with a cadaverous mask
Can't even let the dead rest and leave the past in the past
I'm glad that i'm aptly strapped with plasma gats
Ready to wipe off my feet on these hazardous mats
Maybe i'm haunted by my tragic past
But i'll rip my demons limb from limb till i'm fresh outta gas
Sorry but i had to vent just now
So if you're crawling through an air duct hunker down
I mean it, keep to yourself or you'll be placed in stasis
Cuz the dead have yet to remain dead, they're graveless
Now i'm up to my neck in this, hardly fight 'em off
My name is Isaac Clarke, and soon i'm signing off
Chorus:
Survival's all i've left to do
As you become nothin' but memory
I know that i was never dead to you
But i'll move forward because you're dead to me
Verse 2:
I guess i let you get under my skin, for death i have an affinity
We all keep some demons within which we suppress with divinity
What happens when you're lackin' resources
And you're a hack, neck deep in external forces
For sure, Ishimura could not afford this
So rife with strife, and no life insurance
But now we're wound up tight like a corset
Of corpses, guts ruptured - it's abhorrent
Shoulder blades made literal, form distorted
Into an awful entity - sentience unimportant
Carnage this visceral could never last
Natural selection nobody's gettin' past
My degree in engineering - mechanic
But now i'm second guessing, wish i went with genetic
Is everyone demented, defective, infected
I stare death in the face and yet, i'm irreverent
Perseverance, keepin' me movin'
Just the memory of you is keepin' me human
Chorus:
Survival's all i've left to do
As you become nothin' but memory
I know that i was never dead to you
But i'll move forward
Bridge:
Why bother screaming, don't see the point
No one will hear it, we're in the void
As i drift into darkness doom is drawing near me
And all along i'm screamin' but nobody hears me
Chorus:
Survival's all i've left to do
As you become nothin' but memory
I know that i was never dead to you
But i'll move forward because you're dead to me
Because you're dead to me
