For anyone wanting tips for gentler handling in this situation: drop a towel on him from above and scoop him out from the top entrance, supporting his whole body and tucking him close to you. Using a towel to wrap them let’s you keep the pointy bits contained and makes the cat feel contained and comfortable. Scruffing is generally best reserved for emergencies (ie: cat trying to bite your assistant) or procedures that they need to be very still for, such as blood draws. Treats can help with some cats, but most cats don’t eat when they’re stressed. Cats prefer to have stable ground beneath them, so press down to restrain as opposed to lifting them in the air. The Vancouver Vet has a lot of great tips on cat handling, so check him out if you want to learn more!
What a way to injure a cat. Don't ever stick a metal hemastat into its mouth. There are special tools for that, they have soft rubber tips. Available in pet stores.

Yes the vet was audibly mocking the cat at the end for feeling uncomfortable. Then he said Duh to the cat. He does not understand cat meows. Obviously something happened after he mocked the cat because there is a clip edit jumping to where the pill was administered.
My ginger boy is the sweetest cat. That is until he gets to the vet. It took 3 techs to hold him and I could hear him from the waiting area. He sounded like a screaming toddler! My poor sweet orange boy ❤
Half of the people commenting about how the vet treated the cat poorly or roughly probably don't know things about cats. 1. Cats are not as fragile as you think they are. They can land on their feet even after falling from 50 feet above. 2. The way the vet holds the cat by the nape, is similar to how all cat species (cats, tigers, lions etc) hold their young ones to carry them from one place to another, and they don't have hands like us, they hold their young ones with their teeth. I can definitely say if small kittens can survive a few minutes in those teeth, an adult cat can definitely live fine being held like that for some moments. 3. Stop coddling your cats as if they are babies. Cats are very independent creatures.

@@videoseliminadosdelsrred6963 They're just being fast and efficient. Being slow will cause the animal a Lot of Stress. This is the way our vet does it. I will say that he did a good job.
Apparently my cat is super lovey at the vet. Mind you this is the same cat that death rolls and screams the moment you pick him up. And yet they’ve taken to calling him Mr.loverboy. He’s a super affectionate cat but he doesn’t like being made to do stuff too so I’ll believe it when I actually see it. My other two cats are the equivalent of pet rocks.
My cats both just sit there and ket it happen. I know it looks rough but the quicker you do your job the better it is for the animal to get them out of the situation. Its like that in my job (although ive jever had a cat act up but one in almost 4 years) with some sogs we have to pin them down and do shots, deworm, bordatella, etc really fast and once we let go they settle down and go back to normal. It looks rough but its better than prolonging the experience when they clearly dont want to be there.
Hmphm. I've seen them gentle and patient with abused neglected cats and understood the need for firmness and speed with the ferocious cats, but I guess I am surprised to have to agree... this cat did not deserve that treatment. He was a good boy.
We all must remember that this is not an American vet, they treat and view animals differently in different parts of the world. I agree that this is way too aggressive for a cat
On the one hand, I don't know if they're having to process a lot of animals and don't have time to play, but the "Bad Dog" photo on the table says to me that maybe they're already looking at the animals adversarially and that seems counter to the profession.
These vets clearly dislike animals. And probably humans too. The cat, by the way must have sensed their attitude and didn't want to leave the cage because of that from the start. The only advice I have for someone with this kind of attitude is: find another job. No animal has to be traumatised because of your issues. (I have seen several videos from this channel, and they are always mean like that. It's really cringy.)
Poor little dude didn’t want to be there, but also didn’t put up a huge fuss 🥺
