I adopted a cat 2yrs ago and he has an extremely loud purr and loves anyone. When I took him to the Vet last year he just kept on purring and rubbing up against the Vet and head booping her. The Vet took him in the back to draw some blood and brought him back in. Then she brought him back in, still purring like he always does. This year, as soon as she entered the exam room and looked at his name on the chart, she remembered his purrs and as soon as I took him out of the carrier (he's not a fan of the carrier) he immediately started his purring again and the Vet said he's been her favorite kitty she's ever dealt with and that the staff liked him too. The only downside to his purring is that he snores just as loud.😂. When I got him from the shelter, they told me he'd been returned once because he was "too loud and too needy". Yeah, I gotta turn the TV up some if he's purring or snoring, but his loving nature for everyone makes up for it. ❤

@@supotter377 He’s a vet.. this is his job and he knows better than anyone how to correctly handle the situation. Grabbing the cat by her nape doesn’t hurt.
For anyone wanting tips for gentler handling in this situation: drop a towel on him from above and scoop him out from the top entrance, supporting his whole body and tucking him close to you. Using a towel to wrap them let’s you keep the pointy bits contained and makes the cat feel contained and comfortable. Scruffing is generally best reserved for emergencies (ie: cat trying to bite your assistant) or procedures that they need to be very still for, such as blood draws. Treats can help with some cats, but most cats don’t eat when they’re stressed. Cats prefer to have stable ground beneath them, so press down to restrain as opposed to lifting them in the air. The Vancouver Vet has a lot of great tips on cat handling, so check him out if you want to learn more!
That cat is so sweet and they handled him so roughly! I worked as a vet tech and Ive never seen a cat handled so roughly from the the start by a medical professional. They need retraining or smthg. Edit: To all the people saying cats are tough and don't get injured easily, I wasn't addressing the cat getting injured- tho I wouldn't be surprised if that happened more frequently than it should at this vet. I was discussing the vet stressing the cat out for no reason. As someone who deals with cats like this daily, it's hard enough for their owners to get cats to the vet office without overly stressing them out (which many times accidents in the car happen when you have a stressed out cat.) As vet techs, we try to handle the cat as gently, quickly, and efficiently as possible to not cause them to panic like what happened here. They didn't even need to take the cat out of it's carrier. In this situation, you'd remove the top of the carrier, have one vet hold the cat still- by the scruff and sometimes with a towel, and have the other give the injections. Imagine being handled like in the video every time you went to the doctor. You'd probably vomit and deficate from stress in the car and at the office as well. Do better.
The only part that was actually rough was the random sliding across the table that didn't really affect the cat in any way it's in hurt the cat it's just a weird thing to do since you could just lift the cat up by the scruff but after that everything they did was completely fine
@@doriankamanzi6874the whole thing was unnecessarily rough. You also never lift adult cats by the scruff without holding their body too, it hurts them. The cat was scared but very calm and not agressive until they kept being rough with it and ir started scratching. You can also juat work with the owner to keep the cat calmer. They are basically turning a very docile cat into one that will get more defensive every time it goes to the vet due to how they handle it.
Naw my dudes. Op is right. That was unnecessarily rough. Grabbing at him inside the carrier, shaking him out, that yank back of his head, scruffing the way he did, and whatever that was at the end right before the cat finally scratched him. Sure, it was standard procedure, but it was still more rough than it had to be. My family and I would never go to that vet if we saw them treating our pet like this. The vet I always went to had good, kind, gentle, competent workers. When my hedgie had to go in for surgery, the surgeon reached for the carrier slowly and carefully almost as if he didn’t want *me* to get aggressive toward him for going after my baby.
@@Sniperboy5551honestly no. This dragging the cat out of the cage thing, not exactly a good method. They could just open the cage up and be more gentle especially when the cat is gentle enough. I've seen so many different vets handle cats even the neurotic ones and they handle it with so much love. You can hear the love and calm from their voice to the way they handle the cat. This to me is ptsd inducing.
Yeah icecold handling of the cat here, how hard is it to tilt the box gently and let the cat out. Unnecessary dominant behaviour from the vet here. 😢 My vet shows a lot more empathy.

Most of the cats dont trust the vet (given how angry the cats are) but thats not stopping him from treating the cats, he does not hurt them in anyway still. Even the owners are okay with his methods. thirdly, I do not think that he carried the cat on the table to harm it because he did not hold him in a painful way at all It is normal to hold cats this way and he will not be harmed properly he just wanted to see his size and the length of his torso
I assure you that people have no experience with how a vets should deal with animals they do not own them or knowing for these animals and they may behave in a very chaotic

Dummy
Such a polite little kitty
So rough with him! If the vet handled my cat like that, he would catch these hands.
Yeah you're quite a 10 degree black belt
I wouldn't have to do anything. My cat can be an A-hole 😭 She's skittish and well-behaved at the vet, but definitely makes it known if she really doesn't like someone. But thankfully, she's fairly patient.
If you forced me out my safe space, strong armed me by the nape and pricked me with a needle no I wouldn’t be exactly thrilled to visit you either 😂
he's just so scared poor litle thing, he needs some hugs and pats
You can take off the top of the box by unscrewing the screws. There’s like 4 to 8 of them depending on the box. It avoids having to invert the box as if you’re trying to take out the last cookie in the box, and much nicer for the animal 😊
Please help this poor cat survive. She so doesn't deserve to go through what she's going through.God bless you for helping her and God bless her. She's such a sweetheart and little angel.Don't let her die, please. Please help her

What?
Y’all are being dramatic
@@Orvvv200This guy is rough with the cat it isn’t dramatic

DUMB is the perfect description.
Probably the most relaxed cat I've seen so far. ❤❤❤
You think basic procedure is rough? Wait til you see how they gotta handle the aggressive ones.
lol she said she was a vet tech, you think she doesnt know procedure? GTFOH with your excuses clown @@caffeinatedpossum

The comment acknowledges the cat has been "treated poorly" and states the commenter would "never pay a dime" for such service.
The comment states the "vet had better be free" - not 're-educated', just "free" - thereby suggesting they condone such 'service' provided it's "FREE".

Whoever was giving him the shot has no concept of how to handle an animal especially one that wasn’t giving him any trouble. You have no business being around animals.
I agree, he was aggressive towards the cat from the start. Frankly, so is his assistant. Taking the cat out of the carrier like that was unnecessary. There are much gentler safer and calmer ways to remove the cat from the carrier. They just didn’t have time for it.that’s how it seemed. His entire interaction with the cat was very monotonous. There is no connection no kind, loving, gentle, comforting energy. I don’t know, I wouldn’t want my vet to be like him. I know that much.

As if youre a better vet than he is, you have absolutely no idea how many angry cats he has dealt with (with care). Not only your comment is baseless, you are an example of the dunning kruger effect coming into play. Please do research about anything and not comment anything before making any findings then jumping into conclusions, its like answering a question without understanding the topic. You have no clue what you are saying, its all based your feelings which is why I say its baseless.
The end part and maybe the scruff grabbing at best, I can see being a problem with. For the most part, they were being hella gentle and reasonable with that cat, so I wouldn't try acting like a Vet from Temu
@@zekeaffy9647 Just watch other vets work is enough to tell. If others can do it more gently with cats more agressive, there's no reason that this one can't.
@@lazyshoggy That is true for the most part, usually the vet in the video finds ways to deal with angry cats all the time, his methods change overtime, I have seen his methods change from this to another. This one was unexpected, he thought the cat would be like other cats, be angry and fierce. Most of the cats dont trust the vet (given how angry the cats are) but thats not stopping him from treating the cats, he does not hurt them in anyway still. Even the owners are okay with his methods. He does become gentle when he treats them unconsious.
And that is why they do it behind the scenes so you don’t have to see. This was a completely normal interaction with a cat.
