I'm Japanese and read " No Longer Human " in Japanese. " No Longer Human " is an autobiographical novel by Osamu Dazai, but it's not an autobiography, which should be clearly recognized. The evidence is that Dazai himself was a successful novelist at that time.
Dazai committed suicide later, but the reason given in his will was that he "could not write anymore," not because he was despaired of his past life. I don't believe this novel will give hope to those suffering from relationships, sex, or drug addictions, but at least it can share their pains.
