I really appreciate the skill of these videos. No one comes even close to documenting and recording this game in the same quality. I hope Covenant takes pride.
It still bothers me how misinformed/confused the commentators get at times though. All of these videos are done after the fact allowing plenty of time to get facts straight. There are some groups that are worse about it sure, but they don't get to cover worlds. If you want to be the gold standard in something you have to be held to it. TC does do a good job, but now that we're 3 years into this game it would be nice to see that get cleaned up. There are mistakes all over the gen con and worlds videos. One of the semi finals matches from this tourney even features an apology at the beginning. Just avoid those mistakes in the first place :P I mean this as constructively as possible. I wouldn't even bother pointing out such things with groups that aren't the "gold standard".
Yeah, and the rare occasional mistake is one thing, I'm just saying that some videos that are very important videos to try to get right (worlds coverage) have mistakes throughout the entire video. One example being the top 4 paul heaver match vs ira meyers. R2D2 is used the entire match and the commentators aren't entirely sure how it works. For a group that gets the exclusive access that they do, and gets constant praise from people, I'm just saying it needs to be tightened up.
I think the making mistakes makes it even kind of more realistic. After all they're just two guys commentating something we all love, so why not make a mistake now and then. it feels way more authentic and as if it was live! thats why i watch these guys. Keep up the great videos and may the force be with you guys! :D
Great commentary, always looking forward to your vids. Would suggest an offset between the camera and the tripod to have a straight down view rather than with angle.
15:56 The rebel player pushes the Falcon slightly in two directions before placing the movement template in front of him. The first move, slightly to the side, ensured that there was no risk of hitting an asteroid as the ship moved forward. It was also moved a bit forward to put some distance with respect to Phantom guns. That wasn't just sloppy play, it was done on purpose.
+david scebat The first attack missed because Han took (and spent) an Evade token; the commentators reported that incorrectly. So because it missed, Whisper got her second attack with Gunner. This was a poor move on the part of the rebel player, because taking one hit on shields would have been a better choice than spending the Evade token and giving Whisper a second shot, which in this case gave her four hits instead of one.
First time the Phanton shot at Han he used his evade token against ONE hit??? It triggered gunner so Han lost 3 more shield. There must be something i didnt understand here.
FFG made a change to the tournament rules as far as Cloaking and De-Cloaking goes. I believe now. Instead of de cloaking and then revealing your maneuver. You de-cloak in the planning phase, before any maneuvers have been set.
To a certain extent yes. a little easier to block but easier to be in a better position against it. I haven't played a game with the new rule yet however. I haven't heard much about it since they released the rule.
Mitigating the dice, but in the end, it remains a dice game... Amazing rolls against the Falcon + poor rolls on Corran vs. Whisper... And that's the game...
Mathieu Beauregard They label them RAW with the upgrades listed. Chiraneau is PS8, with a Veteran Instincts upgrade he moves and shoots at PS10, which you will notice was done correctly in game.
Aleksander Cvijetic this is actually how the Phantoms worked originally! Prior to the latest FAQ, a cloaked unit de-cloaked just before revealing their maneuver dial.

Tristian Bedlington Thank you! We will continue to do everything that we can to make these productions as valuable as possible.

Travis Cooper I'm not saying its perfect. I said that I was very happy their videos. But yes, I agree they sometimes make mistakes.

At 37:39 that is a great piece of maneuvering - Imperials just pincer in on E-Wing. The way Whisper was flown in this match is classic.
Finally some decent watchable X-wing coverage. Great commentary and editing. I think you're on to something here.
Michael Rives Thanks Michael. We'll keep innovating on this style of game reporting so that it can be as awesome as possible.
Team Covenant I love watching ur vids
You guys are the reason I got into the game. Thanks for your enthusiasm and overall knowledge of the game.
Cody Malt So great to hear Cody. We will keep it up!
I'm so happy that it wasn't a mirror match, I'll be back down here in the comments once I finish watching!
What a game and after this match i really think that new Phantom nerf is a well-placed nerf. Decloak was game-breaking, now it's somewhat better
please bring back the shooting effects from "Kessel Run 2012 - X-Wing - Finals". They look awesome!
Just getting into X-Wing, long time 40K player here. Great work on this video. New Subscriber now.
+WolfTau Great to have you WolfTau! Welcome! X-Wing is simply phenomenal. You're going to love it.
Got to love how Whisper patiently circles until he can get in position.
Great commentary, always looking forward to your vids. Would suggest an offset between the camera and the tripod to have a straight down view rather than with angle.

How has this Rebel player made it to the top table?
Tobias Winter Agreed, many mistakes, like not taking a hit and instead getting 4 with gunner...
E-Wing from the top looks like the old school Colonial Vipers from BSG (original series). You guys do great batreps - keep up the good work!
+Ernest Spencer Thank you Ernest! The E-Wing love is strong around here :)

How comes Whisper shoots twice in a row at 13:10 ?
+david scebat The first attack missed because Han took (and spent) an Evade token; the commentators reported that incorrectly. So because it missed, Whisper got her second attack with Gunner. This was a poor move on the part of the rebel player, because taking one hit on shields would have been a better choice than spending the Evade token and giving Whisper a second shot, which in this case gave her four hits instead of one.
that playmat is ridiculous! where is it from?
rdilgart That's one of our in-house mats. We may put that design up for sale at some point!
At 17 minutes the phantom shot and missed, but didn't activate gunner?
i know, i did a dumb
gavin smith it confused me lol
Couldn't the decimator have killed the falcon with vader on the turn where it went to 1?
Would really have loved some background noise, keep it low. Would add to the atmosphere :)
First time the Phanton shot at Han he used his evade token against ONE hit??? It triggered gunner so Han lost 3 more shield. There must be something i didnt understand here.
+Michael Harder Same question here...
amazing game. Corran made one mistake, and it took away his shot for four turns.
Great match!
You guys should do a reaction and explanation of the new cloaking change from FFG. Would love to see what you guys think.
XBrycent cloaking change?
FFG made a change to the tournament rules as far as Cloaking and De-Cloaking goes. I believe now. Instead of de cloaking and then revealing your maneuver. You de-cloak in the planning phase, before any maneuvers have been set.
XBrycent well that takes away the surprise factor...
To a certain extent yes. a little easier to block but easier to be in a better position against it. I haven't played a game with the new rule yet however. I haven't heard much about it since they released the rule.
Whisper should be PS9 right?
+Mathieu Beauregard She was.
Mitigating the dice, but in the end, it remains a dice game... Amazing rolls against the Falcon + poor rolls on Corran vs. Whisper... And that's the game...
Well that was definitely "Classic"
Where be the hamburger? (Yes i am actually looking for a burger reference in every video )
pizzaguardian Surely it's a setup, given your name.
And Chiraneau should be PS10...
Mathieu Beauregard They label them RAW with the upgrades listed. Chiraneau is PS8, with a Veteran Instincts upgrade he moves and shoots at PS10, which you will notice was done correctly in game.
You play it absolut wrong !
The Phantom have to decloak first .....
To many mistakes
Aleksander Cvijetic this is actually how the Phantoms worked originally! Prior to the latest FAQ, a cloaked unit de-cloaked just before revealing their maneuver dial.
Pre update game. Old rules my friend
I hate the ambiguity of this game...
+Ricky Wright What do you find ambiguous about it?
Movement mainly.
Ricky Wright Movement is done according to maneuver templates of preset length and/or curve. How is that ambiguous?
Tbh.. I made that comment months ago. I can barely remember.
