  • Save your hard earned money! DIY video on how to remove window tint and glue left behind on your windows in less than five minutes using only the five household items found below.
    Items used:
    1.) Hair dryer to heat up the window
    2.) Extension Cord (optional, might not be needed if you have the worlds longest extension cord or doing this in your garage)
    3.) Glass Scraper (this is the one I used, only $4 and works great) www.homedepot.....
    4.) Goo-Gone (the ammonia in the Windex will work too, but I have found the goo-gone works better) www.homedepot.....
    5.) Windex www.homedepot.....
    6.) Paper Towels

    Bruh thanks 🙏🏽🙏🏽🙏🏽 I did all my windows and the back window in like 30 min, this way faster and simpler than the trash bag method

    Thank You for the vid. Very helpful and informational. It would have been nice though to have extended the vid or made a part 2 showing the rear windshield removal method.

    Will try this today, 3 tickets for too dark of tint is 3 too many. I have used this method to remove the decals off of our camper also. Thank You

      Good luck, it’s pretty straight forward. The glass scraper and hair dryer are key imo.

    OMG thank you for this. I was thinking this was possible, so I Googled it found you. Called a tint window company they said $250 to remove it and $250 to install new tint. My tint messed up from last year 110 heat we had. It bubbled up. Tint been on my car since I purchased it in 2015 ,so that terrible heat destroyed it. Again thank you

    Another way to do it is get some black garbage bags and cut them to fit the window. Spray some soapy water on the tint then put the garbage bag on the tint. Leave it on for about 15 minutes in the sun. Then you can just pull the tint off with no glue residual left behind.

    I did the same today. I removed window tint from my windshield. In 2 minutes, no joking, i did the hole window. I did it with a heat gun at 60 degrees. No glue was stay behind. So was mine bad quality or what?? The tint compagny was sell my tint as a safety film and second the tint. So i had double film..

    Would it be easier if you heated it as you go ?

    I traded cars and got this garage kept 2006 chevy cobalt. It had tint and it was dark and hard to see through. Had the whole car done in 3 hours. I did take a half hour coffee break. The kid told me he has been stopped several times by police and I thought this will go!!

    Question, if the hair dryer works, what happens on a sunny day when the car sits in direct sunlight

    • @EarnestProductions
      @EarnestProductions  Год назад +1

      The tint doesn’t just fall off, the hairdryer helps with removing it easier because the glue is warmed up. A hot summer day yes the glue with warm up, but you aren’t trying to pick at the tint I hope.

    I did it today with a heat gun which should give a better effect but unfortunately, my whole window is now covered with glue.

    I’m about to take off 10 year old tint, will those method still work?

    • @EarnestProductions
      @EarnestProductions  2 года назад +1

      I don’t see why not, mine was 4. Just heat it up well, have a glass scrapper, and maybe some goo gone and windex and you should be good.

    Call me crazy but I'm scared. Won't the heat crack the window?

      If it didnt crack EVERYBODY's window from that 100-105 heat we had last year than I do not think the blow dryer will

      Its ok during the day, but man, it's scary at night losing that much visibility. I am about to go out and do this now so I can safely get through the winter.

    Hmmm? Other vids I watch they all used the heat while removing the film, less glue to clean up?

    • @EarnestProductions
      @EarnestProductions  3 года назад +4

      Hi Sharon, the blow dryer has plenty of heat to get the tint and most of the glue off. Obviously you may need to use the $5 glass scrapper to get the rest off. But just put the dryer to the high heat setting and you will be fine as you can see from the video. I was also trying to make a video with mostly products that were readily available in homes. Good luck.

    In texas ,here its 25% anything lower is a failed test. I need a tint thatll past every inspection.

      End of lease and needed to return car in original condition. Make sure to get ceramic at least and it will block out a lot of heat.

    I notice that all these DIY videos NEVER have the guy taking the tint off the windshield.

    • @EarnestProductions
      @EarnestProductions  Год назад

      Yeah, I have never tinted the front of my cars, but I might try it with a light heat blocking tint. Would be nice to stop some more areas where the heat can enter the car. Have a good one sir!

    pro tip; you don't have to turn the engine on to lower the window.

  • @ratsliveonnoevilstar1

    Better to heat the window as you go. Otherwise you end up skimming glue off with a razor for half an hour

      Thanks for the extra tip Tom. Luckily I didn’t really have that problem but if it works for others awesome. Have a good one sir. 👍🏼
