I'm American and he is right about pronunciation of Sanskrit mantras. I studied Sanskrit for over a year before I could properly use a manta. It takes a good ear too of course to gauge sounds. But most americans are not very deep with anything besides eating and drinking, facebook, etc. Most here follow trends then drop them. The way he speaks itself shows how active he spiritually is. Many of us speak without being conscious of what we speak. But guru is just feeling his spirits and energy flowing through him while he speaks, and interacts. Marvelous!
When my spirit lead me to chanting and mantras, one of the few first mantras I was attracted spiritually was Gayantri Mantra, and when I listened it first time I was so deeply touched soul wise and energetically as I kept listening and chanting it for days in a row , my soul didn't have enough of it and I was crying at times while chanting it like a child, I still chant it to this days at times, thank you Sadhguru for this wonderful video and explanation of this amazing soul changing mantra.
In our times Sadhguru is a blessing. We lost ritualistic era because of mishandling and exploitation in wrong hands. Sadhguru is a great master of internal healing and teaches only the most appropriate and that too in a correct dose with proper care and caution. Good to have this great master amongst us.

Many of these mantras contains sounds that donot have any specific meaning but reciting those words in a certain tone with correct pronunciation can lead you to the object you are looking for. By wrongly reciting those words you may attract energies that are not conducive for you. Think of mantras as radio frequencies . If you tune into the right frequency you get the desired channel you are looking for else no.

Improper pronunciation of mantras destroys us, it has very negative effect on our life.. this is very true, I was aware of it, but neglected this fact.. I don’t think Sadguru got a chance to speak enough (or anything) about the mantra in this video. Or maybe video editing reduced the content. I have practiced Gayatri for many years and the impact of the mantra is much more spiritually profound. This is one mantra that kept the spirituality alive for thousands of generations in India. I’d like to hear more about the mantra from Sadguru. He has brought amazing clarity about many seemingly complicated practices and I feel blessed to be able to listen and experience a bit of him. But this one did not impress me.

In your translation you forgot to mention "may we meditate on the adorable light of divine Savita who unfolds our buddhies (intuitions)". All verbs and pronouns are in plural form, meaning the prayer is for all mankind. This makes it the most powerful (full of shakti) mantr. It's not an easy mantr to recite as it's full of symbolism and requires a certain attitude on the part of the worshipper. Good luck.

I started reciting the Gayatri mantra in the morning for 3 days now. Before my Upa yoga practice I recite Gayatri Mantra facing the sun and today I felt I am doing something is not proper and instead of reciting the mantra 3 times I stopped at first and started doing my Upa Yoga practice. @@zipsteri I enjoy Sadhguru's videos and his insights on many things, but I also feel what he's said here is inconsistent with a lot of what I've read elsewhere, as well as my own experience with the Gayatri Mantra. It's unfortunate. His teachings stand in their own right. He doesn't have to cast shade on others.

Just try to abstain from meat and alcohol when doing a formal sadhana of Mother Gayatri, and stay clean. Try to take a bath and do some alternate nostril breathing before and after the mantra if possible and meditate afterwards.

That's so informative on mantras. I learnt not to utter any mantras without guidance of a respective person /Guru. I didn't know it would have such an impact on a person if uttered improperly. I don’t think Sadguru got a chance to speak enough (or anything) about the mantra in this video. Or maybe video editing reduced the content. I have practiced Gayatri for many years and the impact of the mantra is much more spiritually profound. This is one mantra that kept the spirituality alive for thousands of generations in India. I’d like to hear more about the mantra from Sadguru. He has brought amazing clarity about many seemingly complicated practices and I feel blessed to be able to listen and experience a bit of him. But this one did not impress me.

In your translation you forgot to mention "may we meditate on the adorable light of divine Savita who unfolds our buddhies (intuitions)". All verbs and pronouns are in plural form, meaning the prayer is for all mankind. This makes it the most powerful (full of shakti) mantr. It's not an easy mantr to recite as it's full of symbolism and requires a certain attitude on the part of the worshipper. Good luck.

I started reciting the Gayatri mantra in the morning for 3 days now. Before my Upa yoga practice I recite Gayatri Mantra facing the sun and today I felt I am doing something is not proper and instead of reciting the mantra 3 times I stopped at first and started doing my Upa Yoga practice. If you want to know Gayatri please listen to Pandit Shri Ram Sharma Acharya ji, no one can explain better than him on Gayatri. He has done 24 Mahapurshcharan for 24 years, each year 24 lakh mantra, he was on Jau Roti and Chaach, which does not constitute Salt, Sugar etc.

I don't think what Satguru said about Gayatri mantr is correct. No one can be physically harmed - like losing your voice - by reciting Gayatri mantr, how-so-ever badly the pronunciation may be. The lady was distressed for some other reason. Satguru eased her mind.

Sir, Sri, thank you for introducing this treasure to me. I recognize it as a gift from our shared ancestors, given to them by... I don't know what to say... Tat?. Respectfully, I move forward without "initiation" (I don't know what it means but I do not think Sadhguru meant this video to count). My heart is full of love and my mind is capable of extremely nuanced study of sound and rhythm, and feeling. I accept any ill effects as correction. Mother gives and Mother punishes 🤷🏽♀️
Just try to abstain from meat and alcohol when doing a formal sadhana of Mother Gayatri, and stay clean. Try to take a bath and do some alternate nostril breathing before and after the mantra if possible and meditate afterwards.

As per ancient texts like Sreepad Sreevallabha Charitraamrutam, each syllable of Gayatri mantra activates a specific power in the body.
Thus 24 powers are invoked corresponding to the 24 syllables of Gayatri mantra.
Gayatri mantra can be chanted 108 times every day after bath , facing East.
We must thank Rishi Vishwamitra before chanting as He , having received it from Brahma gave it to the entire humanity.
