Go cook it! It's one of the healthiest grains in the world! Got Bob's Red Mill Teff today and can't wait to try it after reading so many good information about it.
This is so good, I just made this for the first time on 1/24/16 my family and I loved it. Thank you for helping my family transition with these yummy!! recipes. Keep them coming. May the Most High bless you and yours.
Wow, this is so interesting. I've been eating teff since I was a baby in injera form as I am Eritrean, but this is such a new and exciting way to eat it! Can't wait to try! I'm sure my family will think I'm crazy but what a way to mix cultures. Love it.
I used to make cornbread with the grain about 10 years ago. I hate that I lost the recipe for that, it was my favorite treat. I'm glad that teff is finally getting more recognition in The States.
I'm going to try this porridge recipe in the am and add this to my expanding self made teff cookbook. Thanx for spreading this and spelt and irish moss and all these ancient goodies that need to become our staples for good health like they used to be way back when.
Where can I buy your self made teff recipes cookbook. If you haven’t thought of that I’d encourage you to and if you have share the link to purchase plzzz lol
When I make Teff porridge I find it makes it easier to to cook by first grinding it as you said into flour using my Cuisinart coffee grinder... Then I toast the grains in a hot pan.. for 10- 15 minutes.. Then I add water to make the porridge. To me it makes it easier to eat & digest with less chewing.
hope the was Ceylon Cinnamon? Have you guys tried it? Much better than commercial cinnamon. It also has good minerals. You can also slow simmer a pot of it and its natural sweetness appears. It is good cold on a summer day or hot during the winter. Helps with blood pressure and excellent for digestion. This was a good video. I will have to try TEFF. I looks like it cooks up like cream of wheat.
thanks. I like spelt. amaranth I don't like. great recipe. do you eat wild rice? if so could you do a few recipes on how you use it besides just eating the rice. its very hard to chew. if you have better suggestions on making it less chewy I appreciate it. thanks again.
Love this Channel! Keep doing your thing it’s greatly appreciated! I would also recommend support for Ty’s Conscious Kitchen for more alkaline recipes.
For the first time I cooked some Teff porridge today with blueberries in almond milk: 250gram Teff and 500gram almond milk. I brought it to a boil (2, 3 seconds), then covered it and cooked for 25 minutes on a low heat. It did thicken up a lot but the grains still had a bit of a bite to them. It didn't go completely soft like oatmeal. Is this how it's meant to be? What exactly is the consistency supposed to be like? (I usually grind the grain up in an electric spice grinder to make teff flour for pancakes.)
Hi, trying hard to steer clear from fructose syrup and you gave me an idea with the irish moss as a thickening agent. Do you have any recipes for pancake syrup using irish moss as a base? I know I could experiment but truly don't have the time. Thanks
Nikkie R You can try Agave. I usen all the time especially with my blueberry spelt pancakes which I kind of think it’s more of a fritter texture or at least when I do it lol. It’s natural but make sure it’s the only ingredient listed. It comes in light and dark and both are great I’ve used them both they’re not that different in taste it’s just thickness level I guess the darker the thicker and I mostly use the darker one. Some might say Agave, Blue Agave or Agave Nectar. They all come from the Agave plant. Key thing is to make sure it’s the only ingredient listed.
Hi I need some advice with meals because I am a sport person but I lose alot of weight eating plant based food and i need to get back my muscles and look fit again.
Marcus Small I am new in the plant based lifestyle and I can relate to your struggle lol So far I have turned to Spelt Grain because I’ve heard Dr. Sebi day that he had to stop eating it for a while because he was gaining weight so I was like AHA lol then of course there are natural healthy fat in Avocados and I heard chickpeas(also called garbanzo beans) so give those a try. For some extra spelt grain recipes you can also refer to and support RUclipsr>Ty’s Conscious Kitchen. That’s one of my go to sources for more recipe ideas. Hope this helps.
Not sure which ingredient you are referring to my brother. I listed all of the ingredients in the description under the video. If you are referring to the grade B maple syrup, it has been replaced with grade A dark. Not sure why they did this but I do not use it as often anymore. If this is not the ingredient, then please let me know which one. Peace and Love.
It’s been hard for me to find the grade B maple syrup where I’m from so I’ve never had the opportunity to use it. I’d given up on it but after watching this video I will try again and hopefully I can find it online. I could only hope they changed it to grade A dark to say that “dark” is a metaphor for grade B and they’re saying that it’s A for #1. I’ll try to find out through research and hopefully it’s accurate.
I've had a bag of teff in my cupboard and I just didn't know what to do with it, soooo glad I found this ❤️
Let us know how it turns out. :)
Camille Harris same here. So excited to find this.

TankaVizion2 Does this make it less grainy? I find it to be grainy even if I cook it longer and add more water.
I made this porridge, it was really good. This will definitely replace cornmeal porridge. Thank You :)

How long does it take for the teff porridge to cook?
can I use sea moss powder
We don't recommend the powder for this recipe. It does not mix well like the gel form. Trust me we have tried many times. 😁
Tried it Loved it, for me Delicious

TEFF is not the smallest grain in the world. We hv other grains smaller than teff... unless you were comparing to corn seeds.
You never said what it taste like
It's a seed not a grain
Really
Great,..BUT,..everything needs to be organic, or it has pesticides and chemicals !!!
SilkySlim Fact and Natural as well. Hybrid foods can be organic but they’re not natural. That’s key.
