the R36S is the winner in my opinion, better screen, better sound, you can replace the battery without open the whole console, with the new arkos firmware the roms are running much better......anyways, i'm having a lot of fun with my R36s and my RG35XX.
I ordered the R36S during the 11 11 sale at Ali Express.. Depending on where you are, the price might make a huge difference. The R36S was significantly cheaper by $30-40 Canadian. That's a lot at this price. There are ways to fix the buttons on the R36S but you need to be comfortable taking your device apart. There are videos that show you how.
I ordered from one of the 4 nearly identical DataFrog stores during the 11 11 sale as they were a few dollars cheaper than BOYHOM and stacked with the double 4 off 20 and the extra 8 off 50 coupons (with added filler). Unfortunately, the package was "rejected by sorting center" and then marked "return to seller" with no updates after 5 days. Chatting with seller they claimed "unshippable to United States due to battery". They argued with me when I said that doesn't make sense as I received over 30 items with LiIon batteries from Ali Express this year alone claiming I was lying and that they can't ship things with batteries to the US (which I then asked then why did you let me buy it if you claim this!). I said I received a Miyoo Mini Plus with a battery and they stopped responding. I then re-ordered from Boyhom on the last day of the sale and that looks like it now left China. Though I did need to buy more filler to stack all the coupons and ended up paying $3 net more. Unfortunately I need to wait 2 months until I can get a refund on the one they failed to ship due to Ali's stupid bot responses to wait maximum time even when tracking shows returned to seller.
People where asking about it so why not make them Asap. Did make them couple of years ago ending up with not many views. And most of them die off instantly in the views. So I figured back then people did not nog want see them.

d pad in xu10 is awesome i had some trouble in my r36s, i have both and xu 10 is the winner for me, feels less cheaper and the updates are coming, r36s is good too
As someone who loves the R36S but does not own the XU10... From everything I have seen, the XU10 does look and seem to feel to be superior... but it is also more expensive. The R36S's cheap price is what makes it such a stellar entry!
The screen comparison is interesting, looks more like different color temperature than an objective quality issue. Especially because the image in the XU10 also looks blurry but only in-game, so I'm guessing bad shader configuration? I doubt you can do fix it with their childproofed stock firmware, but there are at least 2 different cfw images now (unofficial AmberELEC and official JELOS) so I'm optimistic it can be sorted out. The better comfort, better stick placement (small hands gang!) and better specs convinced me to order that one. Thanks for the vid!
I actually own both. I got the XU10 on impulse, and that was my gateway into emulation handhelds, but then there was a big sale on the R36S a week or so before Black Friday, so I ended up snagging one, also on impulse. One thing not covered here is, the XU10 has a single microSD setup, and the R36S has the OS and ROMs on separate carts. I prefer the XU10 for just enjoying games, but the double-cart setup for the R36S makes it better for experimenting IMHO.
Is a tough choice for sure, but for me the R36S is $10 cheaper than the XU10 and at this price point 10 bucks makes a huge difference, so I think the R36S is just better, certainly a better value overall imo if you can get it cheaper.

Just got it last week from Ali express. I freaked love this $50 device. I did buy the wifi toggle $18 and USB adapter $12 to get to updated. Stereo sound not the best but again $50 from arcade to nes DS. 64G SD card. Only problem was, windows wouldn't properly copy and paste the files to a better SD card.
dpad and analog sticks and triggers XU 10> r36s screen r36>xu 10. I prefer xu10, all the buttons are jsut much better, the viewing angle doesnt matter for me since i play with it faced to me.
@@kobrapromotions between the shop the poor thing was used constantly. Barrel plug taped but everything else worked perfect. 350 bucks it better work. And everybody used it and it never faltered . I mean like it was in constant use by somebody, plugged in but that thing ran and ran and ran constant for 3 years.

Imo the xu10 looks funky, don't like that weird hole gap above the screen, the r36s looks much better, reminds me of the anbernic vertical handheld with analogs, but 1/3rd the price. Plus the r36s runs for only $37-45, not sure what the xu10 runs for.
Which runs games better, outta the box, no tinkering. I’ve seen other videos that claim then dpad on the xu10 is really good. I also just want sports games.
R36S is just a teeeeeny bit too slow for N64 and Dreamcast. It's amazing what you can get it for. It's an incredible bargain regardless of that. However I'm hoping 2024 is the year where there is a budget machine for this price that will make most N64 and Dreamcast titles viable. Just needs a very slightly better chipset and we're there. It will inevitably happen, just a matter of time.
Hey wicked ya didn't notice when comparing the vigilante 8 2nd offense gameplay the white handheld froze when the car got hit with a missile,did it crash then thus underperforming compared to the other unit?
Hahaha.. you did noticed it. 🤣 Was the first time it ever froze by the way. So did not want to complain. Can also be a problem with the Iso or the sd itself.
It comes down to the available emulators. The latest custom firmware (ArkOS) for the R36S offers less accurate, but better performing, emulators for N64 and Dreamcast, while also providing access to critical performance settings in PPSSPP (PSP). So until the XU10 gets some custom firmware, it will under-perform the R36S in retro 3D gaming. Everything else up through GBA, most PS1 and NDS run at full speed on both devices.
Regarding the displays, it looks like the XU10 just has a warmer color pallet setting by default, while the R36S has a cooler one. Neither seemed better or worse, but it's a definite preference of one or the other. Warmer colors are easier on the eyes, if you worried about eye strain.
Pitty a performance comparison was not made, a missed opportunity. Also would be good to see the os sd cards swapped between devices to see if they work

The screen quality might be more of a subjective thing. While the R36s might have more contrast the XU10 seems to have a less harsh brightness akin to wearing those glasses that reduce blue light that can result in eyestrain in prolonged sessions, additionally you can see more detail in the faces on the Vigilante 8 title screen. Brightness alone isn't always the winner.

@@WickedGamerCollector i used the cable it came with, and a poco x3 Charger, it took 8hours till 84%, next day i used the cable and Charger from tablet onn (Walmart tablet) i took 1/2 hrs from 54% to 90%

Mine came with a single 64GB MicroSD. So you can set it up that way, too.
I bought the xu10 and put Nintendo Switch satisfye grips on mine for that more comfortable feel

the r36s has a 1.5ghz rk3326 and 1g ddr3, the XU10 has a 1.6ghz rk3326s and 1g ddr4. Which is more powerful?

Only system i cant get to run on the R36S after update is NES, just crashes back to dashboard everytime
Maybe you need to config and set all of you emulators again ?
Mine did this when.trying to load them as .zip files just extract them to .nes and it should work

It can play up to psp, ps1, dc, some n64, most of those consoles utilize 2 analogs, it's just really awesome.

the 128gb and 256gb are just the SD card you getting with it. No difference in hard and software. Just the memory card you getting from them included.

Honestly, it depends. I have 2, and both have a different game library. Idk why. They are the same sd card size.
