  • Take a look at the full process creating a beautiful Tetra Pak and embossed print.
This print was the start of a series for the 2020 International Print Exchange.
    For this project I used:
    • Milk and Juice cartons
    • Scissors, ‘scoring’ tools.
    • Card
    • Toothbrush, scrim, tissue paper, tweezers
    • Inking slab
    • Akua inks
    • Somerset Satin paper
    • X-cut (die cutter) portable printing press.
This project should take as long as you want….but at least 1 day!
    00:08:57 - The design
    00:19:30 - Tools
    00:21:52 - Making the plate

This is amazing! I cannot believe this is the first time I've come across this process. I have a mixed media painting I've been thinking about and I've wanted to do cut out paper sandhill cranes. This will be perfect!

Very helpful video and beautiful work. Really appreciate the great instruction. Would have enjoyed more without the music, as it was distracting. But, wow, what wonderful instruction. Thanks so much for sharing this, I've been saving tetrapak to give this a try. Your video really helped explain things. Thank you!

Thanks for the feedback. I'm glad you found it useful. It's quite a long video, with lots of different parts to it, so well done for sticking with it! 🙂 There was a lot to work out and I wanted to show as much of the process as possible. I'm glad it was interesting to you. Thanks

Thanks. Yes it's quite an in-depth demonstration of the whole process. Would you have left more ink on the surface of the plate instead?

I think I missed it.... Did you shellac the plates..?? Nice tutorial, just leave out the music next time. 😉

Ha ha. The music hasn't gone down well. :-)
No I don't shellac. You can, but I'm not convinced the extend the life of the plate very much. Just think of these as quite ephemeral. How many prints do you want? I've got an edition of about 30-35 from a tetra pak in the past.

Hi Tricia, just watching this video just now.... enjoying it so much, as, although I'm a working artists I've never used Tetra packs for printing before. *Can you tell me what make the little knife is with the swivel blade? That looks so handy! Thanks for your patience in making the vid - it's very informative! :O)

Sorry had to have a search around for the knife packet. Its by Jakar and its called a precision swivel knife. artdiscount.co.uk/products/jakar-precision-craft-swivel-knife?variant=45370307465¤cy=GBP&gclid=CjwKCAiA9bmABhBbEiwASb35V-BQNm-v9qyFzFAigP8oeSeVihTdFcUS-qdAc9rydAZOqhY5MfYFrBoCBr0QAvD_BwE
      Hope this helps.

    • @artwithtricia
      @artwithtricia  3 года назад

Sure, its an Xcut xpress, which is one of those little paper cutting machines. www.therange.co.uk/arts-and-crafts/die-cutting/machines/xcut-xpress-die-cutting-machine/#717332
If you're on facebook there is a group called craft press printing.

ps trying to place your accent! I'm originally from the North West of England (now in Scotland) and yours sometimes sounds N.West... but it sometimes has a west country twang? :O) mind you, I'm a bit rubbish with accents!! ha ha

I'm originally from the Midlands (Birmingham way), but now I live on the South Coast, so a bit of a mixture, here and there! :-)
