  • Catching heavy cover largemouth bass requres the right equipment and lures. Living and fishing primarily in the North country, we often encounter lakes with dense weeds, especially after the invasion of Zebra mussels. These heavy cover weeds can grow as deep as 18 to 22 feet, making largemouth fishing challenging. However, a few largemouth bass rigs excel in these conditions, and in this video, we explore them in detail.

I will need to give this a try on my lake. It has weeds but not to the level that you talked about. Nevertheless, the weeds do indeed make a nuisance of themselves on certain lures

have you experimented with different length wire? seems like i see 4-5 inches of wire on most tokyo rigs.

Probably could have expanded a bit and talked about rod power for each presentation and reel size and speed.

I know I’m not a Lindner, but I use a 7-7’6” rod med-heavy to heavy rod depending on the cover. 20lb floro in light cover, 50lb braid in thick weeds. Like he said it’s about confidence, I live in the north (Michigan) and I don’t throw a Tokyo rig much. Jigs and Texas rigs work for me!

How necessary is the stop on the line for punch rigs?

Imo very neccessary. That way the bait goest straight up and down thru the grass. Not getting caught up.
