  • I've recently taken up mountain biking and was super excited to figure out a way to hit the trails and enjoy a cruise on the Pan America at the same time. After scouring the internet for ways to mount a bicycle to a motorcycle, I thought, "Well, I'll just do it myself, haha!" It turned out way better than I expected. Let me know what you think!

    i think I would have been inclined to put the bike rack on the left side both to keep distance from the exhaust and because since we drive on the right side of the road our right turns have a tighter radius than our left turns. Super cool idea though. I've long wanted to do the same thing and so your accomplishment is great inspiration.

      Thanks! Yeah I thought about the left side but the rack isn’t as far out as the right and it would’ve made the bike really close to me. But I may tinker with it and figure out something to do on the left side. Glad It could be of some inspiration!

    This is awesome. I don't own a car so this works out great because I like to mountain bike and I can make this for my 650 Kawasaki. Thanks mate 👍

    Neat rack . It's best feature is load and unload in seconds. Awesome pan am.
    I have a 2x2 cycles rack welded to my indian ftr 1200 luggage rack . Have done some moto camping, and for me longer trips 1-200 miles with the MTB. Xl evil wreckoning, XXl nukeproof scout, XXl Santa Cruz hightower lt and more. All around 30 lbs.

      That FTR looks like a sweet rig! I’m disappointed in my 2x2, it doesn’t fit Fox 15x110 forks very well, nor flat pedals. But it sure is an easy bolt on solution!

      @@JeffKendallWeed modifying is kind of a mountain bikers thing. Cheers

      Thanks! Yeah I was considering the 2x2. I might even try making something similar to it for rear mounting. Awesome that you’re able to carry a bike on an FTR! Indian makes some great bikes and I’m hoping they make a Pan Am competitor in the future.

      @@cruisingwithkyle I'd take a pan am! Prior to that adventure bike, the only Harley I was comfortable with was the vrod

    Interesting idea! I hope it works well for you! I went with a 2x2 and have published about a half dozen videos with moto camping/MTB trips with it. I’m a bit too aggressive on the motorcycle to use your style of rack, but it’s cool to see the concept! If I build up a more road oriented motorcycle, I’ll keep the side- mount style in mind! As much as I like my 890r as a one and done dual sport/touring/adv solution, something lower to the ground, smoother, and quieter would be nice for long hauls. Keep it up!!!

      Thanks I appreciate it!! I rode bmx for over a decade and new the whole MTB thing but I’m kinda obsessed now haha. Can’t wait to go on some camping/ MTB trips with the motorcycle! Definitely going to deep dive your channel, your videos looks awesome!

    Always wanted to put my bike on my bike. You lunatic you actually did it.
    The drag would certainly make it impossible to get up to speed on my 150.

    It looks cool and very smart using what you know.
    I know you've already built it but maybe for v2 you figure out how much higher the back bar needs to sit to have the bottom of the wheels sit level. The top tube would be angled upwards like this / instead of level like this --. The other idea I had was make sure the connections are tight then drill the holes that mount it to the bike.
    Now time to find some bag metal bag mounts for my MT-07 and figure out how to do this on my bike.

      @cruisingwithkyle  3 месяца назад +1

      Thanks! Yeah for the next iteration I’m going to raise the back bar and level out the bike. I took it on about an hour ride this weekend with the bike and it help up great at highway speeds just need to make those tweaks and it’ll be good. That would awesome to see something like this on an MT-07!

      I’d be nervous to lane split with a bike on haha. They must’ve had them mounted on the rear.

    You did a great job. Good on ya!! Just one word of caution. Some years back a couple of magazines ran articles stating truck owners with tailgate racks were having trouble with warped rims. All in question had carbon fiber rims and the exhaust fumes had damaged them to the point of being unusable. When they tried the manufacturers for warranty help the OEM’s shot down their request quickly. Possibly you could switch the rack to the other side? Good build though, awesome DIY creativity.

      @cruisingwithkyle  3 месяца назад +1

      Wow I didn’t know about that, thanks for letting me know. I only mounted it to the exhaust side because the luggage rack was further out but I’ll definitely look into trying something on the other side. Thanks!
