Timmy pointing out Armie being 6'5" and saying you just want to climb him might be my favorite part of any interview I've seen about this film and I've seen a lot.

Love the story of Mafalda! It's the first time someone asks about her and it was fun to get to hear of the casting of minor characters. Can't wait to see her in Suspiria now :D

I'm glad this movie got made by Luce as it's a very beautifully acted by both Timothee, Armie,Michael and the rest of the cast. Timmy's recalling his rehearsal making out scene and Armie's dancing scene is a joy. Good Q&A.

Yes... Luca the Genius knew it would take more than acting to bring Oliver and Elio to life.. He knew it would take time and that time have a way of showing us a side of us that we never knew existed... Do you know why we love this movie so much? Why is has hit us so hard.. This is not our first love story of heart break.. So please tell me why you think we love Oliver and Elio love story 💕 💕

Timothee's been jetting all over the place promoting the movie and we all know that the air on planes is very dry. At each of his destinations, he's been doing interviews and panel discussions and making acceptance speeches; it's no wonder he needs to rehydrate.

Gregory Ellwood's questions make this interview one of *THE BEST* I've seen, thanks! Loved hearing Luca's story on Mafalda, Timmy's version of the "steamy" first rehearsal 😍 and Armie's director credit for the monument scene. I'd love a series of short films revealing more on each character and their thoughts, so Anchise & Mafalda, Marzia & Chiara, the Perlmans and of course Oliver! ❤️

  • @revesmouvants

i really appreciated hearing the questions/answers about actual *filmmaking*. i mean, yes, people online are thirsty to hear stories from/about the (admittedly gorgeous) actors who brought these characters to life, but it’s all luca and his vision, supported by the cast and crew, along with james ivory, and it seemed that the audience here *got* that!
edited to add: i always like hearing the story of the “monument” scene. it seems crazy that armie hammer was the one who suggested it be done in one take, but there you go..good on him! it was absolutely the right call! but getting the timing right and the *blocking*... and to think it was done at such short notice... and it’s perfect! it’s THE pivotal scene, and it’s utterly brilliant, which is a testament to the talent and skill of everyone involved!

I believe all characters involve in the story are all significant, Mafalda is one of those. This is not only love story between two young people but a family story, so who ever lives in the house share the part of the film. I love each character of the book and the actors who play in the film version. They are all great. Timothy and Michael are so exceptional in their roles.

"...not sure how to express your first love, particularly with Oliver/Armie 6'5" you just wanted to crawl all over..." now this almost sounds like Timmy deliberately in a subtle way blurred the line between fiction and reality there. The "slash Armie" part really wasn't necessary in the statement there. Hmmm, Timmy.

Some people can read people, and some people can't. Most people can't. They fall for the narrative put in front on them. And then when cracks are showing they still ignore them cuz they are emotionally unintelligent. I say good for him though cuz i wouldn't want him talking any other way. It gives me life. And hope.

luca, on elio having a fly buzzing around him even in winter (because it was filmed in summer and flies were *everywhere*): “i like the idea that this is the last fly of the summer”. 😆❤️
as an artist, you have a vision, and when unexpected or uncontrollable things happen, it’s funny/cool how you just can just sit back, ponder upon it, and say, “huh... that actually makes it more meaningful”, and integrate that “imperfection” into the narrative. i think of marcel duchamp’s masterpiece, “the bride stripped bare by her bachelors, even”/“la mariée mise à nu par ses célibataires, même”. during transport, the glass panels were broken, but the crazed glass ended up becoming an integral part of the work and now people can’t imagine it any other way!

Can anybody explain to me what are those scenes in like negative warmth-like filter playing while their both on bed before the train scene?? Are those Elio’s memories while their in their trip or are those just dreams??

    • @wardf727
      @wardf727 6 лет назад +9

David John I think Luca said it was a scene from the book that they weren’t going to use (where they climb on the monument) and so instead it is supposed to be Elio dreaming about being with Oliver forever.

I know I'm a year late commenting on all these videos of Tim. But, what the hell. I've seen him before in movie trailers, but never really paid much attention to him-- although I KNEW he's a BEAUTIFUL/Good looking guy. Until, I seen that movie CMBYN and went, Wow! I really like this boy. He's some good eye-candy🍬🍭 a excellent actor and very talented. Even his rapping and Stage presence performing is damn good👍.
    👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏
Anyway, if I was sitting in the front row in that audience, I'll walk up there.... take Timothee's water bottle and drink from it (lips fully on it, touching where his mouth was/lick😛 around the open) at least once or twice, and save the bottle🤗!
