After 45 years, the most acclaimed, revered horror franchise in film history reaches its epic, terrifying conclusion as Laurie Strode faces off for the last time against the embodiment of evil, Michael Myers, in a final confrontation unlike any captured on-screen before, one where only one of them will survive.
When the franchise relaunched in 2018, Halloween shattered box office records, becoming the franchise’s highest-grossing chapter and set a new record for the biggest opening weekend for a horror film starring a woman. In 2021, Halloween Kills earned the biggest opening weekend for any horror film in the pandemic era and simultaneously set a new record for a non-live event premiere streaming on Peacock.
As Halloween Ends marks the last chapter of the David Gordon Green trilogy, so it ushers the essential return of original director and composer John Carpenter to score the iconically hair-raising soundtrack alongside Cody Carpenter and Daniel Davies. Together they once again bring the celebrated music score to the horror movie series, one of the most distinctive aspects of the franchise to date.
Similarly to the last two soundtracks, Halloween Ends was recorded in its entirety at John Carpenter’s home studio and Daniel’s studio. “The three of us compose, perform, and record all the music, and everything is mixed by Daniel together with John Spiker” says John Carpenter.
The unmistakable mix of software synths, vintage analogue equipment, and live instrumentation is utilized once again to provide the signature sound of Halloween. However, rumors have it that Halloween Ends is going to be somewhat different from the previous two films in the trilogy. With that comes an expanded soundtrack, one that matches the tone of a tangible rise in stakes and conveys the climatic feel of the film. The soundtrack of the third installment broadens old themes whilst creating new ones in an effort to bring renewed life to one of the most epic horror scores ever written. Carpenter elaborates, “The main themes have all been passed down from the original Halloween. We have refined them and created new themes for new characters.”
The soundtrack was tracked scene by scene but the album itself plays like a standalone piece of music. The general atmosphere is one of dread yet the record includes some groove laden moments reminiscent of Escape From New York or some of Carpenter’s other more dance-able scores. Exquisite and delicate ambient pieces weave their way between some of the score’s more arresting moments and yet maintain a subtle pop sensibility. The overall achievement showcases three master musicians, one of whom invented the entire horror-synth genre, crafting an evocative, playful and deeply listenable score that honors a legacy and expands on the decades of work that have been leading to this triumphant climax.
Carpenter is known for directing the original 1978 Halloween, as well as other horror classics like The Thing, The Fog, Escape From New York, Christine, Big Trouble in Little China, and They Live. However John Carpenter is not only a cult movie-maker, he’s also a pioneering electronic composer. Halloween Ends is the soundtrack of the final battle against evil. Watch your back this Halloween, Michael may be near you.

@@terrencewalker1382 yeah I thought so too. It felt like a big funeral to this horror icon.
For me, this music says, "Evil can never be destroyed... but those who serve it inevitably die." And when they do, it is unimaginably satisfying.
Saw the movie last night. The scene this track is scoring… Haven’t been able to get it out of my head. So poignant & haunting 🙌

Seeing the movie tomorrow, really excited so see the scene for this score. It definitely seems like it belongs to the end of the movie, as a form of conclusion.

@@benoakman3069 will do!
@@benoakman3069 Just watched the movie and I gotta admit this scene was pretty good but considering the entire movie, I was really disappointed. Advertising this as the final showdown of Michael and Laurie is just a scam, they had like 10 minutes of screen time together. And spending almost the entire movie developing a character, just to throw him away in the end seemed pretty weird as well. And some parts of the plot and also the pacing made no sense at all. Just like in Halloween Kills the best parts of the movie were the soundtrack (as always the best part) and the creative kills. I’m a huge fan of the original Halloween movies and Halloween 2018, but these last two really weren’t my type. But that’s just my opinion. I’m happy for everyone that enjoyed it!
4.5/10 at max for me.
John Carpenter always has something new up his sleeve, And this is probably one of the best since the original 1978 movie
okay
“Michaels Legend” is to me the best thing he’s done with the “from the fire “ but I think that was Cody.
That’s why he will always be a genius in my book.
Evil doesn't die, it changes a shape.

It is so amazing seeing John and his team still so dedicated to this franchise John and Cody are killing this
Yes, I love this trio!
Carpenter is dedicated to the almighty dollar...not the franchise
@@dr.loomis4221 John isn't beholden to the almighty dollar either. But the fact they managed to inspire him to join back up to redo some of the music for this franchise that he started, was amazing.
Already something feels different about this third film, and this piece of the score just adds to that. I love how the trailers for the movie have been very limited in what they're showing compared to the last trailers. The atmosphere feels a little different too. And I mean that as a good thing! I'm very optimistic in saying this final film will be the best of this trilogy. Also, Halloween films don't need massive trailers to get people in the seats. It's freakin' Michael Myers. People will be there!
no halloween
no michael myers
After Kills there is only way up.
As do I have a Michael Myers obsession. This movie plot and all. SUCKED ! Just awful.
This movie is weird and lacking Myers, this is jason goes to hell of this franchise
"This town needs to heal..."
It wasn't until the procession scene that it all clicked into place. That David Gordon Green's trilogy was a masterpiece.
2018: How Myers and his actions have effected Laurie as a survivor and the effects of her fear and trauma ripple through her family.
Kills: How Myers and his actions have effected the rest of Haddonfield's survivors and how the effects of fear and trauma ripple throughout the community.
Ends: How Myers, his actions and the actions of the town have effected the next generation and putting a stop to continuous cycle of generational trauma.
I love how the underlying theme seems to be fear and trauma, and when left unchecked can lead to something much worst than the original tramatic event as well as bad decisions.
Laurie lost her family and lived alone in misery, the town forced a mentally ill man to kill himself and inspired senseless and vicious murders within the community, and Corey ended up becoming a new vessel for evil.
I cannot get over how David Gordon Green did a remarkable job of tying these movies together as well as doing a parallel-like homage to the first three movies as well as Carpenter's other works.
78/18 : The Night HE came home
2/Kills: Later that same night/Laurie sidelined at the hospital for the majority of the movie
Season of the Witch/Ends: Not about Michael and the transference of evil (through masks?)
Indeed man…
This trilogy was really something.
To be honest this movie was the first time I was intimidated and terrified of Michael. When he killed the cop and his theme kicked in I felt the evil in him and in his dark eyes and that froze me in fear.
@@chriscage669 thats some wacky ass shit lmao. How are you scared of a man who got screamed at by a teenager to get up. And days later to get beaten up by him. Bro got defeated by a dam grandma in 3 minutes-
Haha, no. It's awful
Nicely put.
So glad to run into someone else who gets it.
This film is going to become a masterpiece in the series, and become beloved like Halloween 3 did. Folks aren’t seeing it right now, but when all are watched together it fits together so perfectly.
As Dr. Loomis said Michael is so evil that Hell doesn't even want him.
This is the best song of the whole soundtrack
This is my favorite soundtrack of the film
A sign of a good composer is when they can create a score piece. That can stand apart from the thing it's supposed to be paired with. And still be good.

Ah, the perfect music to listen to during this autumn like weather.
The best goodbye/finale soundtrack that I've ever heard.
John carpenter has done it again.
It's not a coincidence that all originality and experimentation left the music of this series and did not return until John Carpenter did. The last 2 soundtracks were awesome and added some iconic new music, The Shape Hunts Allyson and Unkillable are two of my favorites. Looking forward to listing to this full soundtrack almost as much as watching the movie.
Yes! The Shape Hunts Allyson! I love that one! Simple,Classic Carpenter yet Modern. Chilling composition
Um, Alan Howarth did a pretty damn good job with his scores for 4, 5, and the Producer's Cut of 6. There's some great tracks for those films regardless of how you feel about the films by themselves.
Omg yes! The Shape hunts Allyson, rampage, hallway madness, payback, unkillable, Michaels Legend, and now the procession .
All of them are bangers
@@alucard624 That's fair I am not saying some of the scores haven't been good over the years but I just feel carpenter is next level and keeps pushing the envelope while still maintaining a consistent theme and tone. I dunno, I just love his music!
@@andrewimler2065 There are some awesome remixes of the shape hunts Allyson out there! Unbending puppets synth wave version and Joseph Versleys metal cover are two of my favourite remixes of it :)
Masterful. Suspense, intensity and complete chills from the thrills I get hearing this. I couldn’t imagine anyone other than John Carpenter creating such incredible music for an iconic slasher like The Shape. No one can capture the essence of Halloween like Carpenter can. He is Halloween 🎃 the heart and soul of it lies in his music. It just sets the mood and atmosphere….
Agreed he made the basis for it and the standard cannot be matched unless he is the one composing or writing it
ALAN HOWARTH MAKES AMAZING SCORES TOO HE ALSO CAPTURES THE ESSENCE OF HALLOWEEN
@@phantomcollector1976 Alan Howarth was ok, it’s just that he really didn’t create anything new. He used the same type of theme for 4-6, then he just added so more synth over it. But John creates his own tracks for each different scene.
@@averageSENo, he wasn't ok, he was GREAT.
This is unlike any other Halloween music we’ve seen. Truly one of the best
This trilogy really was something…
This film is good and the score in this is something I will not forget.
This score and and Michaels final ride was nothing more but emotional to me.
In this film he won my heart, proving even at his oldest age he would still be able to kill Laurie in even in his dying breath.
It’s basically Halloween triumphant score but it’s sad and emotional because Michael will not triumph this time.
This scene where he’s been carried out felt like a big funeral and a goodbye moment for us.
This Trilogy made me love this depiction of Michael a lot more and he became one of my top favorite killers along side with Jason.
Michael didn’t won his spot as my favorites… he earned it.
Farewell Michael Myers…
I agree, I cried so hard after seeing that scene….and everytime I say it to someone I just break down immediately, to this day im still crying over it- it hurts so much…..💔
@@rebirthrxven4972 Michael came a long way buddy… he lost the fight but he won the war by making Haddonfield live in Fear.
Those who were traumatized during those events will not recover cuz The Shape will alway haunt them in their memories.
Indeed... The 2018 trilogy is the best timeline yet. Although, I can still imagine it of Michael killing Laurie in this timeline and surviving once again.
So here's the real question, why all the hate from the so called true fans? There's absolutely nothing wrong with going in another direction in a sequel or trilogy. I agree. Haddonfield will always be in fear even in 100 years from now. I hope that don't remake. No point, no need and nobody can replace the original scream queen and final girl JLC. Thanks for 45 years of terror Michael. Happy Halloween 🎃
Am I crazy being sad about michael myers death in the movie
I’m gonna come right out and say it. Halloween Ends is SEVERELY underrated. It’s a masterpiece through and through
couldn't agree more. it's a much deeper and bigger story than people were expecting, but i hate how that's seen as a bad thing cause it wasn't just Michael VS Laurie the whole way through. as you said, a masterpiece.
@@RequiemforCinemahe marketing is what made the movie flop with fans, it was advertised as an laurie vs michael film in every poster and trailer. People didn’t get what they were expecting and judged it unfairly.
