I just did this, pain in the ass, which is mostly harbor freights fault with the short wires to the solenoid. I don’t really like where mine is mounted but hopefully it will last for a couple years. Added fluid film on the connects to keep it from corroding.
I took a look at the KFI website. How did you choose the winch Mount bracket? KFI site doesn't list badlands winches. I'm trying to install a Badlands 2500 on my '12 Honda Rancher TRX420FM.
I didn’t want to spice the factory wires. I figure that if I messed something up, all I would have to do is to disconnect the harness and no harm was done to the ATV.
Why would you buy the harness and still use junk scotch locks? If you would have bought the correct terminals for the the switch on the winch controller it would have plugged right into the new harness. Stay away from scotch locks, that junk will leave you stuck in the woods.

Would not recommend a Badland 2500 . None of the holes lined up and the instructions even tell you that you have to drill holes
