I hate cpu teammates so much they will help double team someone when you don’t even need help causing you to lose grades cause they switch over you to another man then they so slow getting back on defense the will not help coming off picks and for the love of god it’s like when they run into a pick they canning get back to there man at all it’s so crazy
omg I HATE that SO much in mycareer!!! It switches who they want u to guard randomly and u have no time to get over there to guard the new guy they just decided u should be guarding...and u get a defensive breakdown deduction on ur teammate grade
2K With The Popboy I swear to god I hate that I’ll be guarding one dude the whole time up the court then it switches damn cpu helps out for no reason leaving there man wide open they get stuck on a pick for damn near a few seconds never can slide through defense but when the cpu play defense on me they slide there feet so smooth and get off picks so quickly 2k really need to fix that
It's funny they just did patch 3 and one of the main things on the patch notes was about improved screen setting movement. I'm like, okay but what we really need is improved DEFENSIVE screen movement for the user teammates. The ways they try to make the game difficult make no sense half the time. I mean even on HOF, the CPU players shouldn't be THAT much better at getting thru/around screens smh
you should try and raise your defensive awareness slider to about 60 - 65
The first few weeks I played this game, I was screaming at the AI like a frustrated and annoyed coach. "Why TF would you do ?"

This game is absolute garbage out of the box. Even on pro, cpu hits a ridiculous amount of shots, and ai teammates play like morons.
You should never have to adjust sliders to have a playable game. You should never have to adjust AI settings to have a fair simulation of a sport. I’ve played every single year of 2K since Dreamcast and this is the worst game of basketball they’ve produced.
For me, this is the worst basketball game I’ve played in maybe 5 or 6 years, since one of the NBA Live games. How can the AI keep getting worse?
It is pretty remarkable how they can go backwards in some ways. Ur right I wish it were better just on default. The shooting is pretty brutal this yr...especially perimeter shots. And I'm not even talking about the shot meter. On default the cpu makes too many and we miss too many. That's exactly what I'm working on with the sliders rn!

@@ThePopboy i simply raised my shooting sliders to around 60 - 65, still miss shots but make the ones im supposed to make, especially with certified shooters who get open... and i turn the shot meter off and rely on timing... so much fun and strategic..

i destroyed the cpu on hall of fame on 20 so much i had to download the beyond hof sliders, now on 2k21 I'm getting beat by 30 on all star 🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣
Lol yep. The diff levels were too easy last year...so in typical 2K fashion, they over-corrected the problem. Lol they overdid it in the OTHER direction, and now HOF is a stupid hard. I can't believe how hard it is to make perimeter shots on HOF. Like even in MyTeam with a 96ovr Lillard smh
@@ThePopboy facts, i think I've made 2 shots since the game has been out, I like how aggressive the computer plays tho. I went up against MVP D.Rose and the '11 Bulls. It really felt like I was going up against D.Rose which I love. Also had a game against the Indiana Pacers where Maclon, Victor. and TJ all scored double digit points on 5 minute quarters, that doesn't happen on any previous 2K , they just need to tweak user shooting a little bit.
@@ThePopboy this is why I play on superstar and adjust minor sliders.. to make it more authentic, where I can be hot one game or quarter, then my team can go cold the next game .. more authentic.. I like that
I think it's the every now and then AI will adjust to how you play and start adjusting their offense and defense to how you been playing which is a good idea for competitive play, they really focused more on the player being able to have competitive games with another player or players that was their main focus outside myplayer or myteam

The frustrating thing is, these issues exist at least since nba2k12, which I play at the moment. The AI teammates leave CPU opponents wide open with 5 ft of space around them and doing all sort of shit you can't control, they do not rebound nor do they box out. The CPU is able to blow right past you whenever it wants, because your human reaction time cannot match the 0.0001 s that the computer has. And even when you jump to contest the shot and you are spot on, your jump is still delayed and good players make the shot almost every time. The CPU opponents do not make these mistakes, so why are my teammates play like this? Also, I have the feeling that the game decides, when your opponents makes or misses a basket, when you commit a turnover by stepping on the line or when they steal the ball. The game decides, which games you are supposed to lose and which ones you win, it is beyond frustrating. The only thing we all want is a fair contest between us and the computer, but game developpers will probably never find a way to accomplish that I guess.
Oh man I can't even tell u how much I feel ur pain!! The worst is when u actually, finally get a steal and the game finds some stupid ass way to make u give it right back almost immediately🤬🤬 Do u play with custom sliders tho? Or do u mainly play my career and my team where they don't have them?
@@ThePopboy oh yeah, the game makes you pay for playing good defense, a blocked shot often results in an easy basket and great players do not give a shit about contested shots. At the end of the shotclock when you dare to jump, your player automatically jumps into the offensive player, foul, freethrows, I call that a bail out.

Yes sir! I'm already hammering away!! I can't say with 100% certainty when they'll be out, but the testing is going faster than I expected. They're coming along nicely, so it might even be next week! I'm just tryna make them a lot better than the 2K defaults and then we'll do more update videos after that to really, really perfect them!👍👍

I always play on HOF. But I play on All star diff. this year because playing in HOF sucks, I can't even shoot layups and threes are complete brick.

raise shooting slider to about 60-65, also turn off shot meter... get a slight boost on perfect timed shots... get better shots with folks who especially have badges
What difficulty have you been playing on Pop?
I always start off right in the middle at all star. It allows me to get a feel for testing and determining how hard/easy the other levels should be. I'll work my way up to superstar and then HOF...and then that's how I test to create my "Beyond HOF" set!🔥🔥

PREACH!! I've NEVER understood this??? It should be 1 of the things u unlock when u hit a certain ovr. I don't get why it's not. I mean, we can unlock play-calling, rotation and roster decisions...but God forbid we touch the defensive settings smh
This! Western conf finals, trying to win championship to get gym rat badge and it’s absolutely impossible. CPU vs User Sliders don’t work either, has zero affect. I hate this game
My issue is rn I’m in a playoff series against the nuggets and I’m locking down Jokic. The issue is when it comes to the 4th quarter, even though Jokic is 6-19 and I have 9 blocks and 23 rebounds, my teammate guarding the PG decides to double team, and Jokic passes outside and we lose almost every possession. I’m not sure how to prevent that since it happens automatically

I would like to know this too. I am not sure how it is possible for technology to go backwards to revert. As technology advances it is supposed to get better or increase. With 2K21 every year it appears that the artificial intelligence goes backwards. I just played a game where all 4 of my teammates were within 3' of me after breaking the defender's ankle. In that same game Jimmy Butler was on the far side of the court I was pressed up against the person I was defending. Jimmy Butler decided to pick up my guy from across the entire court he sprinted over to pick up my guy I was making contact with. Hey left his person wide open in the corner of course he got the bal and made the open 3. And I got a bad teammate grade for that possession because it said defensive breakdown. Or then there's times where I break the players ankles and I go to shoot and pressing the square button or I'm using the right joystick and nothing happens for several seconds there's a long hesitation where I continued to dribble the Baul to 3 dribbles before finally deciding to shoot it. In that same game I broke a defender's ankle the defender was on the ground I allowed one dribble as I usually do and then I began my shooting motion. And in one matrix style move my defender jumped and sprinted from laying down on the floor 2 in my face to get a good shot contest. If anybody actually believes this is coincidental accidental than they are not very bright. This is intentional by 2K21 in order to try to make the game a competitive. How ever it doesn't make the game competitive it just pisses off the community to the point where a vast number of the community members are calling for a boycott of this game for a one year. In order to hurt the developer financially in hopes that they will make these much needed changes that have been asked for for multiple years. Instead of making changes or spending money on more development team to K seems more worried about giving money to NBA players. 2K seems more concerned about playing the game themselves and being on Twitter making promises that never come to fruition. In addition the Kobe Bryant edition was supposed to give us 100000 VC. The majority of us still do not have the 100000 VC that we paid the additional $40 for. It is time to start boycotting to K they do not have their players base or their communities best interests at heart their doing what they want and wasting our money basically stealing from us. I'm done giving money to take 2 interactive
They literally take vc from you on turnovers or blocked shots which is also controlled by 2k 🤦🏿♂️ they robbing us, I actually pay for vc so that sh’t be blowing me 😡🤬

Maybe 1 day they'll be good enough at this game making thing that they can make it so the CPU gets LEGITIMATELY harder as u move up in diff lol they shouldn't make it harder by making ur teammates dumber🤣🤦♂️ It's one of my big challenges with the sliders every year: making the challenge appropriate and the difficulty balanced on every level. It's a chore for sure. Strangely I enjoy it...but at a certain point, I just wanna get it done!! The 1st slider sets r getting close btw!!🔥

@@ThePopboy its weird but i fixed the open 3 shots by using 2-3(not 3-2) zone defense and I play on superstar, for some reason a 3-2 is useless this year against teams with 3 pt threats

lol yep...their desire to rotate/run off the face of the earth is so deep that it overrides the help D slider. The only thing that gets thru to them some r the points of emphasis I mentioned in the video. I agree it's amazing they haven't corrected this. Idk why they program the other defenders to be so obsessed with covering the guy u leave open when doubling. I mean, a lotta times, u double off somebody for a reason (like they can't shoot). It doesn't work that way irl...most of the time when they double, they just leave the doubling guy's man open. Maybe they'll sag a little bit, but they certainly won't go running off the face of the earth like in 2K!!

My man, you're back! I will be waiting for your realistic sliders for MyGM. Especially game sliders, I tried to do your 2k20 settings but gameplay sucks like my players are running in mud and can't shoot a thing.
I'm here for ya!! I'm hammering away at em as we speak! So u tried the 2K20 sliders in 21 and that's what u got huh? Yeah I wish they were more transferable from one version to the next...at least maybe to some degree. It sucks that it's like starting all over again. But at the same time, I actually enjoy it in a very strange way🤣🤣

Yeah I agree for sure. When I'm making my sliders, I try so hard to counteract that. I focus so much on getting a LEGITIMATE challenge from the AI opponent. They look at the sliders kinda backwards imo, and that's part of the problem. U can tell by looking at their default sets. It shouldn't be making the game harder by making ur teammates dumber lol
It's 2k22 now and the game is even worse. I wish I could speak to Mike Wang and tell him he needs to retire and maybe start driving for door dash bc he sucks as a gameplay director. Maybe I'm just too old to play 2k but why when my teammate shoot the ball even if I'm not trying to go for a rebound my my player is made to become clued to some other dudes back? Or if u watch really close, if you're standing at the top of the key your defender is somewhere towards the middle. If u get the ball he's there almost with teleportation speed. Or no matter which way u run or the badges u have u can never outrun the guy defending u. Or why your own team is still dumb af?! Why will they come to double team you when u have 1 point but AD has 30? Has anyone else noticed that the AI is still stupid af as well? The coach in the game will take u out and your team is up by 2 points with 1 min left. We are barely winning and the next thing u know we lost. 2k doesn't take the time to make an adaptive AI that most games have now. No matter what team u go to, no matter the coach....ur my player will still be used the same way....no matter what. Someone plz help me to break this 2k curse. The game is straight trash.
Man I'm standing up and clapping for u and this comment. I couldn't agree more. It's a lot of the reasons that my career isn't my favorite mode anymore. I still like it, and it still has huge potential. But 2K doesn't execute it well. Once u play my league/my NBA with good sliders and u get used to that, it's hard to go back to my career and play on 2K's crappy default sliders. And all the stuff u can have control over and make better in that mode that u don't have any control over in my career. Like a lotta the stuff u mentioned...and it would be pretty easy for them to help a lot of it. For starters, just give us access to some of the coaching stuff like the defensive settings in my career!! It could be something u unlock when u hit a certain overall. Anyway yeah I hear u more than I can express. I'm all about striving to make the game the best it can be...but we just don't get that many tools to do that in my career. I try to just take it for what it is and enjoy it. But there's only so much BS a man can take
2K21 Is just garbage. I recommend everybody that has purchased this game called the federal trade commission and lodges a formal complaint. AI has actually gotten worse they've promised they were going to fix it. Contact in the federal trade commission will only take a couple of minutes. But those of us who have continually purchased from 2K and do not get what we have purchased should no longer accept that these big companies that are taking billions of dollars from us or not being held accountable. Contacting the FTC only takes a matter of minutes and the more people that complain the batter. After all how many of us about the mamba forever addition and not gotten the 100000 VC still to this day? It's time we hold these giant Box companies making billions of dollars responsible for the money we pay them
It might be cuz I'm an optimist at heart...but I always view it from the standpoint of making the best of it. Obviously cuz that's what my channel is. I do agree with u tho. They should be more accountable and I wish EA would improve Live to give them some real competition and push them to improve their product. I didn't know some ppl have STILL not received their 100K VC bonus tho. That's just flat out stealing.

yeah u'd think it would apply to both teams but it don't. I'm STILL running into this in 2K22. I'm about to test some different settings with the help defense slider (under coach settings) to see if any help. I'll for sure make a vid on it if I find anything to help with this in 22!!

When you’re driving on fast break in transition.. your turbo isn’t even being activated until you pass the three point line.. you’re just jogging to the goal letting all the defenders catch up to you. (Just pointing out a few other things I notice on this game)

I think it has something to do with coaching sliders. Help defense needs to be turned down to 0.
It's hilarious that u comment this at this moment cuz I'm just finishing the 1st help D video and that's actually one of the things in there!! I'm breaking it up by different gameplans...u'll see what I mean. In terms of this, tho, sadly it's not that simple. I mean, ur correct in the sense that having the help D coaching slider at zero leads to guys leaving their man less...but even with it down at zero, having that cluster of defenders still triggers the types of things u see in the video. If u wanna see it, just put it at zero and then go do a buncha double teams. Unfortunately, it'll continue to happen smh. That's why we gotta follow the instructions in this video and be careful when doubling. When it comes down to it, the game just seems to be programmed to think that when a double happens, it MUST cover the guy we left open NO MATTER WHAT and in ALL scenarios. In reality, that's only a smart thing to do in certain situations. But the game can't tell the difference. That's why we see them rotating and leaving the guy right next to the basket WIDE open...in order to go cover a guy who's 30ft away from the rim smh!!

Totally agree with u...that's been the most ridiculous thing about testing 2K21 so far. It's just too hard to make outside shots. And I'm not even really talking about the new meter. It's that way using the old meter too! But it's all good if u play a mode like MyLeague or MyGM where there's custom sliders!! I've been getting consistently good results on shooting with those!!!🔥🔥

@@brandonwhitley8314 Smh yeah me too!! I've been testing on a friend's PS5, which has been okay, but it limits the amount of time I can do it. I thought they said they'd be in the stores and much easier to get in January, but clearly that was wrong.
The coach subbed me out in the 4th and we was down 2 then when I came back in we was down 20 and they started double teaming and making everything
SMH yep that's some my career cheese right there. I guess at least that kinda thing gets a little better as u progress more...cuz u play more minutes. It's dumb tho, especially early in my career

yeah it makes the game pretty much unwinnable. playing 2k17 on hof and it’s impossible to win, we’re playing okc in the playoffs and literally on the first possession my power forward starting doubling westbrook leaving their guy wide open for 3 every time. there’s nothing i can do about it they just get a 3 on every possession which makes it actually impossible to win. in our last game okc shot 80% from the field and 90% from 3 because of the ridiculous doubling. how tf are we supposed to win when there’s always a man open? also westbrook ended up with about 30 assists so obviously the doubling isn’t working. so dumb that there’s no way to turn it off
This game is so trash, you are essentially paying full price for a full reset for MyPlayer/MyTeam and all the stupid microtransactions and cosmetics lol. The AI is still the same dogshit thats been going on since 2016.
Yeah unfortunately a lotta that cosmetic "fluff" distracts a lotta ppl. It's like well my teammates don't know the basics of basketball...but hey they got new brands for neighborhood clothes...or new hover boards...or a jet pack or dodgeball smh WORK ON THE ACTUAL FREAKING BASKETBALL!!! I guess the only saving grace for me was the fact that if u got the legend edition, u get the free upgrade to next gen. But when u do the math, that really only saves u like $20. I guess I was gonna get the legend edition anyway, but I still wish they woulda just pushed the release back to coincide with the 20-21 NBA season. It's like this is a "bridge" edition and it's awkward to say the least.
@@ThePopboy It amazes me how they call this a basketball sim, this is a card/hero collecting game now just like every other mobile game out there on the app stores. Pathetic really, but hey I get it 2K is in the business of making money and the bottom line is all that matters at the end of the day. If people are still shelling out cash, why change. The minimal amount of work for maximum profits. Its just funny the game mode that actually made 2K popular (GM mode) has been virtually untouched and unchanged for almost a decade.

Your teammates act like the easiest settings, and if y8u switch and help, guys is wide open or you Foul them, I may be done getting these horrible games until they change the gameplay.... which will be never

It's something I've never understood: why can't we unlock control over the defensive settings in my career?? This should be like the rotation, play calling and roster moves where u unlock access once u hit a certain ovr. Unfortunately, tho, since that's not the case in my career, our options r more limited. However, most of the strategy stuff in this video (and other videos that r coming) can be applied to my career in some form or fashion. Obviously, u can't switch onto different players in my career, but it still helps to know why things r happening, so it's at least more predictable. So for this issue in my career, all we can really do is make sure we follow all the doubling rules/tips from the video with our own player. It is frustrating tho...I'm usually running around like a mad man tryna plug holes left and right in my career lol but it really does help to be able to reliably predict where/when the breakdowns r gonna happen. That's why I think all the info about the AI from the videos is important to know even if u just play my career! Sry I just wrote u a novel!!!

Believe it or not, if you don’t use the turbo button at all during a game, it actually fixes a lot of these problems. Your defense is a lot greater because it’s hard to screen you now. They don’t do all those stupid reactions to quick movements because your never sprinting. And believe it or not, you can still drive that way, it’s a little more difficult to drive for a couple plays but then it loosens up. They deactivate the turbo button 80% of time on offense anyway so it really makes no difference.. way more positives come out if this then negatives. Nobody is trying it tho. Trust me it works

I’ve figured out ways to cheat back.. when they set a screen on you to let their shooter get open, I just don’t move at all leaving the shooter open and they still miss the shot because I didn’t get bumped by the screen, I just looked at it. (Computer bs) I gotta turn into a computer to play this game lmao
When you press or hold turbo button the ai defends the paint when you press or hold the defensive stance button the ai defends the shot. This is how people “cheat” the game. I say cheat because their not making defensive plays based on skill of basketball, their making defensive plays based on knowing when the offense is going to shoot or drive. If you play against this type of player, expose the knowledge he’s lacking on defense. There’s a reason he’s choosing the ai to play on ball defense instead of him actually following the ball on defense.
I HATE the a.i.. my teammates quit in the rec so im stuck with A.Is that won't pass the ball and paint beasts shooting hail marys. Plus everyone just pass fakes then jab steps and goes lights out on the a.i.. a.i teammates are trash..
2k can patch dribble for 20 seconds behind a screen and shoot but they can't fix the a.i or any other build
Your own teammates will run against you while you’re driving just to slow you down a little like dude move out the way.. your passes will go to the wrong targeted teammate 85% of the time messing up easy assist. It’s not just the defense. It’s the game in general..

What piss me off is when you are obviously passing to one of your star players to set up a drive to the hoop or a open 3 the AI clearly have you pass to another player and you did not have your analog pointed in that player direction at all before and when pressing the pass button, 2k need to work on this, the AI shouldn't be allowed to control your actions as well or we would just watch a simulated game if we didn't want to control our own players smh

I'm right there with ya man for sure...I feel ur pain!! They used to have a slider called the "CPU pumpfake discipline" slider, and that was awesome. I would test for the best setting on like the 1st night cuz it would make such a difference. I will never ever...ever understand why they took that out. I sat there with a blank expression on my face for a while when I realized it. In terms of the CPU helping more...that's something I've actually talked to them about. It's good someone else is also not happy with it. Tell me this tho...in those situations, do u usually just score on an open rim while they make some sort of half-hearted, late attempt at helping once ur already laying the ball in?? Do u notice them adapting to getting scored on--like does it ever get better later in the game cuz they're adjusting their strategy and helping at least a LITTLE more? And I'm assuming the guys they're guarding r at least pretty good outside shooters, right?
What i really hate is that why is the ai so good and my players are trash on defense even tough i set it already in tight defense its still thesame. I also always miss some of the open shots and why the computer is so good on defense that everytime i drive to the basket they stick like glue that it can change my shot and then no foul at all. Im playing on pro difficulty 2k should fix this! Im not enjoying the game at all it always gets me frustrated!
Thanks god, they always running around to guard air and do the rotation in the middle of the attacking phase😑 (which only happens to the AI teammates, I found the opponent defence quite solid tho)
and if you are playing mycareer, they will say: you are having a ‘defensive breakdown’ wtf
omg I HATE that SO much in mycareer!!! It switches who they want u to guard randomly and u have no time to get over there to guard the new guy they just decided u should be guarding...and u get a defensive breakdown deduction on ur teammate grade
And it’s even worse on Mycareer. Im so sick of this fucking game
I do not understand how the AI for one can move laterally, and backwards, faster than your MyPlayer can run forward. Also, the spacing on the floor in Mycareer is garbage.
Your Teammates consist on following you around the court when you have the ball in your hand. The C (NEVER) leaves the paint on the post (EVER) why? Because 2K knows that they want Help D every time you touch the ball.
Lastly, the double team mechanism is by far waaaay to aggressive. The Defensive AI will legit run all the way across the court to double you. & if you beat that double team, and try to run to the wide open lane straight to the basket.
NOPE! Because the other AI’s will crash & you will be blanketed with 4 Defensive AI’s surrounding you. Not to mention when you try to run tot he basket off ball, the AI is always touching you, and then you finally slide past him you always get out in animations to get fouled, blocked, or miss shots.
While the AI gets to warp to every block, warp too always be connected to you, while your Myplayer gets slowed down in some animations plainly so you can’t run & get past your AI.

I agree in 21 it was horrible tryna play as the screener cuz the ball handler would hardly ever do the smart thing in different situations. I'm def finding a higher level of intelligence in 22 tho...and the physics is better. The spacing and player interactions r more realistic. Just wondering if u've seen any improvement on this cuz I haven't played much as a big yet in 22

@@Lemur1610 Yeah that's why I'm always so glad when I unlock the ability to change the playbook in my career. I use the triangle/Y function to force guys to cut to the rim all the time. The cam angle thing is super weird tho...what system r u on??

Actually the 2k defensive engine sucks. You see the teammates priority is to help on cutter first. They will fucking leave their man wide open to recover the cutter on the other side of the court.
On top of that, we can finally find out the invincible way to play 2k. Chris Paul + 11 3D players and tune their play type all into cutters. Their must be one left freaking wide opened.

Getting chase down by a center who has 76 speed is just irrating as hell I have all badges on hall of fame and gold and I can't even at the basket or on fast break soon as the first quarter I get double teamed I can't work on my shooting badges because I this dumbass shot meter
I can't even tell u how much I feel ur pain...especially with the double teaming. The AI needs to be TOTALLY re-done in that area. I mean it actually makes it EASIER to score on them as a team cuz they don't double smartly. And they should only double guys who r killing their man in iso situations. It doesn't really make sense to double catch and shoot guys like Klay. I've turned the new shot meter off/back to the old one. Have u considered doing that?
In the beginning turn off the shot meter and llay with real player% it helps. After you get everything maxed though have the shot meter is better.

I feel like this years game was a complete cash grab! Hell this season ain't even over yet and we still got statistics from last year on a new game! This defense is terrible both ways the shooting is an offense to those who really love the game! I didn't spend money to be frausted and annoyed!!! The developers at 2k are really mucking it up!!! If I hadn't brought the digital edition I would definitely be taking it back!!!
If you have an open lane to the goal off-ball, as soon as you go to run the goal your teammate passes you the ball which causes you to stop to catch the ball which also stops your drive and also allows the defender to catch you which just messes up the whole play so now you don’t drive. You probably pass it out due to all the defenders on ya ass now lol and turn it over smh. Every time
That's why I don't put the difficulty on HOF lol. The AI is always getting ate up by being dumb and making you compensate in a way that makes it not fun lol
