Shalom, I have a question on Baptism and I am hoping you can help me understand why there is a difference from Acts 2:38 that says we should be baptized in the name that saves “Yeshua Messiah and in Matthew 28:19 that we should be baptized in the name of the Father, the Son and the Holy Spirit. Is there a difference and why? Thank you for sharing your wisdom.
Concerning Matt 28:19 This Trinitarian formula is highly suspect. According to the Jerusalem Bible, "It may be that this formula 'Father…Son…Holy Spirit,' so far as the fullness of its expression is concerned, is a reflection of the liturgical usage established later in the primitive community. It will be remembered that Acts speaks of baptizing 'in the name of "Yahshua"' only." Equally important is Eusebius' omission of this phrase: "The facts are, in summary, that Eusebius quotes Matthew 28:19, 21 times, either omitting everything between 'nations' and 'teaching,' or in the form 'make disciples of all nations in my name,' the latter form being the more frequent" (Encyclopedia of Religion and Ethics). All immersions in the NT were done into the single Name of Yahshua (Acts 2:38; 8:16; 10:48; 19:5; 22:16). Concerning Acts 2:38 - Baptism was done only into the singular Name of Yahshua (Acts 8:16; 10:48; 19:5; 22:16 Rom. 6:3; Gal. 3:27) and involved the imparting of Yahweh's Holy Spirit. One cannot baptize oneself, as shown by Yahshua's own example in going to John the Baptist for immersion. Neither can one bestow upon oneself the Holy Spirit following immersion. Only the presbytery (ministers) are given this ability, 1Tim. 4:14. In every single instance aside from Yahshua himself. Baptism was only ever done in the singular name of Yahshua.
I have a question is annihilation a biblical truth, or it is an invention of other church bodies, inserted as a false doctrine, also is Matthew 10:28 true as I would never think god being wrathful to do such a thing as god is perfect in every way humanely imaginable thank you..
thanks from NEMO
