I learnt this song(amongst others) after watching Martin Scorceses Blues Documentaries. GO GET IT!!!!!! I can see a shift in certain genres going back to their roots... whether it works or not isnt the point... people are getting sick of all this manufactured bs Just thought id put my 10 cents worth in and am happy there are others out there who dig this stuff as much as i do Long Live The Blues(coming from a 26 y/o white boy from Perth Western Australia!) hahaha
i got that same guitar for free and learned it was a good blues guitar and that so many good musicians want and/or have it and it is a damn good guitar for blues
My kids are of the rap generation and we've debated it's validity for years. My point has always been that like any other genre rap needs to produce a widely acclaimed masterpiece to become a mature form of expression.....and part of the legacy of black music in America......still waiting...
this guy should be selling records like no shit.what happened to people making music like this.kids today either like listening about bees and hoes or just plain loud noise.now this i can hear not just listen to.great song alvin.
I agree with you on your last statement "you miss out when you listen to one kind of music. But to me rap has no redeeming qualities unless your into head banging nonsense........
Country blues weren't considered "real music" on the 20s and 30s either....and the singers called themselves songsters and musicianeers...rather than blues singers. Record companies turned the blues into a genre in much the same way they influenced rap. Just like Skip James' "Illinois Blues" survives for us to learn and play....the better rap stuff will survive as a record of these times.....Check out Elijah Wald's book on Robert Johnson...
@samwise862 Yeah man, I totally agree. But Tupac and his contemporaries were something awesome, those rappers are very rare these days. Most of today "rap scene" is just engineered, no real talent or skill. Just put enough naked women in their videos and it's done. It's an industry (even they call it that - music industry). We need real talents doing all kinds of music. Looks or money should not be determining the success of someone as a musician or rapper, but their skills. No skill - no rap.
awesome !! one of the greatest bluesman today ! a fan from Bolivia South America !!

yes, yes, yes......Skip James played for his community and not record sales for an international corporation. Music as "product" sucks...
