Once I read an article saying one of the main reasons why IU isn’t famous in US market is she can’t speak English fluently, GURL she can speaks English with correct grammar and perfect pronunciation ( she really studied hard to improve her English). I think she feels that there’s no need to make effort to break through US market, her music will speak for itself and I think she is very content with where she is at the moment. She is one of the few Asian artists that I feel that she had already proven herself with her music so whether or not she is famous globally wont change the fact that she is very talented as a musician and as an artist tbh
Recently in a variety show one of the mc said he wants iu to receive American award but iu said she doesn't want it because she is happy with what she has got in her own country for her music.
Also, I believe to be known in the U.S. you generally need to perform hip hop, especially rap since these what the market demand !! (I think) looking to the groups that are raising there, I can say that IU style is different. So no need for that honestly. her style is unique, and her songs are not for the audience who enjoy dance performance and hype music more( nothing wrong with that, it's only a preference).

IU's English is so gd! Pronounciation is perfect! For a Korean to be able to speak English like that, she is awesome! I think she can do without a translator... I may not attend this concert, but fortunately I attended her 2019 SG concert and witnessed her speaking Eng and all her LIVE singing that is so soothing to enjoy! I'm a newbie Uaena...
