    Hello ! i have to thank you.... you're my time machine.
    I'm a 53 years old man, one of many out there that learnt programming over a 8 bit machine. It was a Zx Spectrum 48k which had a Z80 Zilog processor on board (bolean processor by the way).
    I had to deal with logical operators during my assembler learning and i wish i had someone like you to teach me... it would have been faster... for sure.
    I know i'm out of topic but with this video you made me make a 40 years back jump in time and for once i can say " i know what you're talking about".
    Thank you again and keep up with this great job.

    As an experienced programmer (20y+), I can say that you actually use the "not" statements all the time, pretty much.

    "Not" is very important for the structure of scripts.

    Been grinding lately on learning Python. Already got one cert done,its from Stormwinds so not the big cert. Working on the other 2 courses that are more in depth. Watching the lesson here and knew right away how to fix the issues and understood what you were doing,was pretty cool. Python is a fun languange. A suggestion though,I would like to see you show the process of creating a GUI,with like tkinter or one of the other ones. Thatd be a good lesson in the future. These are some great and easy to understand lessons. I love how you break stuff down and explain it in a simple way for beginners to understand.

      @@Exor_o7 Allow me to politely return the favor.
      You can use the new f-strings to format. They were introduced in version 3.8 and pretty much they're what I use instead of concatenating because concatenating requires extra work.
      If you recall from the first episode, concatenating requires that all variables must be a string data type so if you have a variable with an integer value like 300, you have to convert the integer 300 into a string '5' by using the str() function:
      age = 300
      print('I am ' + age) # error must convert age into a string data type
      print( 'I am ' + str(age) ) # 👌
      Using f-strings:
      age = 300
      print( f'I am {age}' ) # type f first to initialize f-strings and enclose variables with { }
      No + symbols and no extra work of using str(). Imagine having a bunch of + symbols and having fifty variables that you had to convert using str() It would be a bad day.
      Hope this helped! All the best, ExorDG!

    So, I'm assuming you had to use the evil_status and good_deeds to validate the operator for evil_status and good_deeds. Only thing I see a bit odd is when you answer no when you're either Loki, Ben or Patricia, it'll still ask you how many good deeds you've done. I'm assuming you coded it this way to make your point in using logical operators. If you didn't go this route using and in between evil_status and good_deeds you would create a new input under if evil_status as good_deeds= int(input("
    How many good deeds have you done today?
    ")) and then continue your code from there? Am I making sense?

      There is no need to combine checking evil_status combined with good_deeds as shown in the video. If you answered YES to EVIL, you automatically go into the GOOD DEEDS check. If you answer NO to EVIL, you pass the other IF (for GOOD DEEDS) and drop to the bottom ELSE where you are welcomed. So you will only get asked about GOOD DEEDS if you answered YES to EVIL.
      if name == "Ben" or name == "Patricia" or name == "Loki":
      evil_status = input("Are you evil?

    • @swallowedinthesea11
      @swallowedinthesea11 4 месяца назад

      To continually ask a question if the answer is either not an yes or no, you would have to use the While loop. While something is True, keep asking the same question.
      while True: # line 1
      answer = input('Is Belle Delphine your waifu? ')
      if answer == 'yes': # line 3
      print('Simp!')
      break # line 5
      elif answer == 'no':
      print('Correct answer!')
      break # line 8
      else:
      print('Must type yes or no.')
      Line 1 is While True, run Line 2. If the answer is yes like in Line 3, print simp and then break like in Line 5. Break will immediately break or exit out of the While loop.
      If you type no in Line 2, Line 6 will run. Print Correct answer and then break like in Line 8. Break will immediately break or exit out of the While loop.
      If you type anything other than yes or no, the Else in Line 9 will run with the message to type either yes or no. Next, it will loop back to the While in Line 1 because there is no break statement.
      Chuck never did a loop tutorial, but you can find other tutorials on it. Loops are one of the most difficult topics to learn, but keep at it!

    Took a slightly different approach at 10:36, by embedding the good_deeds variable into the IF for evil_status. Do we want the bouncer assessing good deeds if Ben's not evil?

    Hey,
    Do you plan on expanding into use cases for ethical hacking/OS interaction?
    Here's an interesting thing to consider,
    when creating scripts that will be utilized across multiple platforms, consider creating a function that will check OS and then alter STDOUT(I believe this is proper term) based the OS,.
    I think another great topic to cover are environment variables for example in linux:
    > echo $USER
    [current user]
    And how these variables can be used in python.

    Best python course anywhere qualitative and enjoyable all the timeThis is how I did it: .lower() converts the input in lower lecters automatically.
    name = input("what is your name?
    ").lower()
    if name == "ben" or name == "patricia" or name == "loki":
    evil = input("are you evil?
    ").lower()
    if evil == "no":
    print("Please, come in")
    elif evil == "yes":
    deeds = int(input("how many good deeds?
    "))
    if deeds >= 4:
    print("Please, come in")
    elif deeds < 4:
    print("go away")
    else:

    First of all, thanks for this! I've been wanting to get started in Python for a while, and this was just perfect!
    My question though: Is there a reason why you do if name == "Ben" or name =="Patricia" or name =="Loki": instead of if name == "Ben" or "Patricia" or "Loki": ?

    • @swallowedinthesea11
      @swallowedinthesea11 2 года назад +1

      if name == "Ben" or "Patricia" or "Loki": is not the correct way to write. Even though it works, it was not intended to be written like that by Guido van Rossum, the Atar of Python.
      Alternatively to if name == "Ben" or name =="Patricia" or name =="Loki":, you can write it like this:
      if name in ["Ben", "Patricia", "Loki"]: # use the word 'in' and put the names inside a list

    still runs

    • @pipitgusmayanti8342

      The condition is always True because *or "Loki",* if the condition before it is True, the whole condition evaluates to True, otherwise the condition evaluates to "Loki", which is considered "True" by if statement.

    edit: when I try to use the boolean function at the end with
    me == "Korben"
    it doesnt output true or false, its underlined with yellow and says Statement seems to have no effect
