I have an Epiphone Les Paul and those play really good themselves. It's a great alternative if you don't wanna shell out $3,200 for a Gibson LP Standard.
I agree it don't sound better but a beginner couldn't tell cause they haven't played a long time...Just a tip most songs thru the late 80s and all the 90s are played a half step down but for beginners I can see leaving it in Standard...Just Rock on🤘

0:40 why wouldn’t you play that scale only first part and just play one tone (from second guitar section) instead of second part of the scale. You can barely hear the whole scale in the original and yet everyone making a cover play it. Do you know what I mean?

So he's playing the whole thing in E, with no backing in Eb? Technically it's still beautifully played and all the harmonics hit... But the Eb guitar i have here I've been it on needs "F" to match, and you're right, the ear likes Eb, just impractical in gig setting unless everyone with you.
