  • Ornithologists are people who study and work with birds! They are essentially bird scientists! Not only does Rebecca work directly with the birds to train and rehabilitate them after an injury, but she is also the Director of the Glen Helen Raptor Center which means she is responsible for managing the center to ensure its success and survival.
Visit www.wunderstem.... for activities to keep the learning going!
Rebecca is also responsible for developing, maintaining and implementing the educational programs the center has to offer. The center offers a number of educational experiences on site and in schools that allow student and the community to learn all about these amazing birds! These birds are educational ambassadors and allow the community to get up close to learn all about our feather friends! Explore this amazing career and soar to new heights!
An ornithologist is a scientist who specializes in the study of birds. They are responsible for researching various aspects of avian biology, including behavior, ecology, physiology, and evolution. Ornithologists use a variety of techniques to study birds, including field observation, laboratory analysis, and statistical modeling.
Ornithologists play a crucial role in understanding and conserving bird populations. By studying bird behavior, ecology, and migration patterns, ornithologists can identify threats to bird populations and develop strategies to protect them. They also work to preserve and restore bird habitats, such as wetlands, forests, and grasslands.
In addition to research, ornithologists also work in a variety of other roles. They may work in education, teaching courses in bird biology or leading bird-watching tours. They may also work in conservation organizations or government agencies, where they help develop policies and programs to protect bird populations and their habitats.
To become an ornithologist, individuals typically need a bachelor's degree in biology or a related field. Many ornithologists also have a master's or doctoral degree in ornithology or a related field. Specialized training in bird identification, field techniques, and statistical analysis is also important for a career in ornithology.
Ornithologists may work in a variety of settings, including academic institutions, research organizations, and government agencies. They may also work for non-profit organizations, zoos, or museums.
In summary, ornithologists are scientists who specialize in the study of birds. They play a critical role in understanding and conserving bird populations and their habitats. For anyone interested in making your own hummingbird nectar like hes doing in the beginning of the video the recipe is 1 Cup sugar to 4 cups water. Bring water to a boil and stir in the sugar until it dissolves. Then let it cool down before serving it to the hummingbird. I usually transfer my sugar water into a plastic pitcher and let it cool down in the refrigerator. If you want to make more in one batch, just double it.. 2 cups water 8 cups water ect ect. 🤓❤
