I would ask that you please direct your anger to your local congressman and ask why the Ospreys are still in use with so many accidents. The Marines we lost in the sunken AAV was enough to stand down 3 AAV Battalions yet these things still train off the coast of Camp Pendleton over a civilian accesible highway?! There's some deep pockets with that Osprey contract and unfortunately part of it is being paid with our blood. -Semper Fidelis.

I know because I was a crew chief on 46’s. We knew their was an issue with the Osprey’s they offered me 95 thousand to re-enlist and switch over to the Osprey, I got out instead. 95 grand was not worth my life.

Also yes guns are not the problem, school security is. You can ban guns, criminals will still get them, especially since there are millions of guns in the US already. Look at Mexico, where cartels get something like 30% of their guns from somewhere other than the US. They make guns in small illegal shops all over the world to look and function as a commercially manufactured firearm to include having a serial number that doesn’t trace back to anything. These guns are bought and sold in the US. Also If an able bodied male went into an elementary school with a knife how many people do you think he or she could stab or kill? Also mishaps include, pilot error, being shot down etc. An intelligent person wouldn’t compare two different aircraft that rolled out in two extremely different times, late 50’s vs the late 80’s. New technology decreases mishaps, better equipment radar etc. I wouldn’t compare a Vought F4U Corsairs mishaps to an F18.
Rip Devil Dogs. It’s a lot safer than the Huey. My unit had 2 helicopter crash, last one was in 96 that killed in total. A Huey collided with a Cobra off the coast of NC. I remember being woke up at around 2:30 am while on board the USS Saipan with a code red.

The damned plane needs a shunt propeller pulling backwards and upsetting the complimentary rotor wash. It should be located between the vertical stabilizers.

Sounds like someone in charge had stood to gain a lot of money on the Osprey.
I’m in the Air Force and I remember when we were TDY to the Philippines back in 2014 and that was the first time I’ve seen an osprey. I’ll never forget someone mentioning to me how untrustworthy they were and quite a few people had already died in crashes. This story brought me back to that moment as I was staring at one on the tarmac

No Thanks - I Decline the Airplane and/or Helicopter Ride. I prefer to drive into a danger zone. Things have to be pretty messed up if you have to airlift replacements into a hot zone. Remember Ia Drang Valley - Troops were transported by helicopter into an area where they were outnumbered 3 to 1. This is when they introduced the airlift into battle.

As far as I know, the Osprey is the only aircraft that keeps killing Marines. To think, that the Navy wants to replace the Greyhound with them is a chance I would not take. Stick with Helicopters.

As far as I know all helicopters have at least two rotors. Main rotor and tail rotor on most helicopters. 46’s and 47’s are fantastic aircraft with two overhead rotors, the Osprey not so much.

They just lost one 3 months ago in Norway, a nato osprey. Them things aren’t good.
