I actually praise Truls' willing to come to play in the Super League. He is the only foreigner among all Chinese players n audience. Most of the support are from Chinese and for Chinese players. This is totally new and different culture n environment for him. In my view he is doing very well. of course, he is coming to learn n for sure he will learn heaps.😊
And to get better it also helps him, just like it did with Dima
It wasn't his choice. Chinese super league invited him. Every top player wants to play in that league, because it's best way to improve tt skills quick.
That’s not what this is for. Timo would come and stay at the national head coach’s house because Chinese needed him to play them more to ensure they always beat him. And they pretty much always did. Same with Truls.

@@GZhang-zl6ho I don't think this knife cuts both ways. The more they play, the worse it gets for Truls. If everyone is prepared for whatever the other side can do - he stands no chance.

You have to be invited to be able to play in the super league. There is a big money contract. So foreigners will want that experience. But China doesn’t invite many.

Nope. It is part of the game. Like hitting the edges.
@@anssij678 hitting the edge is very rare, and we can't do anything about it. But we can fix the net thing. It's always better to avoid lucky points, so that the game is on pure skills as much as possible.
No one loses a match because of lucky net points, they are so occasional anyway, the skills matter in a full-scale match.

Because he is the only one the Chinese deem worth studying to ensure victory in olympics 2024. Everyone else is no threat. Or maybe... the Lebrun brothers could also be candidates.

I imagine there's money involved. If Truls is serious about getting at least a single big win over a top Chinese player - he absolutely can't play superleague. That basically makes it impossible for him. But maybe he doesn't really care, who knows.
@@alk672 It seems like Miu Hirano played super league 2016, before she went on for her famous 2017 run. Ryu Seung Min also in 2001, before his 2004 run. So I'm not sure it always works one way.

Truls keeps playing for tricks, the more they play the worse it will look for Truls. You can't play professionally like this, people are watching and learning. You need solid repeatable play, and Truls has none.
Hes top 10 in the world and playing in the chinese super league, i think hes doing just fine.
@@appleyard166 Sure he's doing fine. But it won't get any better for him unless he comes up with some kind of playing style to speak of. His incredible talent allows him to hit 2 or 3 shots every set that others can't, but ultimately if he wants to beat Fan even occasionally - he needs more.
how are you saying this when this match was actually really close. theres a good chance his style of play is the only reason he manages to be as good as he is. I dont know why some people complain about his style, when hes actually fairly close to beating the best of the best. not only that but hes still improving too. even many chinese players like ma long have said that theres an advantage within unique style that the chinese havent used yet, please stop being so pretentious. "you cant play professionally like this", while truls is probably one of the most prestigous european players at the moment. get off your high horse.
@@TimeattackGD It's not about his play style, it's about the lack thereof. You can always tell if someone has a plan. He doesn't. He's mostly relying on the weirdness and randomness of what he does to confuse the opponent. That is not necessarily a bad strategy, especially against people who are much better than him (like top Chinese), but the problem with such approach is that eventually it will get figured out. Chinese national team has invited him to play the superleague for that precise reason - give their top players a chance to beat him a couple of extra times before the Olympics. European players will get used to his stuff pretty soon as well, so his weirdness will stop being as much of an advantage. Then what does he do? He has no reliable repeatable way of winning points, when the weirdness and randomness no longer work - he'll have nothing.
@@alk672 these are properly insane things to say about someone who has been playing this way and dominating nearly the entire table tennis world save a handful of top players. There are 95 other players in the top 100 that still aren't beating the Chinese national team players, despite playing more orthodox. Why would we want to take the Truls out of Truls?
Just cant understand how ittf expects people to take TT seriously when they allow ridiculous paddle shapes like this. No wonder nobody takes this sport seriously. Its a joke.
