Happy that u tried this kerala dish. Goes well with potato stew or chicken curry. After refrigeration it may be so thick so can add milk or little water to get the correct consistency, milk will enhance the taste. Not pal appam but paal appam. 'Paal' means milk in malayalam. Madamji,May I suggest you another recipe to prepare Appams,which I have invented & tried out today.It came out Fantastic,do try it out ---- Take 3 cups of any Rice & soak it in plain water for a minimum period of,48 to 72 hours.Wash & drain out the water from it & add in it,a Handful of Flatt end Rice ( Poha ,any type thick/thin ) + 10 -15 Methi dane ( Fenugreek Seeds ) & Grind it in a Wet jar of a Mixer,by adding very little water.Leave it to ferment,overnight OR for 30 hours. Now add water into the Batter,thus prepared as per the consistency required, + little bit of Grated wet coconut or better still,Coconut Milk in it. Heat very little oil in a wok/Kadhai,on a medium Flame,preferably a Non Stick one, & try to make Appams as usual , WITHOUT ENO /BAKING SODA/ PAPADKHAR. Do NOT forget to add,little bit of oil into the Batter as Mohan,before pouring them. I have tried it out today & thought of sharing with you,as I like your recipes,a lot.
