Great song and such a funny video. It's a blessing and a curse to get old. Mat just turned 42. I'm about to turn 47. I still feel young, but sometimes I feel very old.
this really pulls hard at the heartstrings for me, cause I feel so disappointed to be 25 but after revaluating to take my own life. I hope I found a better way to enjoy the rest of my life as much as possible now more than ever.
Carry on with life. It's not too late to appreciate all the simple things in life. Be grateful everyday. Never think of the negative energies and focus on the good things. Be kind to anyone and cherish every moment.
Man, I just want to say thank you for the music you make. I’ll try to shorten this as much as possible...I somehow stumbled across your Young Love album when I was about to leave for college. My Mom, sister and I would listen it to it going back and forth to Mom’s doctor visits. After I left to play ball in college, it helped me on the nights when I would get homesick. As I grew older, Mom got sicker, but when we would your music-3 of your albums: Young Love, One Black Sheep, and Crazy Talk-Mom didn’t seem as sick. She would dance in the passenger seat, and sing/smile ear to ear. Right before I got married this past May, Mom passed away... it’s been tough. But when I listen to your music, it almost feels like Mom is still dancing in the passenger seat. ❤️
This track popped up on my Spotify release radar last night and I listened to it about 5 times in a row. This is just some clean songwriting. Phenomenal production, and I really dig the arrangement - some super clever moves there. This is an instant addition in to my "list of songs that I aspire to write something like" bin.
It's always been so impressive to me how you don't take yourself too seriously, and truly be yourself no matter if your telling stories at a show, playing golf as Tex or doing a virtual show. You're the best.
Each album from you is so unbelievably catchy, inspirational, relatable, and nostalgic. Always been one of my favorite artists of all time. Love love love this song!
I can't wait to see Mat in concert again! He was the last person I saw in concert before the Pandemic, and will be the first when it passes! His music is so uplifting, and I've been listening strong and proud since college (over a decade)!
Oh yeah we had a big old Pontiac in the 70's. It was the car I learned how to drive - of course always speeding and going too fast! Great memories. Love this video and song!
I used to worry about nothing Said I'd never grow up in I fell in love and it was enough until it wasn't I used to dream that we could make it But now I'm working on a paycheck And the voice on the line says I'm doing fine Can you tell that I'm faking? And we watch our friends play the same old game When we all pretend that we're OK And we won't say Take me back to the time when getting old was turning 25 'Cause in the city that you burned me, you played it back It gave me life, windows down Running 'round the south side of town On the flip phone, you told your dad no you wouldn't crash Maybe we went too fast In your Pontiac My Mama worried about my marriage But now I'm worried about my parents You could try to run from what runs in Your blood but you still gotta share it And we watch our friends play the same old game When we all pretend that we're OK We won't say Take me back to the time when getting old was turning 25 'Cause in the city that you burned me, you played it back It gave me life, windows down Running 'round the south side of town On the flip phone, you told your dad no you wouldn't crash Maybe we went too fast In your Pontiac I used to worry 'bout real life Until I fell into your eyes I fell in love and it was enough to make me realise You take me back to the time when getting old was turning 25 'Cause in the city that you burned me, you played it back It gave me life, windows down Running 'round the south side of town On the flip phone, you told your dad no you wouldn't crash Maybe we went too fast In your Pontiac Maybe we went too Maybe we went too fast In your Pontiac
Good memories from Summer 2021. Me and my buddy driving down to a beach down in Kerry, Ireland. Windows wide open with soaring temperatures and this song on blast. Ah good times.
Been listening to Mat and his music since his Nothing Left to Lose album, was actually the first CD I ever bought. Still remember getting it at Borders bookstore when I was 12. Mat, your music is fantastic. Keep doing what you do best, every song is a new download for me! This song is great, and the video as well. Thanks for continuing to make music I love to listen to
I've been waiting for weeks for a song to pull me back in and make me remember why I love music so much. Something catchy but meaningful, endearing but nostalgic. This is so very much it. Welcome back, Mat
My husband had a GM Pontiac while we were dating, so this song really hits home. Also, fun fact, my husband and I first met in Lancaster PA at the chameleon club waiting in line to see you during your City of Black and White tour. We come and see you every time you're in town. Thanks for your music!!🎶🎶🎶
This hits. I never took risks. When I was 22, I fell roller skating and broke my arm in 3 places. I found out I have osteoporosis and "the bones of a 60-70 year old." The chance for risk was over. I'm 25. I hope my related health problems don't cut my life shorter. I also live near Pontiac, so hi fellow Michiganders
Me and another guy fell in love too fast for each other. We live too far away and don't have the capacity to make an LDR work and we're both devastatingly heartbroken. We went too fast...
Ooh... This is a solid track, Mat. Great one! I went through a rough patch in my life a few years back - your music really helped me through it. Can't thank you enough

I became a fan the weird way because I saw an ad where this new album of yours that just came out and I clicked the linked and it took me to January Flower album on Apple Music.
I first heard mat on the radio the year undeniable came out. Can't even remember how many times I played it over and over. Found this and other hits just in the last couple of weeks, getting caught up on his music since the last time I RUclipsd him and found city of black and white tour. I agree with many, mat doesn't get near the recognition of great music like he should. But then again I don't think he's ever been on this journey for that purpose.
Okay, Mat. You’ve convince me that the COBAW and YL sound is back. Shut up and take my money. Well...don’t shut up, because this music is magic. But take my money. You know what I mean.
1997- Pontiac sunbird convertible, south side of bay county (Panama city beach) Motorola flip phone, burnt cds, thinking life would be over at 25 listening to John Mayer’s “why Georgia why” having the one line about quarter life crisis just stick out to me. 2002- Getting married and having my parents worry, thinking I’d made a mistake. Mat you really should release a cd every month i mean it, i love every single work from you since i discovered your musics, keep on this way always , you rock man
whos here
I am here!
Here! Love this concept!!!
Here!
This is such a great song
This looks awesome!
"Take me back to the time when getting old was turning 25."
I used to think 40 was ancient and now I’m 61 and loving this music.
Holy sludge trees that hits different.
Oh you did well! I though my life was over when I turned 16
@Carlos Montes I am turning 19 this year.
Lol
"my mom worried bout my marriage, now I'm worried about my parents."Ha. Wow. The relevance
It’s 2024 and this song still hits hard!
I think I've listened to Pontiac 100 times now. Love the piano parts. Makes me think of Bruce Hornsby... Good feelings 👍
Had the same feeling about Bruce Hornsby too.
Mat just keeps getting better and better. There’s no stopping him. His music and voice is amazing!
@@OliviaFlorence Chris Martin did the vocals. Not Mat.
@@DaynaWilliams-v5p😂😂😂
I really like how the skateboarder green-screened to pretend he’s Mat Kearney
Best comment! 🤣🤣
Ha ha
Mr Kearney, you have sublime skills. Keep it coming all the way down here to New Zealand!!
It's probably professionally shot.
Great song and such a funny video. It's a blessing and a curse to get old. Mat just turned 42. I'm about to turn 47. I still feel young, but sometimes I feel very old.
I feel that. I’m 38 and it seemed like yesterday I was in my 20s and running wild.
This reminds me of Pontiac, Michigan, the city right next to the one I grew up in
this really pulls hard at the heartstrings for me, cause I feel so disappointed to be 25 but after revaluating to take my own life. I hope I found a better way to enjoy the rest of my life as much as possible now more than ever.
Welcome to the first day of the rest of your life! Make it one worth remembering. God bless you my friend

Great song.
You gotta love a nostalgic song and an artist that doesn’t take themselves too serious.
Noice!! My 5-year-old said that song is catchy and that she wants to grow up to be like you!! Great song Mat!
This put me in such a good mood❤️ why is he so underrated?
Ive never reflected more on my life than every time I listen to Matt Kearney
"And we watch our friends play the same old game, and we all pretend that we're okay..."
Yes. Thank you for writing this.
All his music is so relatable 😮 I can't wait to see him in concert 2025

ME TOO!! Played this on loop for at least 20 minutes. I even remarked to my husband to have this song played at my funeral.
I'm from Indonesia, yuor music ia cool 🇮🇩

Just turned 40 and still longboarding. Awesome song Mat 👍🏽
I can't wait for the new album.

That's cool you share that as seems like the point is nostalgia... Things everyone knows about that no longer exist like borders or Pontiac
I've had this song on repeat since I discovered it. The piano reminds me of Bruce Hornsby. I love Matt's songwriting and voice. Beautiful video!
Good ear, Mat said this song was inspired by Bruce Hornsby
Yes! Hornsby vibes for days. That’s probably why I love this song so much.
I totally noticed this and was about to comment the same thing! The piano riffs are very similar to The Way It Is
Mat Kearney music never fails to put me in a better mood...if needed 🙂
I've been waiting for weeks for a song to pull me back in and make me remember why I love music so much. Something catchy but meaningful, endearing but nostalgic. This is so very much it. Welcome back, Mat
Nice job with that tumble. If this music thing doesn’t work out, I see a promising career as a stunt double.
“you told your dad no, you wouldn't crash
Maybe we went too fast. In your Pontiac” That lyric just changed the whole meaning of this song
This song makes me cry and idk y lol
Gorgeous scenery and as always a kick-ass song from Mat.

cute little dance moves! this feels like Oregon, when i lived there the guys always boarded down these mountain winding roads
Looks like tons of places in Eastern/Central Oregon though usually the roads aren't that smooth.
I came here from his ig story. No regrets, this song made my day🙂
