- I made a Joule Thief Circuit. If you're new to soldering, this is a good practice circuit to build as a soldering project for beginners. This project is a great way to learn soldering for beginners.

#JouleThief #SolderingBasics - Хобби
The description of this video has links to some playlists I've made for Basic Soldering. I also added some links to help you find items that are similar to what I'm using in this video.
You can also use a small common mode choke, i'm lazy :D
Bring them on, Joule Thief Vids that is, I've been enjoying messing with these lately. I like your methods, looking forward to more.
Love the 🧲 soldering. Great 💡. 👏 🙏
I've always wanted to learn about flux for soldering so I just started watching your videos and learned something. Thank you! I just subscribed and looking forward to watching more. I work w cell phones and am excited to learn more from you.
Thanks! I'm glad you enjoy my videos and find them helpful!
Can i use any of those inductor things. I have a few laying around
Love your videos.. Very short and simple. By the way, what kind of material is that inductor core?
Thanks! It's a ferrous core. I don't know much more about the material than that. I think you should even use a nail or a bolt.
I've finally been able to make the joule thief by a different schematic where two of the leads from the wound toroid are fused together into one, which then goes to the positive rail. I'm having trouble figuring out how the alternative approach shown here is the same circuit.
Awesome video! Exactly what I needed. Can I use a Toroid Core Common Mode Inductor Choke in the board or is that different than the toroid inductor you make in the beginning of the video? Is a choke the same I guess is my question.
That's a really good question. I haven't tried, but I think that should work.
@@HowDoYouDIY It did not work. :) At least not for me. I had to pull it apart and wire it as a regular toroid. Thank you for the reply.
That's good to know. I appreciate you trying it and letting us know the results 😊
Is the yellow stuff you are using during soldering rosen? The type I use is a very dark brown and has more of a syrupy consistency.
It's rosen based flux, but it's not pure rosen. I have some of the rosen you're talking about, and it works great.
Seems like I could use this properly tuned to fool my RV charger into thinking the battery is floating higher than it is. Or fool a charger into charging LifePO4 when it’s made for Li-ion.
How do you STILL have PCB laying around from Radio Shack???
You misspelled “toroid” by using two R’s.
If you need any help with your English, let me know. I’m quite good.

I have no clue what the point of this vid is or was ?
That's a valid question. The point is to show how to build a joule thief. A joule thief is a simple circuit to boost voltage. It's also a good project for someone that's beginning/learning to make electronics.
@@HowDoYouDIY So it's a type of a voltage booster ? But can it be made to boost to a specific voltage ?
Yes, it is a type of voltage booster. I think it can be modified to boost to a specific voltage.
@@HowDoYouDIY And where is the best use for it ?
This design is mainly for educational purposes. But you can use it if you need to boost a DC voltage, like lighting up an LED with a AA battery.
Please, learn how to solder, if you use Rosen Core solder you DONT need the damn FLUX.
