    So for the Azshara one, she was the queen of the high elves and the most powerful mage of Azeroth, she eventually caught attention from the Legion (demons) that made a deal with her. She would basically become more powerful as she was now, and in return she would open a gateway for the legion to come into Azeroth, more specifically the leader of the legion. After this the lands of Azeroth sundered (before it was basically a big landmass and now it has different contintents split by oceans). This sundering is where the animation starts, the lands get swept away by the waters and she tries to stop it in vain. When the drowning people blame her and she says "it's not the deal I made" she refers to the deal she made with the Legion.
    After that N'Zoth (the fish for easy understanding) is an old god, basically just a very powerful being from the void, which also took an interest in her. Not necessarily because she would be strong enough to stop him, but more because she would be a useful pawn to control. Even making her a "queen" is just throwing on a useless term for him since he doesn't quite care about titles he just needs her to do his bidding for when he is free he'd either toss her aside anyways or let her go on as she was if she wasn't too annoying. In the end he turns all of her people and her into Naga, which are kind of like meremaids/sirens.

      Azshara was the most powerful Sorcerer of Azeroth, Sorcerers are born with incredible power and expand upon it. Mages have the potential, and have to learn to use Arcane. its a nitpick, but I had to say it. But yeah, everything else was spot on!

  • @barbas5588
    @barbas5588 10 дней назад

    Important to note The Azshara cinematic did not go down that way. The world was crumbling and the water was starting to come in. She was irritated she was interrupted from enjoying her drink so she put up a barrier. She refused to accept she was about to lose everything. She heard the voice offering a deal, she took it, the barrier broke and they survived. She didn't give a damn about them.

    I don't know how you feel about potential spoilers for the specific details of individual characters and their personal stories, so consider this your warning if you don't want to know anything about Sylvanas Windrunner.
    --- --- ---
    "You'll soon join your loved ones" is actually an incredibly haunting thing for Sylvanas to say - if you read the novel of her origin story. Apparently, at the moment of her death, Sylvanas caught a glimpse of the Afterlife, and saw her departed family waiting for her and felt at peace... only to be ripped back to the mortal world as an Undead in service of the guy who killed her and the very moment that happened she lost her chance for a peaceful afterlife.
    Even if she'd die again, she'd never see her loved ones again, and the afterlife awaiting her would be some kind of bleak and tormented existence because she's a monster who's done horrible things now. I think technically, the fact that she killed other Elves, even if she was literally forced to do so by magic and had no free will at the time, that is "technically" was precluded her from ever going to her intended afterlife - though I could be remembering that part wrong.
    Apparently her learning about the fate that awaited her in the Afterlife was a big part of her motivation in her "villain arc", and kind of explains why her personality seems to shift rather drastically in the later game from "Evil, but not insane" to "Destroy everyone and everything, nothing matters". Although I will hold that I'm not personally a big fan of the direction the writers chose for her character.

    These cinematics are commonly called "2.5D" as they are not quite 2D or 3D. They have been released along with the new expansions for a while now and they are used to introduce characters and/or locations that will be important to the story they are about to release. Most of these characters that you checked in this video have been in the story before but they are re-introduced for the old-timers and a first introduction for the newer players who might not have played all the 20 years of the game.

    Aszhara was the most powerful Mage that ever walked on Azeroth btw. Sadly she went quite "evil" and brought the burning legion to azeroth again. This stuff you watched is about her doing a deal with an old god which were sealed by the titans, yet their influence is still there. They were sealed because killing them would rip the planet apart. They are like the harbingers of the cosmos force of the void.

    as someone who got into wow a year ago and had to do insane amounts of catch-up getting into it on my own:
    getting into the "story"/actual world (of warcraft) and immersing yourself into it can be fairly complicated with things like alternate timelines, canon/not canon, retcons etc. might be helpful to have someone who knows about the lore/game to help curate a playlist of cinematics/cutscenes aswell as give a bit of context to it (if you intend to react to more WoW). This would also alleviate the problem of accidentally pausing before important lines of dialogue within these cinematics and helps provide an overall better viewer experience. :)
    trying to understand the world (of warcraft), the characters and their background with just release cinematics is (imo) borderline impossible.

    Copyright booo :( Glad you got to see Jaina tho it's my favorite but im biased because I love her voice actress. Theres a lot of backstory with jaina's that you dont need to know to enjoy it but really makes it hit even harder (thats true for all of the wow cinematics tho tbf, theres only about 30 irl years spent lore building this universe). The short version is she was all about peace and betrayed her warmonger father leading to his death at the hands of the horde. Many years later the horde led by Garrosh go kinda wild and nuke her city and she is unhappy and commits many warcrimes and clearly has many regrets lmao
    Lords of War are some more in this sort of style of character focused short that are really cool, showing some characters from the Warlords of draenor expansion (which is a really complicated expansion to explain due to time travel shenanigans but you dont need to know that stuff for the shorts)

    Run where lol xD Did you not see the size of that wave? The whole city is sinking into the sea.
    Azshara is not powerful enough to stop him (N'zoth, the Old God who mind controlled that fish to exert some control in the outside world), not even close. She's just a tool to be used and manipulated so he can free himself from his eternal prison. But she is exceptionally arrogant so she thinks she can manipulate N'zoth and become a queen again.

  • @psychelicious5003
    @psychelicious5003 25 дней назад

    Azshara cinematic: A lot of those night elves did have magic. Why they didn't help? Probably just a creative decision, because it's her cinematic. One part of why she is the queen is definitely because of how powerful she is - which is A LOT. Tons of people underestimate her, but she is one of the most powerful beings in the entire warcraft universe let alone a mortal one.
    Anyway, her downfall is her hunger for power and she still hasn't changed. She will trade a lot for power, including Azeroth. HOWEVER the cinematic also shows that she's clever and she knew in that moment he (N'Zoth, one of the Old Gods) needed her.
    And that is the origin of the race "Naga", who despite their appearance share a history with the night elves (and by extension all elven races).

    just to let you know, the girl in the Illidan Harbingers Cinematic, she was undergoing the ritual to become Illidari; a Demon Hunter, you must gouge your own eyes out, for eyes are the window to the soul and once you entrap the demon inside you, you cant give it a means of escape.

    • @Starchicky12000

      Yes and no. The reason they gouge their eyes out is to try and stop seeing what the Legion is, how massive it is, and how far reaching, which IS part of the ritual of becoming a demon hunter. The result of gouging out their eyes is that they now have spectral sight, which they have to learn how to use.

    If you want to see chronologically the actual lore stuff, I recommend you from legion: all their cinematics (you have a lot to see). There are probably videos called Legion full movie cinematic or something like that on youtube..... Then follow Battle for Azeroth, same thing, watch all the cinematics. Then follow Shadowlands, especially the story of Sylvanas and Anduin. The rest is of little relevance. And then there's the current expansion, which is a story with some relevant points. It's called Dragonflight. Once you see all this. At the end of the year a saga of expansions begins. The first one is called The War Within. There's already a trailer . GL
