I know this was posted 2 years ago but this is the first time I've seen your reaction video to it... the song and the video weren't meant to be separated.... together they express what he was trying to get out there, which was his tribute to his dad. The only other thing is, I haven't seen any of your other videos, so I don't know if you address it but I would rather have seen how you would've reacted had you known beforehand that he is the singer, the guitarist, the bassist, the drummer and oversaw all the recording and mixing of this song.
I hear ya, Wolfie had performed all instruments and sang in the song. It is a very sophomoreish song and you can tell it was him all alone writing and producing it, however you can tell it was heartfelt and genuine and that he purposefully tried not to step on his fathers toes with a crazy solo. I think he wanted the message to his father to be the centre point of the song and not the song instrumentation. His interview on Howard Stern just after Eddie's passing was very revealing about his relationship with his father. I agree with your analysis and scores, could the song have been more complex and flashy? Maybe but I think it would have lost some of the meaning and gravitas.
..it's all wolf....all of it... .the whole debut album....thanks for playing along man!...the request was definitely for the video....check out the other singles....album comes out in June!
For me the song didn’t need to be flashy or anything. lyrically it does hit me a bit as I’ve just lived through my dad battling same cancer that EVH had and seen how my dad dealt with it. When you add the Video footage on top it takes it to another level. Having listened to the rest of the tracks Mammoth WVH have put out i like it as I grew up on the post grunge sound of the 2000s and it’s very reminiscent of that. I think the thing that some Van Halen need to realise this isn’t Van Halen 2.0 it’s Mammoth WVH playing their own stuff in their style. Wolf is a super talented musician and has surrounded himself with great guys to tour this project with Garrett Whitlock from Submersed & Tremonti on drums and Frank Sidoris from Slash’s band on guitar. I’m looking forward to seeing these guys live when shows start again.

I challenge you to listen to YOU’RE TO BLAME and THINK IT OVER.
DISTANCE was never meant to be on the album, it was a bonus track.

Been waiting for your reaction to WVH but I wasn't thinking you would do this song. "Don't Back Down" is the shit!
I'll need a link so I watch the correct video.
