Four of us toured India in 82. on original GS1000s Suzuki. The madness seems the same but the roads look better. Enjoy the experience. Thanks for the video's
That’s so interesting! I bet you had an incredible time. It must have been fascinating to see India in the 80s! Sean’s first bike was a Suzuki SV1000. Thanks for sharing this with us. 😄
Yes, traffic has been increasing at a faster pace than doubling or even tripling of lanes on the roads. The road Sean and Emily traveled in this video was 2 lane ~15 years back and kind of saturated back then. Then they made it 4-lane around 12 years back. And now it's being made a 6-lane highway. This is also my way to my hometown near Goa-Maharashtra border. So I face this same thing every 3-4 months when I visit hometown.
So, I have been doing Pune to Goa (Pune - Satara - Kolhapur - Nipani - Ajara - Amboli - Sawantwadi - Mapsua, Goa) for about 23 years now. The stretch between Satara - Kolhapur - Nipani is semi urban but mostly agricultural, therefore the locals on two wheelers and tractors use it like it's their backyard. Heavy Vehicles try to avoid them so move to the right most lanes which becomes a pain for every motorist, but that keeps the locals safe. We hate it every bit as anybody else the beeping and chaos. Therefore, your positivity is highly commendable. you guys are going to be just fine!!!
Thanks so much!! Great to hear from someone that has a wealth of experience 😎💪🏻 We are having a great time and enjoyed every day of this tour -it’s a privilege to be able to ride in India 😊🙏🏻
Emily truly deserves more appreciation! She keeps us in the loop while Sean stays focused on the road, talking when he needs to concentrate so we know what’s going on. She’s always calm, cracking jokes and laughing at the crazy drivers, and never missing a beat when it comes to checking the road herself. I think Sean stays so calm because he knows Emily can literally handle anything. You two are ace!
Remember India is a country of 1.4B people, rules made in Europe for a fraction of that population will not work in India, imagine if we have stop streets like Europe and everyone follows that, then how long the que will be. We must accept that every country is different with different dynamics Anyways have a wonderful journey in India, India is a world on it's own. Enjoy😊😊😊😊
However in India 7.5% of households own a car whereas in Europe 80% of households own a car and our land area is a lot smaller, so country population is irrelevant to traffic distribution. Roundabouts and traffic control systems would also surely work in India 🤔 We really enjoyed our time in India and have had a great time. 😎👍🏻
@@SeanandEmilyYes, that's right but that is easier said than done. I agree the traffic control systems must be followed but what I meant to say that is , don't look at the traffic system of India with European lense, by the way enjoy your trip and I didn't intend to offend.❤
@@SeanandEmilywell even 8% of the Indian population is bigger than the European countries . 8% of the Indian population is around 104 million people which is significantly more than the European countries. But I understand your frustration. I enjoyed your video ❤
This is completely Bullshit. How do you thing China operates they don't have honking problem and they probably have more cars than India. It's not that it can't happen but it can't happen because people like you accepted it and refuse to change. Rant over and out.
10:12 The truck guy is trying to change the line that's why he has to beep because he can't see blind spots and these small bikes make life even more difficult for the truck person.. I hope you will adjust to the beeping noise by the end of the trip..😅
@@SeanandEmily I ride a KTM adventure 250 in India and use earplugs for long highway rides. It helps to reduce stress because of the suppressed wind noise and honking. It was fun to watch this vlog, the NH-48 is in bad condition sadly. Burst out laughing when I saw your blackened faces at the end. Enjoy your time in India.❤
I am following these guys since last 5-6 videos. All I hear from them is complaints when they are on the roads and in hotels. No matter how many people try to explain them. I think they should focus more on journey.
So you just ignore the excitement and positive reactions to all the great experiences we have had and focus on the natural reactions to riding on the roads - should we just pretend that riding in the roads here is a relaxing experience and that everything is perfect?
In India beeps are not rude like western places. Beeps are used to indicate the vehicles presence nearby you or to give side to overtake. And it may look difficult to a foreigner but how many accidents did you see on route, keep in mind India has 1.4 billion peoples.
@@SeanandEmily On the other hand, all those people still need to get around, which means autorickshaws or bikes, and they are on the streets more frequently than a Western car.
Also as one said the beep is not 95% that someone is rude to you rather he wants to tell he is around and be careful. Also slow moving vehicle should be on the left and over taking happens from the right lane but most often some drivers who consider themselves following the speed limit forget the lane traffic and drive on right lane completely blocking others who need to reach fast. I also honk hell out of them to move believe me but it's all part of madness. If u can ride in India u can ride in any corner of words
According to a quick google (so could be wrong) there are over 256 million cars registered in the EU and 50 million in India and you have a greater land mass so it's actually a lot busier in Europe.
India is a developing country with a huge population and is making rapid strides in economic growth, has plenty of varied, robust and thrilling tourism to offer that suits every budget. Sean and Emily are doing a splendid job by travelling on a bike all by themselves and discovering the rural part of India as well as the popular destinations. 👍👍
Thanks very much! Yes it's great to see all the positive steps India is making in all areas. The new building projects are very impressive and will be fantastic when finished. We are really enjoying the rural areas and have enjoyed our time in India very much. 😊👍
When someone beeps in india it means attention they are passing through as a measure to make sure to avoid any mishap, Btw loved your journey 😄 Lots of wishes 😃
Unfortunately they also do it when they are doing something dangerous 🤣 - the 'safety beep' lol Glad you are enjoying the series -it's been a great adventure!
Excellent series of videos. Really enjoying your illuminating experiences in India. I hope to return there one day - maybe on a bike this time after your first class example! It has been 30 years since I last visited. My father was an officer in the Indian Army during the Second World War (we are Scottish though!) We stayed in Goa in the days when you could buy an "allocated on arrival" trip! You knew where you were going but not the class of accommodation till you stepped off the plane! In India it was a little shack near the beach in Goa. ( In Egypt we ended up in the Hilton Luxor! ) It was about £200 for a 3 week trip in those days! I hate Xmas and was delighted to escape the usual nonsense and to be in India. Unfortunately the very first night in our restaurant a whole group of little Indian children dressed in Santa gear came in and sang carols to the customers!! Of course we completely forgot about the catholic Portuguese influence! I shall never forget seeing flying fish from a little boat in Goa. I can't forget India, the poverty, the beauty of the country, the mad bureaucracy and the wonderful people. The driving was crazy in those days. Nobody put their lights on at night (to save their batteries they believed) and once the public bus we were on stopped and started reversing on the motorway in the pitch dark! Insane but unforgettable. Ahhh, India!
Hi Andrew, wow sounds like you've got some great memories of your time in India and it must have been a great adventure too!! Your words reflect our feelings too so not much has changed especially the friendliness of the people 😊 So glad that you are joining us on this tour and we cant wait to share the great places we visited. Thanks for watching 😎👍
Hats off to you both for taking on India's infamous traffic on two wheels! Have an amazing time in Goa, Do visit south goa if you have the time and may your bike rides be filled with scenic views, cool breezes, and minimal beeping!
Welcome to india...❤ Not being rude just letting you know Not every car or truck that is beeping near you is beeping at you..and if they are beeping at you they just let you know their presence or if they want to overtake .. Have a happy journey ❤️ Be safe🫶
Thanks for the info, sometimes hard to know who is beeping at who - it feels like people are always about to drive into us 🤣 Thanks for your well wishes 😊
They are just sharing there experience, it is what it is guys, we don't have peoples who follow rules, and we know that our traffic system is poor, our government vehicle driver's drive like they own the road, it will get better for sure in upcoming year's ❤
Thanks for your support, that is exactly what we are doing. We will be sharing so many amazing moments and places in India too as we have really enjoyed visiting India. Yeah exactly, can already see awesome road projects being built 👍
Sean you are too innocent for indian roads😅 Here me in my room screaming "could have overtook" The thing is even though we have plenty of time, we dont wanna waste it by following someone slow
@@SeanandEmily "What do you want us/them to do" -- that honking was a response to two equally slow vehicles blocking both lanes. The rules are, if you're not overtaking, keep to the same side and keep a lane open. Doesn't matter which.
Thanks Steven! Glad you enjoyed it and we sure had fun on this tour 😎👍🏻 Here’s the full playlist so far: ruclips.net/p/PLl_mRzVHVQ0wJPbyexi3mOgrm1tK3x-CL&si=Xbxz9qLwpakLgIPt
Following your India journey. One recommendation, while ordering food, you can ask for no spicy or less spicy. Or ask recommendation from server for less spicy dishes.
All over India trillions and trillions of dollars are being spent for infra developments. It started after 2014 and it's still going for this decade. It's massively spread all over India for better connectivity.
No offense to India but...holy cow! What a day. The riding was so intense because of the in and out drivers and the constant beeping. So glad to see you land at such a beautiful hotel to get a much-needed warm shower and a restful night. Looking forward to the next trip to finally arrive in Goa. You are an amazing couple!
@@SeanandEmily It may look rude, but it isn't. Sometimes people here in India come in between, so that is the way to warn that i am coming don't change the lane. Hope it helps :)
You’re already on journey so might be a bit late to suggest this but just stick with the coastal regions to avoid trucks. India might become a good cross country destination 10-15 years from now but today I’d only travel around the eastern regions to avoid highway trucks. Traveling mainly the route from Rajasthan to Kerala but sticking mostly to the coastal highway. Or I’d suggest the Himalayan ride In areas such as Ladakh, Uttrakhand , Himachal Pradesh , Nepal , Sikkim and going further towards north east India up to Arunachal Pradesh. I’ve been on a road trip Across USA it was one of the best experiences, I feel India might become a great road-trip adventure destination but for today I’d just stay around the periphery
The areas you suggest look amazing and we will return on another trip to do these. We had time at this part of the year so thought it was best spent in the south. There have been lots of fantastic rides here in the south but some of the connecting roads are a bit chaotic - all part of the adventure 😎 That's cool that you have road tripped across the USA (not somewhere we have really been before) India will be an awesome road trip destination in the future for more and more people as there is so much diversity in the country. Thanks for watching and all the best 😊👍
Just leaving a comment here for the algorithm to pick up your videos. Loved this episode too.💚 It's nice seeing you guys finally open up about what you really feel about the traffic and the people in this episode. Ignore the people in the comments who are offended for no particular reason at all.🤷🏽♂ Looking at the comment section it seems like most of your audience are Non-Indians, so no need for pandering😁.
Thanks for your support Bro! 😎💪 We've always been upfront about our thoughts, but appreciate you noticing it in this episode 👍 We have no idea why people are offended about observations of other peoples driving lol 🤣 We have really enjoyed India and not said a bad word about it 😊
Kolhapur is my home town.... I travel on that road daily..... If you ride on that road safely then You are pro bike rider ...😂 .... Sry for Inconvenience of road .....come next year you will get new expressway ..with no traffic.
Awesome! We successfully traveled for 3 weeks without incident so happy with that 😊 There's some impressive road projects going on and they will be fantastic when finished 👍
Hi Robert! Thanks for your comment. Yeah the constant beeping dies your head in! 🤣🤣 finally stopped when we got to Goa -oh that was a welcome but if peace and quiet 😊 ruclips.net/p/PLl_mRzVHVQ0wJPbyexi3mOgrm1tK3x-CL&si=1IEGosDlAQN2DKyh
Well done both. You are braver than me. I can imagine how exhausted you must both be. I remember riding in Manilla and swore I'd never do it again. Have fun and I'll look forward to your next video 😎
Slowly you are getting use to indian traffic & "beeps"...it is just routine here for people to beep even if you are not on there way, sometimes just ignore. Good progress guys awesome Goa waiting for you ...😁
people in cities like Mumbai use indicators but not all of them , but in other places too some have the habbit of indicating and they do follow lane discipline while being practical at the same time with other traffic...and the rest indicate when there are many vehicles...you should have taken NH66 highway the one you started from...
Hi, thanks for watching and great to hear you are enjoying the Vlogs 😎👍🏻 Yeah the rumble of the boxer does make for a soothing ride ….until you open up the throttle 😉 We are actually back home now but we had an awesome time in India!
Hi Sean Emily I have been following you for a while and it looks like one of your most challenging countries so far. Given I prefer not to ride in the dark like yourselves I was glad to see you arrive at your hotel safely. Please try to avoid doing it again because my old heart cannot take the stress. Enjoy. Ted
Hi Ted! Thanks for following our journey and your are right this one has been the most challenging one so far - also the most exciting 😊. Doing our best to arrive before dark but sometimes things take longer than planned .....there is a another night ride in the rain coming up and that wasn't nice 😉 But rest assured everything works out 😉 Thanks Ted!
@@SeanandEmilyyeah, but now every vlog it seems u didn't get what beeping means here in india, asking again & again in evey vlog what they want us to do like fr ?
6:50 Yeah its kinda true here trucks and busses have kind of highest priority if u see one approaching u give a way and cycles are on the lowest level of this chain, thats why u see most bikes in india below the shoulder lane on highway.
saw lots of signs for busses and truck to keep to the left lane ...none of them do though. This bike is too big to ride in the hard shoulder, but it makes sense for teh smaller CC bikes to do this
Hey Sean! In India the most of the people had a bad impressions over the truck drivers as they do a lot of accidents on the roads. Not like any other country the truck drivers have a happy driving experience in India. even though they drive properly the local bikes and some reckless cars put the truckers life's in danger and the locals make the truckers to accept the fault even though he didn't make a mistake. So they had to relay on the horns for their life. Please understand if a truck or any vehicle is right back to you and honking, it means they telling you to give some space for them. If the vehicle is far from you then you don't need to worry about their horn because they doing the same thing to some else. You can also follow this honking process if someone is blocking the road in front of you and also if the person is in the next lane before you. you can alert them by honking that mean " I'm coming through don't make a move towards my lane as I'm passing you". I hope you will understand the reason for honking. I wish you a happy and most memorable journey in your life. 💖💖
Rules are simple 1/ the bigger vehicle has right of way 2/ rear view mirrors are for checking your hair and makeup. 3/ the vehicle who’s nose is in front has right of way except in rule 1. Multi lane Highways are new in India. No one follows lanes. The sensible procedure is to keep wide view and allow for mistakes.
@@SeanandEmily they are the rules of the road. The police believe that in any accident the larger vehicle is at fault. Another reason for the incessant honking is because of rule 2. No one checks the rear view. The concern is only for vehicles ahead of you. So to warn these people horns are used. But do continue to use international driving rules and check your mirrors and look over the shoulder. But also believe that every other road user will be a complete idiot. This is for your safety.
I will suggest you to explore some places and do some sightseeing in India if you come back in future 👍 visit some Waterfalls, Ancient Caves, Temples, Forts, Blue Lagoons etc.
yeah all this construction marathon began almost a decade ago.india is changing its transportation dynamics.Earlier almost all the highways used to look the same as in the video but a lot has changed in recent times. They are building New Highways Updrading the old ones every now and then. Also u havent ridden an actual Mortorway which we call it expressway(they are very few in no. currently)also bikes are not allowed on them, only two expressway in north india allows bikes, one u may use to get to Agra(city of Taj Mahal) from Delhi.
Thanks for the information, we were surprised how many roads were new and under construction. Yeah we took the express way in a taxi - really nice -had a tunnel under Mumbai too!
You should stay at south goa which is less crowded and has more beautiful beaches and greenery all around and you can find authentic local cuisines there. Have a happy stay 😊
Well, although this is not the season. But you guys should really visit Ladakh, or the north east India especially Sikkim has stunning waterfalls or Arunachal Pradesh has some of the most beautiful valleys. You guys should check that out
Try visiting Rajasthan and enjoying landscape, various types of over here, massive highways, Expressway since got immense land area and lot of differentiates different culture. Love to see try next time you visit India road trip across it in winters only since it’s get too harsh in summers weather here.
You are so lucky ,you both are good partners, I like to explore India by road but I don't know when it will happen.best of luck for your further journey.best wishes.🎉
1:24 When British rules satara that time they build this tunnel and this is exact Trade route to enter city. After Came out from this tunnel if You take right and Travel 22 km onwards You will find and Amazing spot 1) Thoseghar Water fall .. 2) Chalakewadi Wind Mills this two locations are so beautiful.....and Tourist visit those places.
I think that we need a film making about a jewel heist, along with a truck, a tuk-tuk and a motorcycle having wild chase scenes on the road to Goa then into the city.
@@SeanandEmily next time if you come again in India, plis do visit nothing east state, especially mizoram, it is a honk free state.. And alo if you have an India content, you will surely gain lots of sub and view 😄
Another great ride. Drive safe, but do try as much variety of food. Especially the regional ones. Like when you are in Goa, you must try vindaloo(pork/beef/lamb), Balchão(shrimp), Goan Sausages, Croquettes, Goan Fish Curry, Chicken Cafreal, crab xacuti, Fish Recheado and all the international dishes (since its Goa, you will get a variety of good international).
They are beeping because they exoect you to ride more agressively. Some people like to make noise and put on a show. That truckdriver is probably beeping at everything that moves with his special horn. Best way is to ride faster than the traffic and put some distance. Here, there are some roads that are nice, and then there are some roads that need to be ridden on to get to the good bits. This road is best done before anyone wakes up.
Can't really ride much faster when there is two giant truck in front of us but as you say so many just beep without even thinking first. Riding early in the morning is a great idea!
Perhaps your RUclips channel has the option of captions, what is the speed of the video or it passes while you are reading it, did you remember your country after seeing the mountainous road
FYI, even though India got its independence in 1947, its Economic liberalization happened in 1991. So economically, India is only 33 years old. Most of the countries in the world have already built their economy and infrastructure till 1990. Even China's economy was opened in the 1970's which is why they are 20 years ahead of India in terms of economy and development. But India is slowly getting there. 10 years ago we didn't have enough 8 lane highways, semi high speed trains, sea link, metros, bridges, upi etc. My state got a 6 lane highway just last year, now we're also getting a 6 lane cable bridge. India will be developed in the upcoming 30-40 years.
6:12 I guess it's most likely a mix of two things , 1) you're tourist or a traveller so you can go a little more leisurely exploring or discovering things on the way , that guy might be stressed about reaching on time for a business meeting or reach home in time to Join for a work meeting or something mundane & a day to day thing like that. Most are aware how expensive BMWs & other higher cc bikes are so though it could be partly a superiority thing but most likely it's not the case . Most two wheelers in India are 150cc so by the extra length and width you can easily understand that's a huge & expensive bike. 2) since the traffic gets so hectic , commonly there is a disdain between four+ wheelers and two wheelers , because a four wheeler gets stuck in traffic more often and two wheelers wiggle their way out of every gap that they get even while in standstill traffic. So people in cars have a habit of stopping in traffic in a way as to deny access to two wheelers to narrow gaps to escape the traffic and rather want them to also wait like cars.
Every truck has board with "sound ok horn " on the back of it , apart from certain metro areas people don't use indicators and stuff. So honking is the standard form of communication , to inform or rather announcing your presence and where you are located next to a vehicle , to indicate that your going to change lanes or going to make a turn or slow down or going to make a halt on the side of the road. A honk can mean many things. Most trucks have speed governor's locking their speeds to 40kms/hr so people constantly honk at them for them to give way or they overtake them quite aggressively.
Morning 7am onwards , afternoon 12pm onwards , evening 4pm onwards upto 8pm , these are when traffic is the most worst and hectic , so typically people keep this into consideration when they plan travels on road , they make sure to not reach highly populated area during these times. They either drive early morning around 4am or 5am so they can cover the maximum distance in short time , then they relax somewhere for a lunch break afternoon , then when the afternoon traffic is less they again get back on the road. If you stick to national highways and through main roads , people don't have issue traveling at night , coz post 9pm or 10pm onwards there will be significant reduction in traffic so that's the best time to cover lot of distance in less time & in less traffic , so you've got to plan by road travels in India like that ! Otherwise you'll end up passing through all the choke points at all the peak hours & get yourselves completely exhausted navigating through intense traffic.
Also it's typical to find a main road in the middle and service roads on either sides , on service roads they don't strictly follow one-way two-way separations , but you can't do so on the main middle road (be it a flyover or national highway or expressway etc) , then you get some unexpected things like what you experienced when the main road is closed for construction and only the service roads are open , that's when this one-way two-way things become complicated.
@@SeanandEmily 🙂 and by the way I guess Google maps will be better than others for navigation? India has its own constellation or set of navigation satellites specially customized for India , so Google maps has access to those as well (as well as made in India or made for India phones & devices), it'll be much more accurate than other options that you can get that only few travellers use , Google maps works best with more density of people using them for day to day navigation and guess what India has so much people using Google maps , it's one of the best well connected and well mapped out places in the world , even in the west in remote and rural areas you'll have difficulty with navigation and cell phone network coverage , but in India barring very few naturally occurring mountainous areas & some other physically difficult to get network reception areas (coz of physics) rest almost all villages towns and cities have very useful real-time gps navigation and cell service , again thanks to India's own constellation of dedicated communication satellites. Up until the last decade India was few years behind on the latest of technology from the western world , but now it's one of the pioneering leaders with rest of the global east & global south group of nations. India is going strong with adopting 6g networks , digital payments , 15 minutes quick commerce , reliable e-commerce logistics and so on. Anything that's tech, finance and service related India is going to be a leader in the next couple of decades. So many opportunities and so much growth potential. It's a great time now to be in and from India.
Thanks for another fun and tense episode. You didnt say why Sean disappeared for so long at the end of the last episode. As a rider I feel for you. Funny thing is that when I rode there that way of riding was all i knew. Not sure I would want to do what you're doing, now that I have been riding here in Canada. Stay safe and well, expect the unexpected, let those in a hurry go ahead. Ride like the others don't care you're in their way. Happy travels.
You're welcome, it wasn't very interesting -basically he went for water and snacks and they didn't have change for a 500 rupee note so had to wait 20-15 min for them to get change 😁. That's a really interesting perspective that you have know both, how was driving in Canada for you when your first drove there? -Canada is a wonderful country!
@@SeanandEmily I guess that's good to know for other travellers .... carry smaller notes for cheaper purchases. Though I have seen other travel vloggers say they found India very much ahead of other countries in accepting electronic payment even street vendors... but may be that's in the big cities. Driving in Canada was a breeze for me, I'd driven on the other side of the road on my travels so it wasn't a problem. Got my license 1st try. I think what one has to realise is that India has a population of 1.4 billion in not so big of a landmass and so the population density in some places is very high and issues that might seem isolated in countries with less people get exponentially amplified in India. Try driving in Paris, Rome, London or New York . Try getting around the arc de triomphe 😅
Hey Sean & Emily, Nice video. Remember what I had told you, earlier..... Expect the unexpected!! You're doing pretty gud despite you not having much experience riding on our roads. And don't worry much about some people talking about population etc. Bottom line is people, not all, but a fair number have procured their licenses without having even gone for any driving/riding test. In the metros, by & large people will follow the rules, but the more remote you go, the rules are only for the role book, if that!! Yes, in India size is might..... Trucks & buses, being way larger than you, will have 0 consideration for a Biker. And, flashing of lights (pass lights) don't hold a candle VS horns. As a Biker, you will need truckloads of patience, and sticking to the left lane, as far as possible. You will learn the intricacies of riding in India. You've only just begun!! Ride safe & tc
Yes you did warn us 😊 Thanks so far so good, actually got into the rhythm of the traffic after a few days. Yeah as much as I get the argument about population the roads are not actually that busy (often get stuck in back to back traffic in Europe) and as the road network improves in India and speed increases there will have to be more rule enforcement but that's not really for us to comment on. Yeah patience is the key, thanks again for your comment and we wish you safe riding too 😎👍
The best way to reduce the impact of honking sounds is by using noise-canceling earplugs. While they won't completely eliminate the noise, they can significantly lower the intensity of excessive honking, providing much-needed relief.
Another fascinating watch and I can imagine how irritating those horn beepers must be, it’s bad enough in the UK when drivers tailgate you but if they beeped as well, driving would be a nightmare. That hotel looked incredible and for £50 a night 😲! Hot water, loo roll and pasta, absolute paradise! Your faces when you took off your helmets, were hilarious, you looked like you’d been auditioning for a part in the remake of Oliver Twist.
Haha 'please sir can i have some more' 🤣 Yeah really irritating - the most frustrating is the beeping when you clearly have nowhere to go. This hotel was a bargain and fantastic -a much welcomed rest and dinner menu!
@SeanandEmily funnily enough, (or not!) after commenting, I went to have a shower in our French hotel (well known chain too) and the water was tepid!!!! 😧
Gee, what an adventure you guys are having. Think I be mentally exhausted after an hour.😊 The banter is first class too. Em says….Whacky Races….😂 You mentioned the guys saddle bags, 2 plastic buckets with lids. Giving/SW Motech mist a trick there…..😂 Stay safe guys. X
Hi Mark, yeah it really is turning out to be an adventure straight from the word go 😊 Haha glad you appreciate our banter -most of the time we forget the cameras are rolling and there's so much to react too lol Haha the buckets are the future of adventure motorcycling 😂 Thanks Mark and catch you in the next one
@ thanks. If you need a bed, I got a double. On the coast, just south of Aberdeen Scotland. Can show you my area. In the future. (Biker to biker) Wee Mark.
Absolutely right. Yes the idea that car owners have a superiority feeling that they are better. Unfortunately that’s just a sad thought. Ha ha I too wish you don’t pick up the bad habits. & Emily… I do agree… you need 🏀 of steel to ride here & especially for you guys. Sean you are man of steel 😊💪
Riding here is definitely an adventure, We’re doing our best to stay sharp and avoid picking up any bad habits along the way! -although we think a lot of it will be useful lol haha thanks!! 🦾 😊
Emily, I think that you need to spend half a day riding side-saddle, to celebrate being in India !! You also need to try and find a hotel on a motorway bridge, so that you can watch the Wacky Races all night !! Meanwhile, there is some very old footage on the internet, of an English bloke riding carefully and patiently on a Honda C90, behind a large truck. The truck hits a massive hole, turns over and brings down a power line. Very scary!
Haha and wear a saree for the complete look! Yeah good point, can only imagine what one would see if you sat and watched the traffic all day. Gosh scary stuff indeed! - but had we heard that before going we would have been more shocked, now we are like 'that sounds normal there' 😉
@SeanandEmily I know, I am talking about audio track in your video, in this video language is different language available examples, hindi, english, and many more
Ahhh okay, this RUclips does -it's a new dubbing feature that's being tested. How do you find it out of interest (as there is now way of us understanding if it works)
Beeping is normal to alert other vehicle is approaching.. we treat this as security measure..... so nothing yo feel offended.. Well enjoy Coastal India ❤
I’ve driven up North and most of South and I can assure you, my honk count will be less than 10. Unnecessary honking is such a menace in India. This happens when individuals pay a bribe to get their license
@10:18 Believe me man it's not unnecessary for the most of time like @17:03 they're just telling u that they're trying to overtake and asking u for getting aside so they can overtake as in India as per the rules u can only overtake from right side although people not necessarily always follow that rule. If they don't honk then there will be a lot more accidents. They're not trying to be rude or anything. @9:35 Yeah! Welcome to India habibi. Ur safety is in ur own hands. God knows how we function as a country. Even we don't have any idea😂😂. Jokes apart please ride carefully. India has a lot of fatal accidents every year. If one can drive in India he/she can definitely drive anywhere in the world.
It is unnecessary most of the time - so much so everyone is beeping that nobody actual knows who is beeping at who. Using mirrors and checking blind spots before pulling out could be the better solution 😉 ….but as you say it appears to work 😁
@SeanandEmily sorry but it's just what foreigners think that people don't have any idea who is beeping at whom. They know exactly and also know when someone is honking unnecessarily and only then they object to it. One European vlogger said it best about Indian roads that it's like an orchestra, it looks chaotic but somehow there's a coordination too 😂
bcoz no body follwoing rules , City rides or bike rides in bumper-to-bumper traffic require extra caution, as nobody seems to follow the rules. Even someone driving a Mercedes may act like they're piloting an airplane on the road. Always stay vigilant, whether you're on highways, city roads, or urban streets.
I really appreciate you getting out of your comfort zone and exploring a foreign unfamiliar territory🙏 it takes a lot❤...only thing i would suggest is that if you really want to enjoy country like india get out of your heads open your heart and be fully present in the moment...mind creates lots of unnecessary anxiety and fears which stops you from really experiencing something new..🙏lots of love and respect and all the best for your future adventures
6:22 If someone behind you beeps, It means he wants you to get aside to the left of the road so that he can overtake you from the right. So, if someone beeps behind you, give him a pass by getting aside to the left. 🙌
Well Sean, rather you than me, riding in that traffic. Emily was asking why everyone was peeping, I think it's to let you know they are there. Bet yous slept well that night. 😴😴
We were on full alert everyday ...hard work lol. Yeah but the problem is they are constantly beeping so it means nothing at the end of the day 🤣 Oh yeah the best nights sleep!!!
Please wear some light coloured cotton clothes to beat the heat. You look a bit overdressed for the Great Indian Heat. 6:30 The beep when a car passes you, in this case, is to let you know that he intends to pass close to you and you need to, both, maintain a steady balance and avoid sudden turns to avoid an accident. This is because when we drive in India we need predictability on what the other people are going to do and when passing close to another vehicle we have a blind spot. In this case the car driver couldnt figure out if you had a pothole or gravel in front of you (its a blind spot for the car driver) which would cause you to make sudden movements so he is beeping more as a courtesy to let you know that he is passing very close and requesting you to not make any unexpected change in forward movement which could potentially cause an accident. During night drives, the beep is generally replaced by a flashing of the lights.
So if there was a pothole/ gravel or something i needed to avoid beeping at me whilst driving extremely close to me would help me how? We don't have the luxury of different coloured riding suits for each country we visit plus a white suit would look very dirty very quickly - this suit is vented and probably not that much warmer that a lighter coloured suit.
@@SeanandEmily That beep will let you know that he is close to you at right so in case of any sudden obstacle you should not turn right all of a sudden instead slow down and go around it through the left. Btw I am not supporting his impatience or coming that close to you.
Superiority complex for cars is real thing here. If a two wheeler is getting ahead of them, they dont like it. Be careful of large trucks, they can be dangerous on highways. Running slow parallely and occupying all lanes is common habit of truckers. They do it for fun. Thats why others get irritated and honk at them.
Thanks for confirming, we though that's how it was (although others are saying we are just complaining 🤣-maybe they are the car drivers lol). Thanks for the heads up, indeed those truckers don't seem to care about anything around them 😮
There are pollution and other problems in India but vehicles getting stolen is not one of them, particularly inside a good hotel. Anyway better be safe than sorry with the locking up of your bike 😊
Hey guys beeping is to make u alert of their presence and a subtle nudge to you to move aside incase he wants to pass you, there is usually so much happening in front of u, that u may not have time to look in the mirrors, the beeping helps u deal with that by using ur ears instead of just ur eyes. GET USED TO IT!! dont panic (all that complaining is getting boring now)
The trucks r beeping for a reason. they do not trust amateurs on highway. There are many other routes, you should've taken. Prolly be faster for you cause the roads would be better and traffic would be far less, just that the turnings would be more.
16:00 YES WE WILL JUDGE YOU!...... to be SANE. 🤣🤣 even most Indians don't do very long road trips on bikes. most prefer cars or touring taxis or public transport.
Some suggestion for safe riding, you shouldn’t be riding on the fast lane or right side at 40 kmph, ride on left lane overtake from right, people honking is not for you only it’s for someone on the side or ahead, being extra extra cautious makes you confused and distracted, take it easy and relax and ride, some mantras of riding in India
true but if the vehicle in front is blocking us we can't really go much faster. We started only overtaking on the right but there are so many vehicles sitting in the right lane going slow that we had no choice but to use the left. You're right the beeping is distracting to begin with -although after a week we could hardly hear it anymore lol. Thanks for the tips! 😎👍
In India, driving does not have any hard and fast rules. It is all about being flexible with your movements and keeping things flowing. You must not follow too much lane discipline, that is liable to slow you down. You must also be aware of vehicles behind you even without using rear-view mirrors(though it is better to have them). Don't worry of the honking, just ignore it. Many people are just horn-philiacs, if that could be a word, just use it as a tool to understand that there is someone behind you. The more insistent the horning, the more it is better to let the moron pass faster. It would have been better if you guys had travelled with a group. Never get stuck behind a truck or an auto rickshaw. Even if you have to break road rules, get out of their behind. Trucks will never move very fast and take up an entire lane of the road. Auto rickshaws in my riding/driving experience are agile and unpredictable vehicles in the city and slow vehicles in the highway whose movement can get surprising since they can turn very fast. They are like small cars whose drivers drive them like bikes.
We started to get the hang of it after a weeks or so 😉 There is so much horn blowing going on i'm sure everyone just ignores it - like the sound of a ticking clock

I did it in 84 on a R65.
@PaulMower 82 was 30 yrs ago man.
@@bochabicha 82 was 40 years ago😅
Great to hear from someone that has a wealth of experience 😎💪🏻
We are having a great time and enjoyed every day of this tour -it’s a privilege to be able to ride in India 😊🙏🏻
🥹🥹🥹 Thank you
you people are doing good. Keep on exploring !!! Best of luck .
Thanks for the good luck, we are loving it 😎👍
@@SeanandEmily Left lane is slow track, right most lane for overtaking, but some trucks are keeping it to the right😂
Remember India is a country of 1.4B people, rules made in Europe for a fraction of that population will not work in India, imagine if we have stop streets like Europe and everyone follows that, then how long the que will be.
Roundabouts and traffic control systems would also surely work in India 🤔
We really enjoyed our time in India and have had a great time.
I enjoyed your video ❤
probably most logical answer I saw from any Indian so far. most of them just try to blame their own people for everything.
I think we will just get some ear plugs 🤣
@@SeanandEmily I ride a KTM adventure 250 in India and use earplugs for long highway rides. It helps to reduce stress because of the suppressed wind noise and honking. It was fun to watch this vlog, the NH-48 is in bad condition sadly. Burst out laughing when I saw your blackened faces at the end. Enjoy your time in India.❤
haha yeah we did too lol -should have worn a face covering lol
Doesn't India have the highest number of road accident fatalities worldwide? Yes there are 1.4 billion but only a small percentage of them own a car
@@SeanandEmily
😂😂you are wrong , count the number of cars you will get an idea and I agree huge fatalities in road accident in India
According to a quick google (so could be wrong) there are over 256 million cars registered in the EU and 50 million in India and you have a greater land mass so it's actually a lot busier in Europe.
The ghat section are more scenic during rainy season.
Your vlogs 😍😍
Yes the Ghat section is incredible! Don't fancy a motorcycle trip in the rainy season though 😀. Thanks! great to hear you are enjoying them

6:28 Actually bikes are supposed to be left side of the lane. I think that's why he was beeping.
what about 1250cc bikes faster than any car on the roads? Could he not see that i was waiting to pass too once the truck moved out the way
Yeah 😅 Some people are impatient, Dont mind them.
@@SeanandEmily You don't wait until the truck moves out of the way, you tailgate the truck and honk to make it move out of the way. You're welcome.
Your words reflect our feelings too so not much has changed especially the friendliness of the people 😊
So glad that you are joining us on this tour and we cant wait to share the great places we visited.

They are just sharing there experience, it is what it is guys, we don't have peoples who follow rules, and we know that our traffic system is poor, our government vehicle driver's drive like they own the road, it will get better for sure in upcoming year's ❤

Nope i value my life and the life of my wife and don't trust the reckless drivers on the road.

All over India trillions and trillions of dollars are being spent for infra developments. It started after 2014 and it's still going for this decade. It's massively spread all over India for better connectivity.

There have been lots of fantastic rides here in the south but some of the connecting roads are a bit chaotic - all part of the adventure 😎
That's cool that you have road tripped across the USA (not somewhere we have really been before) India will be an awesome road trip destination in the future for more and more people as there is so much diversity in the country.

17:00 - He means "Y'all need to get Outta my way right now cuz I'm in a great hurry!" 😂
Yeah we got that 🤣😂
Rules are simple
1/ the bigger vehicle has right of way
2/ rear view mirrors are for checking your hair and makeup.
3/ the vehicle who’s nose is in front has right of way except in rule 1.
Multi lane Highways are new in India. No one follows lanes.
The sensible procedure is to keep wide view and allow for mistakes.
Yeah but they are not the actual rules are they? 😉
Yes they are @@SeanandEmily

Thank you so much 😀 We hope you get to explore India someday too, in the mean time we are happy to share this journey 😊
Very nice to see you bikeriding on way to Goa.
Really enjoyed the route to Goa! Some spectacular rides coming up 😎👍🏻
1:24 When British rules satara that time they build this tunnel and this is exact Trade route to enter city.
After Came out from this tunnel if You take right and Travel 22 km onwards You will find and Amazing spot
1) Thoseghar Water fall .. 2) Chalakewadi Wind Mills
this two locations are so beautiful.....and Tourist visit those places.
Thanks for the interesting history and tips👍
I think that we need a film making about a jewel heist, along with a truck, a tuk-tuk and a motorcycle having wild chase scenes on the road to Goa then into the city.
Haha that would be brilliant!!!!!
Main Land Indian love using horn. In noth eastern state we don't use horn unless the road is a blind curve. Although we also have a horn😂
That's good to know! Must be a lot more peaceful up North then 😊
Glad to hear you do have a horn 😁
We have been eating lots of local food, but we need a break from it as our stomachs are not coping well 😉
@@SeanandEmily gotcha
They are beeping because they exoect you to ride more agressively. Some people like to make noise and put on a show. That truckdriver is probably beeping at everything that moves with his special horn. Best way is to ride faster than the traffic and put some distance. Here, there are some roads that are nice, and then there are some roads that need to be ridden on to get to the good bits. This road is best done before anyone wakes up.
Can't really ride much faster when there is two giant truck in front of us but as you say so many just beep without even thinking first. Riding early in the morning is a great idea!
29:56 In my opinion, Veg Dry Manchurian is good. I have eaten Dry Manchurian many times. I love it. From Rajkot, city in Gujarat.❤
Thanks for sharing
I don't know English but I understand it a little bit, I've seen your seven-eight videos
Perhaps your RUclips channel has the option of captions, what is the speed of the video or it passes while you are reading it, did you remember your country after seeing the mountainous road
Glad you have enjoyed them, maybe you might like the new from RUclips (available from the last video) dubbed languages-let us know if it works 😎👍🏻
Some great development coming to India - looking forwards to seeing the works when they are finished. 😎👍
Thanks for sharing! It's interesting to hear your perspective on the traffic and honking culture.
You will remember india trip forever
Yes we sure will - it's been amazing
Hey Sean & Emily,
Nice video.
Great idea!
Tepid!!! 😲🤣 ...stayed in some dodgy hotels in France too lol
Gee, what an adventure you guys are having. Think I be mentally exhausted after an hour.😊
The banter is first class too.
Em says….Whacky Races….😂 You mentioned the guys saddle bags, 2 plastic buckets with lids.
Giving/SW Motech mist a trick there…..😂
Stay safe guys. X
Hi Mark, yeah it really is turning out to be an adventure straight from the word go 😊
Haha glad you appreciate our banter -most of the time we forget the cameras are rolling and there's so much to react too lol Haha the buckets are the future of adventure motorcycling 😂
Thanks Mark and catch you in the next one
@ thanks. If you need a bed, I got a double. On the coast, just south of Aberdeen Scotland.
Can show you my area. In the future.
(Biker to biker)
Wee Mark.
Thanks Mark 😎👍
- but had we heard that before going we would have been more shocked, now we are like 'that sounds normal there' 😉
Those roads are crazy
They sure are! 🤣
11:40 - I guess, Royal Enfield Himalayan... He seem to be impressed with the BMW and all accessories.
I think it was the Bullet -nice chrome tank he had 😎👍
actually it was Continental GT 650(a Cafe Racer from RE)
@@ujjwaltyagi7897 Could be, I didnt look for detail..
How did you add this audio track, can you reply me 🤔
We have microphones linked to the cameras
@SeanandEmily I know, I am talking about audio track in your video, in this video language is different language available examples, hindi, english, and many more
Ahhh okay, this RUclips does -it's a new dubbing feature that's being tested. How do you find it out of interest (as there is now way of us understanding if it works)
@@SeanandEmily okay thanks 😊
Beeping is normal to alert other vehicle is approaching.. we treat this as security measure..... so nothing yo feel offended..
Well enjoy Coastal India ❤
No body is getting offended 😉 ....annoyed yes but not upset lol
Emily you are such a brave girl. You truly deserve a spa session...
I do!! 😂 Maybe in Goa 😊🙏
I’ve driven up North and most of South and I can assure you, my honk count will be less than 10. Unnecessary honking is such a menace in India. This happens when individuals pay a bribe to get their license
That's good to hear 👍we have nothing against the horn but as it's used so much it loses it's meaning.
Very true, thanks for clarifying 😎👍
I really appreciate you getting out of your comfort zone and exploring a foreign unfamiliar territory🙏 it takes a lot❤...only thing i would suggest is that if you really want to enjoy country like india get out of your heads open your heart and be fully present in the moment...mind creates lots of unnecessary anxiety and fears which stops you from really experiencing something new..🙏lots of love and respect and all the best for your future adventures
We agree, it’s so much easier to be present when you’re enjoying yourself. 😊
India will be in your memories for your grand kids.. by then it will change further
We will never forget the memories made in India - yeah it will look different every year
6:22 If someone behind you beeps, It means he wants you to get aside to the left of the road so that he can overtake you from the right. So, if someone beeps behind you, give him a pass by getting aside to the left. 🙌
Thansk
nice vlog and good road observation....
Glad you enjoyed it! We did make it to Goa eventually :)
Loving your vlogs, just a request if you can please add the date of shoot in the start of the vlogs.
Why do you need to know the date?
You should be exploring by coster route or main highway it's very eye pleasing
We take the Coast on the was back North 😎👍.....after some beach relaxation 😊
True that - a nice change coming from Europe where motorcycle theft is a huge problem! Anyway we brought them so we will use them lol 😊
Hey guys beeping is to make u alert of their presence and a subtle nudge to you to move aside incase he wants to pass you, there is usually so much happening in front of u, that u may not have time to look in the mirrors, the beeping helps u deal with that by using ur ears instead of just ur eyes. GET USED TO IT!! dont panic (all that complaining is getting boring now)
The fact you think this is complaining is hilarious 🤣
@@SeanandEmily haha maybe, given this is my everyday, its the norm..
The trucks r beeping for a reason. they do not trust amateurs on highway.
There are many other routes, you should've taken. Prolly be faster for you cause the roads would be better and traffic would be far less, just that the turnings would be more.
😂🤣 Or they are impatient…
16:00 YES WE WILL JUDGE YOU!...... to be SANE. 🤣🤣 even most Indians don't do very long road trips on bikes. most prefer cars or touring taxis or public transport.
Haha 😂 thanks!
If you want a safe journey. You have to travel by aeroplane or train..
@@hemanth3395 public transport also mean air travel and trains 😅
If you drive in india you can drive everywhere 😂
Haha true that! 🤣
