  • Q. 4.5: Design a combinational circuit with three inputs, x, y, and z, and three outputs, A, B, and C. When the binary input is 0, 1, 2, or 3, the binary output is one greater than the input. When the binary input is 4, 5, 6, or 7, the binary output is two less than the input.

    A combinational logic circuit has three inputs x, y, and z and two outputs A and B. Output A is high when either x or y is low and z is high. Output B is low when z is low and x is high regardless of the value of y.
    a) Draw the truth table for the combinational circuit.
    b) Design the circuit for output A using a 3-to-8 decoder block and external gates.
    c) Design the circuit for output B using a 4-to-1 multiplexer.

    In first condition we given output is 1 but you solve the question with 2 for both condition 😅

    the actual video is different from the given problem. it says the binary output is ONE greater than the input. but the video says TWO

      the difference is literally only in the k map portion, which you should be great at kmap at this point, the point of the video is to help with the idea of the question itself so you're familiar with it.

    How can I find this? By a comparator ?
    Design a combinational circuit which has six inputs y2,y1,y0,x2,x1,x0 and four outputs Z3, Z2, Z1, Z0.
    a) Z0 is high whenever vector Y is equal to vector X
    b) Z1 is high whenever vector Y is greater than vector X

    Design a combinational circuit using a ROM. The circuit accepts a three‐bit number and outputs a binary number equal to 10 times the input number. Start with the truth table and show your implementation using:
    i. A decoder (Hint: use a 3×8 decoder).
    ii. A ROM block diagram (Hint: an 8 × 4 ROM suffices!)

    for 4,5,6 and 7 the output is three less than the input but you are writing two less than the input is my book is wrong

    I don't think the combinational circuit is correct
    To design this circuit:
    Take 3 4x1 MUXs, each one for individual outputs A,B,C.
    For each MUX, there will be 2 select lines. Set S0=x,S1=y for all MUXs.
