  • A full guide to enjoying the outdoors

    Who is the Presenter?
Andrew Price has spent every spare moment in the pursuit of Adventure. He is an experienced practitioner of a wide range of outdoor pursuits including Kayaking, Cycling, Rock Climbing, and Mountaineering. He is also passionate about the Dramatic Arts, graduating with a Degree in Media and Theater studies. This background in performance arts lends an infectious spontaneity and energy to his teaching. As well as drinking too much tea, he also hosts Bushcraft & survival courses open to all via Dryad Bushcraft
    Who made the videos?
The video production was done by Paul O'Connor who co-founded an award winning alternative video news agency, Undercurrents in 1994.He has produced programmes for Channel 4 and BBC. He is a professional cameraman, editor and producer and his images are regularly used in current affairs programmes all over the world. His interest began in Bushcraft after attending one of Andrew Prices workshops and a partnership was formed to produce a series of regular videos.Through hard work and determination, the online video series has grown from strength to strength. Paul has never liked tea.
Where did we record A-Z of Bushcraft?
We have filmed mostly on Gower peninsular in southwest Wales. This beautiful rugged peninsular was designated Britain’s first area of outstanding natural beauty (AONB) in 1956. The Area covers 188 sq Km with a coastline of 59 Km. Its complex geological formation has created a diverse range of terrain, condensed into a relatively small area. The South coast of Gower is predominantly carboniferous limestone which has formed into spectacular cliffs and sandy bays, popular with Rock climbers and surfers. The north coast is dominated by salt marshes and sand dunes, which support a range of flora and fauna to rival any in the UK.
How can I get a copy of the title music?
The title music used in A-Z of Bushcraft is 'Where the Wind blows' by Jon Harris and his band Seven Little Sisters. They have recently reformed thanks to the popularity of their song in our videos.

_L for Laughter_ That was a good one! I especially loved the rations in the bathroom sing and toilet paper for tender, plus the bit about the wooden coat hanger for a bow drill! Thanks for puting laughter in the A-Z! I'm always being humorous and silly as it helps me personally to avoid passing that threshold between _sane_ and _insane_ after a lifetime of a miserable life.

Animal skin, a foam pad, air mattress, and a high quality sleeping bag. Nothing like the rugged roughing it outdoor experience! Still, this video contains good and useful tips on the use of outdoor tools. Worthwhile watching.

An axe/hatchet is an issue for me, due to the nature of how my wrist, arm and shoulder are. I eventually tried this _BIG_ knife out from Amazon and it is so much better for me. I use it for _almost_ everything. cut tree, remove branches, carving, splitting wood, I even use it like a pull blade to skin strips of bark off trees/branches. Here the wood is better for use after a bit of time with the bark removed, and the bark is also useful in more than one way. The knife I'm talking about is: Schrade SCHF45 Leroy Full Tang Bowie Fixed Blade Knife

One comment on the water. Water from the tank on the back of the toilet I can agree with drinking, not from the bowl. No idea what chemicals for disinfecting or cleaning were used and flushing doesn't wash them away, same with the bacteria and germs if the toilet wasn't properly cleaned. Feces from an unclean toilet can cause some real nasty intestinal issues. The water in the back is fresh from the incoming pipe and is a storage unit, you may get some algae but seldom is the back cleaned with anything more than some bleach and bleach will help purify the water. Just something to think about.

You forgot spices! In one video I just watched, a guy cooking up a gourmet meal. Honestly, the hunters I just interviewed before going out on my last wilderness search for a missing man made me more concerned with watching my back for a cougar or bear first off if I was in survival mode. I think my second priority would be to get the heck out of there. Still a lot of useful basic info you have here.

It is half way across the province where they have them. the third one didn't happen because of this foolishness of Covid-19. Really sucks to be me!

Look up Egyptian bow drill methods. Instead of just wrapping your string around the spindle tie it then wrap it. It will never fly off. The twist can fly away . It works way better. Anybody who has done bow drill knows that part can be a pain in the butt. Check out the sawyer water filter. I’ve tested those better than most. Lol. I have no running water at my home. I’ve been using nothing but that for over 5 years. It will clean a million gallons of water on the large one. I take the smaller version when hiking. It works like a kidney dialysis machine.

This is pretty interesting, but I admit that "survival" is pretty far fetched for people who run around with high-tech knifes, tents, lighters... Would you mind doing a video for the common hiker getting lost in the wood without a lighter, a tent or a water-purifier? I'd love that!

Bushcrafting niche in youtube wasn't a big as gaming or top 10, top 5 or comedy niche. The monetary value isn't much.
But it does help people learn a thing or two. Who knows.. Out there maybe one day someone will use the skill and survive.
