I realize this is not a new video, but ... I just wanted to thank Nick for his videos. I have been home sewing for 45 years, but have never really learned draping. It was for *designers* not seamstresses. Watching Nick has made the connection between the finished product and the how and why patterns are shaped the way they are! Now I have a much better idea how to create the changes I want. Thank you, Sir!
Hi Nick! I have recently realised there are no patterns for what I want to create in my head, so decided I needed to learn to make my own and I found you! I love your videos! Amazing, not only am I learning so much! But your always looking fabulous while teaching! An I love your sense of humour every video you give me a giggle. Keep them coming can’t wait to see everyone one! Thank you love ya! Xx❤😊
Nick can you make a vid showing us what to do after you drape do you have to sew it with the pins on? I also want to say I love how you guys us and you always have a sense of humor 😘❤️❤️❤️♥️♥️♥️😘😘😘☺️😊
Hi, Nick! I love watching all of your tutorials. Do you happen to have one of how to create that arm for the dressform? I'd love to know how to make one for my dressform so displaying clothing I sell in my Etsy shop would look better on the dressform. THANK YOU SO MUCH!!!
I am so grateful for your videos. You are an amazing teacher and I look forward to continuing to learn from you, I even have my husband watching your videos🤗. I would be really interested in seeing your take on draping a coat, one that particularly falls mid thigh. Also what's your take on bell dresses 👗? Do you make lingerie? Is that drape worthy? 🤔.... Thanks a ton!
Your channel inspires me. Found it today. Keep doing what you are doing, you are an inspiration., I am starting from making clothes for fashion dolls. I have designed so many dresses but can't translate them into actual fabric form.
Excelent video! You are such a lovely person! Your inside light shines trhough your youtube chanel love the way you show happines in your videos I wish u were in Argentina! Teaching! Congratulations!
Hi Nick, I love your quick easy style. Can you show how to drape few types of basic sleeve..Long and short. I find it quite challenging to drape the sleeve due to measurements in different parts... Pleased to see your simple way... Thanks in advance
I think your an amazing designer i loved watching you on project runway and all-stars I love to sew my own clothes the one thing I don't really get is how to take the muslin from the form and make the garment itself I'm thinking it would be like using a regular pattern
Hi Nick thank you so much for all your videos. They are a huge help. Please keep making more and more often.😁 can you please make a video about how to drape or make a mermaid style skirt so we can incorporate it into dresses. I would really appreciate that. Thanks again.
Hi Nick, as always I love your videos and I always learn so much. Do you have a video on taking the muslin you have created that shows how you sew it into the final product? And also how you lay it out onto the material you want to sew?
Justine Jutte yes, he has a video where he shows you how to turn it into a custom pattern (which was amazing btw) and from there you would do the same as you would with a store bought pattern using the fabric of your choice! I hope that helps.
Unfortunately, I don’t think you have any recent videos but I just wanted to ask. Where is the best place to buy inexpensive muslin and will you show us how to unpin it from the form to head to the sewing machine? I love your videos!
Nick can u show a video what to do aftr u have draped everything on a body form ?? i mean okay aftr u drape it, how do u remove it? can u post a video where u remove it aftr u drape and straight to how you sew it?
tal vez es mucho decaer, que tus vidéos sean subtitulados .clases extraordinarias para las señoras que no penden comprar alta costura gran beso y gracias
This is such a great video. I love watching them all. Question: this drape is for size S I would think ...but what if I would like to make size or two bigger? Where do I add cm/inch and is it at the end of the process when the pattern ready or at the start? Just want to have a full understanding of the measurements/sizes. Much appreciate xxx
Tatiana Hoffmann- I tend to adjust sizing at the beginning and the end! The example he used is for a small sized form but the draping process can be done on whatever sized form you have and you should yield the same results! This is where those initial measurements would change to be closer to whomever you’re sewing for. Then once the draping is complete that’s when you can fine tune your measurements. While I have a form at home that is similar to my size, where I carry my weights and with just how my skeleton is built (lol) is not exactly the same as my form. So after I get done with the draping process, I then make a mock up (usually just with that same draped fabric) and then try it on my person and make any adjustments after that. :)
After marking all the cut lines on the muslin when it's still on the mannequin. You remove all the pins and lay your pieces on the table. Mark all the seem allowances, which is normally 2 cm for the side seem. 1,5 for the shoulder and1cm for the under bust cut line. After that lay it on the real fabric. Folded in half. Place the center lines on the fold and cut. And READY to sew. 😉
