They need to announce the sequel to this movie and just release the original all over again.

It’s like I said. I love this film.
I’ve seen it over a hundred times.

It's hilarious that even years later there are cut scenes that Rubins just can't let go. This is what collaboration is like. And strangely appropriate for the movie.

22:00 Wow! That library scene would have been awesome. But having learned piano, and knowing how long it takes to get as GREAT as Phil is at the end, I know he was in that time loop for YEARS. Anybody who has not learned piano would not know that.

Fascinating. Thank you for lifting the curtain for us. And, gradually, hearing story after story, I came to appreciate you, Danny Rubin!

OMG, brain droppings from the mind that devised the masterpiece. This is absolute gold.
His frankness and specificity are a tremendous gift to all of us. May that fine effort impel greatness by those who listen and are inspired.

Fascinating look into the collaborative process. What i take away from it is that it’s a once in a lifetime situation that brings the just right talented people together, sprinkled with some luck and serendipity that makes a classic. I think the conflict plays a great a role rather than if it were an effortless process.i don’t think any great work is accomplished without suffering.

I love the idea that when he finally wakes up on February 3rd, Rita isn't impressed because she has been living THAT DAY over and over and is always waking up next to Phil but I think that might have been too much

Nobody could have played the characters better. Perfect casting. Hilarious, different, odd, off-putting, yet magnetic. I always redeem Bill Murray by the end of every movie he's in.

Enjoyed the mention of It's a Wonderful Life. Seeing Groundhog Day made me always wonder about IAWL's influence on the writing.

Danny, I love the book your father wrote on refraction. I have and still read parts of it hundred if not thousands of times. I wonder if your father influenced your writing.

My favorite movie, glad they pulled any reference to it’s a wonderful life. That would have pulled the audience out of the movie to long and into thinking about how the 2 films relate to each other.

I've always thought that Larry's character isn't developed enough and would like to have seen more of him, but as I am a cameraman, I would say that.

Go visit Woodstock, IL, where they filmed this movie. They have an annual event there over Groundhog day celebrating the movie. It's a really cute town. And I bought a early edition of the screenplay there in the bookstore. In that one, Phil's ex-girlfriend uses voodoo to cause the time warp.

I think it’s interesting the library idea, but I was expecting him to say that it was replaced with the piano lessons. How long would it take to be pretty good if you had lessons every day? Depends on the person but I’ve been playing guitar for about 50 years and am so so (maybe try harder!) but if bills character really went for it? Great film.

You did mention 10 000 of years in your Second Revision (January 7, 1992).
    PHIL
You want to know what's really
    amazing? I've been waiting for
you every day for ten thousand
years. I dream of you every
night of my life. You've been my
    constant weapon against total
    despair, and just knowing you
exist has kept me alive. How's
    that?"

I read the novel Replay by ken Grimwood before this movie came out and I had thought it was somehow an inspiration for it at the time, but it seems that was completely wrong. It's still a good book to ready if you stumble across it.

Awesome collaboration. I had heard Bill Murray demanded a few re-writes and a more philosophical tone. I wonder if that’s true.
