    I like the black roof, its a nice contrast to the aged white truck. If you end up doing a black roof, maybe do a black stripe down the side of the truck. I think that would be a nice 2tone. Their is also a way to make the metal rust faster. Pour two cups of hydrogen peroxide, four tablespoons of white vinegar, and one-and-a-half teaspoons of table salt into a plastic spray bottle. That will start the rust prosses, and make it come out faster than what you did to the back. Beer mixed with salt also works too!

    Lil tip for ya, if you wipe the bare metal down with iodine on a rung out rag and hose it off right away it will speed up the rusting process to overnight, but DON'T do it heavy or leave it on to long before rinsing it off or it'll be Swiss cheese by morning,,,

    Craig for a good source of masking paper. go to your local newspaper. the one in the town where i live they sell the end rolls of paper when they have to put on a fresh roll which ways about 2000 pounds. at least that,s what the guys at the PennySaver told me. that was my very first job way back in 1976. it,s about the same thickness as pro paper but a lot cheaper.

    My 1979 2wd Toyota pickup was originally white, someone had painted it all lime green. I have intentions on sanding the whole truck to bare metal and just spray bombing it white with the rustoleum turbo spray paint & hope for some natural patina come through. How do you plan to preserve your patina? I've heard of people using boiled linseed oil or a coat of clear.

    • @Thecraig909
      @Thecraig909  5 лет назад

      It helps and will run better for sure. So it’s not a total myth. But full race engines flow so much air it’s not needed. Stock 302 motors move less air so the back pressure helps regulate the flow of the air better.

    • @Thecraig909
      @Thecraig909  5 лет назад

      For me I just see it as a temporary fix if you have no way of welding new panels on. Using a ton of it all over a vehicle to me is lazy and a cheap way of doing body work. Over time large amounts of bondo will always crack where metal won’t. It goes back to the statement “cheap work isn’t good, and good work isn’t cheap” small amounts are okay to fix tiny imperfections but a car full of bondo is no better then a rust bucket. Just my thoughts.
