I liked the way the Highlander design was back in 2012. I might lease this years' highlander for a month, and compare it with this years' Toyota 4Runner due to it's abilities and the huge ground clearance the vehicle has in comparison to how much the highlander has.

I just took delivery of a 2020 Highlander Platinum with a caramel interior. It's beautiful, but there is one annoying problem. The heads up display and digital speedometer show the same speed. However, the analog gauge shows a different speed. If the digital readout shows 100 km/h, the analog shows 103. That gap increases the faster you go. My Toyota dealer checked the other Highlanders on their lot and every single one they tested had the same issue. So this should be a recall issue in the future.
I test drove a Highlander last week. Not bad. But, Kia and Hyundai offer a bigger vehicle for less $$$$ and a much better warranty. This makes for a tough decision. Thank you for the nice review. BTW, Lyn is much prettier than you are.
Don't worry, you will spend the saved money in the mechanic or paying for Hyundai's faults 🤦🏻♂️ My own experience, even blaming me for issues in the car that could have ended in fire.
Yep, the Palisade and Telluride are larger and have a 100K mile powertrain warranty. After 100K with Kia or Hyundai, your time is limited. Highlanders have gone 500K miles with the same powertrain. As the saying goes, lease a Kia or Hyundai, buy a Toyota.
Just spent some time with one. Great car all around. BUT the lane keep assist while the cruise control was on was HORRIBLE. It kept making micro adjustments to keep the car centered which, at highway speeds, felt like the rocking of a boat side to side.
If you have to carry a lot of people and all their gear then yes the Sienna is the way to go. I had one for 13 years with 4 kids. Now two of the kids are grown and gone and another one has his own car. Hence why last week we bought the 2021 Highlander Platinum
I own the car and yes it does recline and the third row is fine for small children/dogs and if you have a bigger teenager or adult one person can fit back there fine. That inability to fold down the 3rd row without pushing the 2nd row a bit forward is a BIG turn off for me. What if I want to use the full space of 2nd row seat and at the same time fold down the 3rd row for cargo space? I don't that's possible in this Highlander without pushing 2nd row a bit forward, and that's really disappointing

There are more than 20 mainstream midsize SUV's divided between two row and three row entries with most brands offering one of each. So what makes a consumer choose a 3 row vehicle? Presumably it's the value of a third row for at least occasional, if not regular, use. The Highlander offers 27.7" of rear seat legroom. The Toyota and Mazda CX-9 are the ONLY three row SUV's that provide less legroom in the back than the rear seat of a Ford Mustang (30"). Second, installing/removing child seats from the Highlander is more awkward than a number of other vehicles. So for each of these reasons very small family members aren't good candidates for the third row. Finally and most importantly, as parents know well children have an annoying habit of growing. So while a nine year old may find the rear seat acceptable, that same kid three years later may well have to be bound and gagged to be crammed into the space. Review the Toyota Corolla Hybrid ⚡️
Would absolutely take a telluride over this anyday. Better warranty better pricing much better styling. I prove plently of these at a dealer I worked at, they are super bland and boring. The absolute definition of average.
Get a telluride or Palisade and be happy AF
Really cant go wrong with any vehicle in the segment these days.
@@ALMX5DP The new Explorer is a complete POS just like every other Ford.
@@mrsj1417 nah it's fine, and has some a couple of pros on it's side versus the competition depending on your needs/desires.
@@ALMX5DP That's true. It's got some very strong points. It's just that the weak points are soooo glaring.
Other than the option of a good hybrid powertrain on the Highlander, the Telluride and Palisade are better vehicles imo
