- This is Part 3 of a mini review series for the latest addition to my video acquisition arsenal - the Chasing Innovation Technology M2. These are my own opinions and are not sponsored or solicited.

How do you calibrate the M2 ? is it like any aerial drones ? or do you calibrate it underwater ?
Hi Jacques. Thanks for watching and commenting. All calibrations are done out of water and the process is pretty straight forward through the app. I have just received Chasing’s F1 fishing drone and it’s calibration process is almost identical to popular prosumer aerial drones.
Hi Allen, I love watching your informative videos.
I noticed you bought the M2 about a year ago now. Just wondering how the motors are coping, have you been rinsing out salt and applying a corrosion-resistant oil? does your M2 still function? if not, how many missions did you manage to get out of it?

Hi Martyn - thanks very much for the feedback. Coincidentally, I have just got my M2 out to start preparations for the Spring filming and to my surprise and all 4 motors were fully or partially seized after sitting in storage for about 5 months. The M2 has been run exclusively in fresh water, rinsed after every dive to ensure all sediment is clear and sprayed with silicone lube after drying. I'm awaiting Chasing's feedback before posting formally as I was aware they were working on a better motor system. Hopefully it will include a retrofit program for the legacy M2's. When the M2 works, it works really well. The motors, however, have been very problematic. I'll keep you posted.
@@TheFishFindersTV Thanks Allen, much appreciated. I have not received my M2 yet but have also bought a salt rinsing product and "corrosion X" to soak the motors in periodically. Hope all goes well with Chasing innovations, would love to hear if they back their product after you were such a great supporter of them.

@@ahmadsodiqazami8139 Nope. Not covered by warranty so Chasing just pointed me to parts resellers that were in a different country and left it at that. I've taken the motors and props of and cleaned them the best I can. Got them operating again but I think I have a software issue that is causing intermittent uncommanded actions. I plan on working on it over the winter but will also be looking at other alternatives for next year.
Hi Alan ~ Your videos should be the used as THE teaching tool for emerging internet and RUclips reviewers. Clear, articulate, well-observed and in-depth, I powered through all your M2 coverage even after deciding against a marine drone for my UW image acquisition. I'm an oceanic shooter who'll be sticking with hand-held equipment, but am so impressed with your reviews I had to see more. Kudos, sir, on outstanding presentation!

Hi Allen I am having trouble finding the updates for my new chasing M2 ???
Haha been there done that Steve! My M2 was grossly misbehaving recently and after emailing Chasing I was told that my firmware was way out of date. Chasing emailed 2 barcodes for the updates and everything has been good since. Not a very intuitive process tho because I was not notified on startups that the system needed to be updated. Contact Howard at simple@chasing-innovations.com and ask for the update codes. They might ask for serial numbers etc. Let me know if they sort it out for you.

Man wish I have the money for that reel. Nice video Allen.
Thanks - it does work well and makes single person operation easier. Can tip over easily if there is much tension on the cable (friction from lots of tether in the water as an example).

Thanks for watching! The M2 has a 3nmph forward speed and is decent in current but strong currents and tides will pose problems. I’ll be documenting some testing in the St. Lawrence River this week and will post videos results here.
