There has been another change that I haven't seen mentioned: mandatory arbitration, which is similar to what Discord was doing but doesn't give you the option to opt out. Of course, this only applies to citizens of the United States, but even so, if someone wants to file a lawsuit, they can't because they must participate in arbitration, which virtually guarantees their loss.
This may not seem like a big deal to some, but let's put things in perspective. If you had an issue with Roblox's handling of your child's data, for example, as I've seen people discuss in the comments, you can't sue Roblox for it; instead, you have to go through a specific process that I've mentioned numerous times, called arbitration. In arbitration, you sit down and debate terms with Roblox, with a retired judge who is, well, the judge, in a private court setting. Arbitrations are no longer public, or at least they don't have to be, therefore everything is secret and probably nobody will find out that this is happening.
Another major issue is that they are exempt from the regulations that govern a traditional legal system, which allows them to occasionally engage in underhanded behavior without facing consequences. And to those who are saying, "The judge will side with you," rest assured that he probably won't since Roblox would probably never pick them again if the judge did, which would cost him money. As a result, they would undoubtedly side with whoever offers them the money. Arbitration is detrimental to the customer for a number of reasons, this being just one.

The difference with Roblox is... A lot of people have given a scan of their ID, yes the scan is not stored but name, age, date of birth (basically everything you need to identify a person, yes really). Which means the data sent is 100% true and not just an estimation. Same with discord, they send gender informmation to advertisers now, just after they added a pronoun feature... Advertisers found out they don't need complex algorithms when the people just give up their data outright

The people who complain about this the most are probably being surveilled by their social media apps in a hundred different ways rn

I think Roblox’s notoriously subpar security is part of why players got more upset when Roblox is collecting data. Also next to no one trusts companies to not track their data when there’s an option to turn off tracking.

They certainly aren't going to use it to moderate, we have almost a decade and a half of evidence pointing to that not being the purpose, and selling out to people developing AI sounds like something David would do.
Yep. Big companies are reeeeeally into developing AI. With this, you got a buncha people getting absolutely screwed over and their work stolen, put through a laundry machine, and spit out with something that can’t be copy written. Really wouldn’t be a surprise.

if roblox wasn't primarily a kids game, i would be somewhat okay with it. websites do this all the time. twitter (x), instagram, facebook, even youtube and google. HOWEVER, the problem is that MILLIONS of users are under the age of 18. because, you know, it's a KIDS GAME. there is literally a LAW against collecting or selling the data of a minor, hence why COPPA exists. if roblox does actually go through with this, there might be a ton of lawsuits headed their way.
i think that this affects users above 13. I don't know more about coppa, so correct me if im wrong, but I assume that users above 13 year old can give consent to sell their data. But, what I majorly think is important is that, they should separate that consent from ToS.

The largest issue I've had with the updated TOS is that they added a rule that states its YOUR fault when your account is compromised.
Recently one of my accounts was hijacked and they terminated all my accounts. They even acknowledged that, but refused to reinstate my account.

Well, this is far from being the end of the world but still, why roblox? Why?
I mean ik google sells data and stuff but I think this is like a roblox L for themselves, as they can't use minors data and pretty much any 18+ roblox player quits soon after hitting adulthood, which makes Roblox unable to sell data of around 50% of their current active playerbase.
I'm pretty sure Roblox can't collect much data from your playing sessions, and your personal data is pretty much sold already, so there ain't much to do.
This simply scares people from playing lol.
