- As one of the top narrators recording today, you probably recognize Julia Whelan’s voice from the bestselling audiobooks of titles like The Invisible Life of Addie LaRue, Educated, and her own critically-acclaimed novel My Oxford Year. Whelan’s love of literature comes through in her distinctive narrative style, which expresses the passion, beauty, and joy of words and language. This lively conversation will explore Whelan’s many ways of exploring her crush on the English language - as writer, reader, actor, and narrator.
This program was presented via Zoom on Wednesday, January 13, 2021.

Julia Whelan is so good that even if the story and writing are not good enough she makes one listen to the whole book.
I am excited to hear about all of the hard work she puts into being such a phenomenal narrator! 😃
just listened to “people we meet on vacation” and julia’s reading of it was so emotional and perfect it almost brought me to tears. perfect narrator for an incredible book!
I will listen to any book she narrates.... my absolute fave
“Educated” is the book that introduced me to Julia as Narrator. What an outstanding project- I have the audio and the hard copy. Well done, Julia.
Julia Whelan is so incredibly talented.
I absolutely love her voice and how she reads. I also loved her so much on Once and Again as Grace.
This is fascinating. I’m delighted to know that there are Narrators who do so much preparation. You’re of the best. Recently a Narrator was SO ill equipped the story was ruined- just what I consider every day vocabulary…. Thank you for my signed book🌹
Scott Brick is also amazing!!!
I have been listening to Audio books since there were maybe a dozen cassettes in a small rack in the Library where I worked in Rockville Connecticut.. The Library is across the street from the Hospital.. Now its a download to my phone. I live in Niantic now and stop at the Library here to donate and to say Hi to the people who work there.. I have audios, two all the time in my phone just in case one isn't good. They always are.. Ms. Whelan is a wonderful reader as most are, George Guidall, Scott Brick (to many to name) and always look forward to her reading me a story..
I am in the camp of April Berry who said "Iwill read any book she narrates. Also, I will be girly here Julia, you are a beauty! Could you share your skincare routine? And your makeup products?
I have "The Invisible Life of Addie LaRue" on hold and I can't wait..
She is Amy Dunne to me. After Julia is Rosamund Pike.
Love Julia and this program, but Ms. Roberts, good heavens you need to fix your lighting! The reflection off your glasses is terrible.
